  1. @ Zerohour, our Cadre agreed to adjust the schedules to reduce ppwk time this year, in the past it has always been a 4+ hour ordeal. Not sure if ya'lls is that bad, but I've got some ideas to help out if so. (I'm a 400 at ERAU-DB)

  2. New student orientation is designed to give brand new freshman that have no idea about the military a quick taste of ROTC. Usually, it's mostly fun "retention" stuff (we did paintballing, ropes course, etc). There's some reg somewhere that specifically states that orientation cannot be super intense, boot camp style. Bottom line: don't worry about it.

    What reg is that?

  3. quick caveat... depending on the situation and level of clearance, you might have to meet with an investigator... I did, and we verbally went over the debts section and there were no hiccups, and although I didn't have to check any yes containers for the debts page, I know my score was significantly less than 700.

  4. Yeah, expect an additional average of $7000-9000 per school year in flight fees. I go to a fellow Big Ten school, and that's about what I paid in addition to tuition. Can't answer your question about financial aid specifically, but I'd imagine it would cover flight training, else practically no one would have the money to go through the program.

For ERAU, I was able to include my flight costs in my total financial aid package. However, there is some rules about if you're on scholarship it technically can't cover an part of the flying. I stopped flying here just before I got my scholarship, so can't help with that part. However, before I got my scholarship, they would include that in the annual cost of tuition, therefore my finaid and stu loans covered flying (a terrible decision that I will most likely regret later on, when I'm paying them back).

  5. Working through an SF 86 for a rehack... But the way the form is set up it looks like they only want to know details about problematic debts (i.e. questions a-p)and whether it has been resolved or not.

Unlike when I did the form the first time with no debt whatsoever I have 2 loans currently; my career starter loan from USAA and my mortgage. That said I would like to know if I am supposed to list these even if the loans don't meet any of the red flag conditions previously mentioned? My gut instinct is no, but I don't want to jack up the form.

Just throwing this out there... none of my debts met those conditions (defaulting, etc), so I didn't list them at all. Mine just went through, no problems. For a reference I have student loans and plenty of revolving credit card debt.

  6. ...

besides it doesnt help that much from what ive read. I mean sure it helps, but I heard lots of guys get slots without a ppl...

well I already know my eyes are good and wont be dq'ed because of that. ..... I think I am going to end up getting my ppl during college. by then I will have the money. Theres nothing wrong with waiting until then to get it.

hard to describe, i can assure you it works fine. I dont think they can DQ you for having a "weird" condition. They concentrate on if it is a progressing condition, which its not, or if it will affect your duties as an officer, which, as far as my knowledge goes, it wont.

Well it sure sounds like you've just got it all figured out, man. Best of luck.

Yeah man... for somebody with questions, you sure do have a lot of answers... Here's an answer you might not have.. the dudes on this board are an awesome resource, related story: you have two ears and one mouth... ask a question, listen to answers.

  7. So after a quick search I came up with very little about ROTC orientation or what my future det is calling "Cross into the Blue" ours is two days long from 8:00 to 4:00 and I'm curious about what we are gonna do those two days. I guess I'm just excited and don't want to wait another month to find out. I want to be ahead of the curve and start out on the right foot, so maybe some tips on what will be expected of us the first two days wouldn't hurt either.

    Bring anal lube.
