  1. Guy I know just had his PC approved. DOS is end of Apr, and got word a few days ago....I think his requested time off adsc was less than 6 months...he’s a 12S
my requested DOS is mid-May and haven’t heard anything...but it looks like they have no qualms with waiting until the last minute to approve packages...I’m getting close to being forced to just change my DOS on account of terminal leave, and I’m only asking for 3 months off adsc as it is, submitted last Nov, and have had recommends at every level so far. Frustrating process, but glad for a bro out there that found luck...

So where is your PC app sitting right now? This has me extremely worried because a delay that long to get an answer would screw up all of my life plans right now.

  2. 1. There is a section of the PC AFI that states the member should not be sent TDY while an application is pending. It says that it can be done, but it requires your CC to coordinate with MPF prior to sending you. Probably to sanity check the decision and ramifications of having to send a replacement if it got approved.

    2. I was told the base separation authority is the Wing/CC, so you’d need an endorsement from at least the equivalent. Not sure if disapprovals extend the time to get an answer, the gouge I’ve gotten is less than 6 months doesn’t require SAF approval. That supposedly simplifies the routing and allows the head of the PC office to approve.

  3. Yeah, the flow chart is wrong when it comes to routing of the app as well. The office symbols are all different than what I’m seeing in CMS.

My app has been sitting with DP2O (or something) since 26 March with no movement. After 3 calls to the Total Force Service center, their computers were finally up and running. The customer service rep tried to connect me to officer assignments, but I guess it’s too late on a Friday.

  4. Except the shadow on the lowest A400 is facing the wrong way...

It appears to me that the shadow on the lower jet is the fuselage and lower vertical stab of the top jet. It’s probably the telephoto compression making them look much closer as the article states.

  5. I really hate the age categories. The current Army test changes the age standards every four years, ie 18-21, 22-25, etc. It also counts push ups, sit-ups and the run equally.

Agree, as someone approaching the next higher age bracket, I can attest to how much aging occurs from 30-39.

  6. From the time it got to the palace chase office it was around 2 weeks for him to sign it, it showed up on vMPF long before I got the email notification....the office is not very fast

I just passed 3 weeks from when it got to the PC office. I’m checking the status every day, it gives me nightmares to back during my VSP applications. I’m just ready for it to be done so I can get on with my life.

  7. If I remember right, that was a fuel tank vent that was left capped.

That’s what the article says. It also says the jet was holding 120,000 gallons when the rupture and spill happened - 804k lbs sure is a lot for a 141.

You’re an officer or enlisted? Just to make sure we’re comparing apples to apples. My ISR is saying it’s been taking 8 weeks to hear back for Officer Palace Chase. I’m hoping it’s not that long...

  9. If you have ALL approved up to the head of the Palace Chase office, Col something, then he/she can sign it off...if it goes to the board, you can expect 8 weeks from the time it was sent up, they will put all 3 instruments on Vmpf (approve/disapprove/conditional), once you get some sort of approval, you will have 60 days to get your requested unit to do the 2nd endorsement...I have been through this twice in the past year, first time to board (disapproved) 2nd was approved all the way up....I have heard that anything inside of 6 months they will approve (especially for UPT ADSC), they will approve outside of that for PCS, hope that helps

How long did that take you to get the approval from the PC office? I’m guessing that’s where mine is sitting now (Referred to PC OPR) and I have all approvals.

  10. So I’ve noticed differences between AirlineApps and Pilot Credentials in logging hours. Airline Apps has a spot for PIC, SIC, etc but also has a spot for Total time. Pilot Credentials only has PIC, SIC, and Instructor. Do I log primary time that wasn’t PIC as SIC for Pilot Credentials? I have a lot more Primary than actual PIC by the airline definition.

  11. “That does not mean that indefinitely suspending the LAA procurement was a wise move, particularly given the Air Force’s desire to demonstrate that it can be a smart and agile consumer.”

Smart and agile are two words that I would never use to describe the Air Force. It took years to adjust the length of SOS, a decade and a half to acquire a new tanker, and now years of stringing along the light attack idea. What a lethargic mass of bureaucracy we work for.

  12. I will say the only product I see from USAA that I prefer is their renter’s insurance. When I compared their coverage with GEICO, USAA had unlimited loss of use coverage due to mold or other reasons. GEICO’s was limited to (I think) 30 days.

I pay $28/mo for 100k property coverage and for extra computer coverage so our MacBooks are covered if we ever accidentally trash them.

  13. I dropped their car insurance 6 years ago when their rates got ridiculous. I still use them for banking right now, but after I separate and get settled I will find a local credit union for that.

In my opinion, the company is run by a bunch of retired generals who have gotten too greedy. Instead of being an exclusive provider for military and their families, they have loosened up membership requirements to expand their customer base along with a corresponding drop in the quality of customer service. It’s kind of sad really.
