  1. Ended up getting charges for his actions and story was done by Bruce Jenner. http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/burke/navy-official-to-be-charged-for-waving-gun-at-young-men/276971110?ftag=MSF0951a18
  2. At least we know she can take a blow to the face...
  3. I'm going to catch flak for this, but you'll have to clarify sts. Still learning.
  4. Awesome guns make you want to excessively pull the trigger.
  5. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to get some coming to keep on hand. Yes, it's used with about 600 rounds through it. It was a good price and had the sights on it that I wanted.
  6. Shot many and felt most comfortable with the CZ P09. Shot it. Loved it. Bought it.
  7. Thank you stuckindayton. Pardon my ignorance, but can you elaborate on the no waiver for myopia portion. Thank you for clarifying and pointing me in the right direction for the solid evidence. Will need the hard evidence as I'm on the bubble with -2.75.
  8. Thank you stuckindayton. I apologize for my ignorance, but can you further explain the no myopia waiver portion? Are you you saying that the standard to be waived is no longer -3.00 or they just changed it so you won't need a waiver and you will be DQed if you exceed -3.00?
  9. Deaddebate- I hate asking this, but where can I find the current standards posted above? I Keep coming across the old standards that are listed in AFI48-123 6.44.7 (pg 90). Also, where can I find the waiver standards above? I only find DOD 6130-3 Section 5 Pg 14 for standards; not waivers. I want to physically locate these standards/ waivers, so I can provide documentation to a recruiter when they say I exceed standards. Thank you once again.
  10. I'm currently on the fence of getting RS or take my chances of getting a vision waiver. If I am to get the RS than I will need to do it in the next month or two, so my 1 year waiting period will line up with the completion of my degree. Current vision is -2.75 in left and -1.50 on the right. Any thoughts on which direction I should take? RS is looking much better to me, but not sure which waiver would be easier to get in my situation. Thank you.
  11. Read through this thread and see good information for heavies, but can anyone give any current insight on fighter units for the guard/reserve? Thank you.
  12. Just looked up the Glaser Super slug and may need to invest in some. How accurate are they?
  13. Thanks guys. We will be going to the gun range to shoot all that we can and make a decision then. The problem that I have with the P91 is twofold: 1) I've had a jam or two with the gun and it doesn't make me feel at ease. Especially with having our neighborhood being ransacked by thieves recently. 2) We have kids now and I want to have a rail for a light In order to better identify my "target" if I rush in a situation and wasn't able to grab a flashlight. (This may open up a whole other discussion) What a like about the P91 is it's double/single action, it's not plastic, and it can be used as a club or projectile if thrown when you run out of ammo. Money is somewhat of a concern (see below image if it wasn't), but will pay what I need to get a good pistol. Wife can handle more then a 9mm power wise, just need something better fitting for her. Worst comes to worst, I'll just have to buy 2 pistols in order to accommodate us both (what a shame). I don't plan on carrying this weapon. Having the weapon be striker fire isn't a huge concern in my decision, I mention those two as I've recently shot both and liked them.
  14. How are the ergonomics on these guns? Wife will need to be comfortable using it as well.
  15. Looking to update my home defense pistol from a Ruger P91 to something new. Considering a Sig P320 or an XD.... Any suggestions?
  16. Instead of introducing democracy to these countries, why not teach them how to use the shitter? World peace would soon follow.
  17. Speaking as a civilian, the app appears to be laid out in a nice manner and holds useful information that people can use to answer basic questions (e.g. vision limitations, allergies, physical standards). The files are formatted in PDF and you can even use a search function for quick referencing. The only problem I have is the app will crash if it loads for more then 5 seconds. This could be induced by me using my iPhone 4S. Works good on the older iPad.
  18. I'll be sure to to inform the staff of what I will be needing. Just a few more questions. 1) What was your vision prior to the surgery? (Curious on how much of correction was needed) 2) Any complications? (I.e. Haze, halos, night problems) 3) Were you already flying before the correction or after? Thank you.
  19. Precise and direct to the point. I like it. Thank you. Any thing else I should take into consideration before proceeding with the correction?
  20. Can anyone point me in the right direction for the most up to date regulations on PRK/LASIK surgery? I'm about a year out for applying for units and my left eye has apparently surpassed the maximum myopia error (-3.00 is the max and I registered at -3.25) at my eye appointment today. I want to get the ball rolling for surgery, but don't want to jump the gun until I know every detail. Also, I would get the surgery done in north Texas and any suggestions for the area would be great. Thank you.
  21. Maybe she's the lead professor for "red wing" studies?
