The loss numbers for Russia are staggering.

Something to think about, both Russia and the Ukraine can take some serious casualties. The top three countries with the most casualties during WW2 = China, Russia, and Ukraine. Note - broken down by country not USSR, etc/keep in mind all these countries had a much smaller population during WW2.

List of casualties from top 8 countries during WW2:

Country Tot. Deaths  Military Deaths Civ. Deaths via Military Civ. Deaths via Famine/Disease
    China 20,000,000 3,750,000 8,191,000 10,000,000
    Russia 13,950,000 6,750,000 4,100,000 3,100,000
    Ukraine 6,850,000 1,650,000 3,700,000 1,500,000
    Poland 6,000,000 240,000 5,820,000
    Germany 5,700,000 4,456,000 2,135,000
    Japan 3,100,000 2,300,000 800,000
    India 3,087,000 87,000   3,000,000

Some old hag started screaming at me for god forbid sitting in my car with the engine running for a few mins waiting for someone.

Here's one of many ways to handle a typical USA Hag:

    At McDonalds This Morning.

'I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I was in the McDonald’s drive-through this morning and the lady behind me leaned on her horn and started mouthing something because I was taking too long to place my order. So when I got to the first window I paid for her order along with my own. The cashier must have told her what I'd done, because as we moved up she leaned out her window and waved to me and mouthed "Thank you.", obviously embarrassed that I had repaid her rudeness with kindness. When I got to the second window I showed them both receipts and took her food too. Now she has to go back to the end of the queue and start all over again.'

  3. Something else to watch in another part of the Indo-Pacific AO in OctoberI wouldn't be surprised if the PRC escalates the situation along this contentious border region - before/during/after this joint US/India exercise?

US to take part in military exercise near India's disputed border with China - CNN

Exercise "Yudh Abhyas" -- or "War Practice".

The United States is to take part in a joint military exercise with India less than 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the South Asian country's disputed border with China.

The military drills will be held in mid-October at an altitude of 10,000 feet in Auli in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and will focus on high-altitude warfare training, according to a senior Indian Army officer with knowledge of the matter.

Auli is about 95 kilometers from the Line of Actual Control (LAC), an inhospitable piece of land where the disputed border between India and China is roughly demarcated.

Relations between India and China have been strained since a bloody clash between their soldiers in the Himalayas in June 2020 left at least 20 Indian troops and four Chinese soldiers dead.

Also, this event occurred last year in the same location of the upcoming joint exercise = Indian State of Uttarakhand.

It seems to me that HAL's back and he's upped his game. Caution - back in the day HAL was good at reading lips/today HAL can probably secretly monitor/observe every move you make, etc, etc.  It sure seems like one of HALs many new mission sets is showcased in this money/finance discussion.

They aren’t clearing a school building. They know exactly what classroom the gunshots are coming from almost immediately.  All active shooter training for the past 10 years or more says to immediately stop the killing. No waiting. Grab a partner and go.

The totally failed police response to this active shooter situation reminds me of something really simple = 'Lead, Follow, or Get the Hell Out of The Way - NOW'.  Most of the Law Enforcement officers actions during this active shooter incident were equivalent to a modern-day (Real World) version of F-Troop, particularly the scenes from the new video that was just released.

OMG! - is that what one does when they attack?

IMHO, the USSS needs to update their training. They could've used this technique numerous times on the Presidents dog. Rumor - this is also the fastest method to stop uncontrollable cackling - Example VP Harris/good luck finding any USSS agents willing to accomplish this task.

Its somewhere between sitting at the bottom of black sea or small contained explosion and carrying on.

Here's the latest (just now hitting the news cycle):

"Russian Navy’s Black Sea flagship RTS Moskva (121) has sunk while being towed toward Sevastopol, Crimea, after sustaining major damage in a fire Wednesday, Russian state media said on Thursday.

“During the towing of the Moskva cruiser to the port of destination, the ship lost its stability due to damage to the hull received during the fire from the detonation of ammunition. In the conditions of stormy seas, the ship sank,” the Russian ministry of defense told the TASS newswire."

  9. "Russia says flagship of Black Sea fleet badly damaged by blast | Reuters

This story just hit the news about 45 minutes ago. There are two versions of what happened (TBD) but either way it sounds like this Russian Flagship is probably toast/artificial reef material. "The Neptune (Ukrainian: Р-360 «Нептун», romanizedR-360 "Neptun") is a Ukrainian anti-ship cruise missile. The system entered service with the Ukrainian Navy in March 2021 and has a 330lb Warhead"

"Russia on Thursday said the flagship of its Black Sea fleet was seriously damaged and its crew evacuated following a fire that caused an explosion, as a Ukrainian official said the vessel had been hit by missiles."

"The incident on the Moskva missile cruiser occurred after ammunition on board blew up, Interfax news agency quoted the Russian defence ministry as saying."

"Maksym Marchenko, governor of the region around the Black Sea port of Odesa, said in an online post that the 12,500 tonne ship was hit by two missiles, without providing evidence.

"Neptune missiles guarding the Black Sea caused very serious damage," he said in an online post."

KA-52 Shot down with ATGM.  The Russians have a lost a LOT of equipment in five weeks.

A little info on this Ukrainian designed/manufactured ATGM (it can penetrate 32 inches of armor) and it can also do this "The Stugna-P is able of destroying low-altitude, slow-moving aerial targets":

Wow how many and how long for the Ukrainians to set that up? I can't believe the Russians haven't figured out that if you don't have ISR/surveillance watching the routes the other side will leave all kinds of little presents. The only other option is cross country.

This looks like a very simple set up. A well trained/experienced team of four (plus security personnel) could most likely accomplish this task in about 40 minutes or so but there could be lots of other time - consuming task/variables, particularly if installing multiple electric/mechanical triggering devices, etc.  Keeping it simple = The team would have to do a detailed recon of the area/rehearse the plan of attack, prep all the demo material like cut the 5 det cord branch lines/sensitize all five det cord branch lines/check electric blasting caps/test initiation system/prep the 5 demo charges (example - M183 Satchel Charges/20lbs of C-4 each - which looks like about the approximate size of the charges used in this video), etc, etc. Next step - when the time is right the team gets to work putting everything in place IAW with the plan. Final steps/Command Detonation Mode - one person stays down range and everyone else heads to the safe area. Final hook-up takes about a minute or so = make a small hole in the ground a couple feet from the det cord main line, place the electric blasting cap/detonator (explosive end/nose down in the hole, turn the receiver switch to the armed position - most receivers have a built-in safe separation timer), after 30 second if the electric blasting cap hasn't detonated connect it to the det cord main line. Head to the safe/reviewing stand area, fire up the popcorn machine, and watch/wait for your target to arrive - then press and hold the transmitter fire button = boom.

Was wondering if the IED would come into play...

After watching this short video - here's some very basic demo info: To me It appears that this setup is composed of one long det cord main line that runs parallel to the road, 5 short det cord branch lines that are connected to the det cord main line, and 5 main charges that are connected to the 5 branch lines. When initiated it all goes boom at about 21,000 feet per second. Enough said at this point.

  13. Ukraine Strikes Russia’s Alligator Class LST With Ballistic Missile

The Ballistic missile/s used by the Ukrainian forces in this attack is possibly the OTR-21 Tochka A.K.A. SS-21 Scarab model A, B, or C -TBD. The Video (long video) shows one Russian Navy ship on fire with numerous secondary explosions, shore depot on fire, and two other Russian navy ships bugging out of the port and they both appear to be on fire.

  14. Now this is some strange sh&#/like something you might see back in the Cold War Days (if true?):

Here's just one of many reports on this incident that have been released in the last hour or so:

Official: Drone that crashed in Croatia carried a bomb

'Croatia's defense minister says a military drone that apparently flew all the way from the Ukrainian war zone over three European NATO-member states before crashing in an urban zone of the Croatian capital was armed with an explosive device'

'The Soviet-made aircraft crossed Romania and Hungary before entering Croatia, slamming into a field near a student dormitory late Thursday. About 40 parked cars were damaged in the large explosion, but no one was injured.'

'NATO said the alliance’s integrated air and missile defense had tracked the object’s flight path. But Croatian officials said the country’s authorities weren't informed and that NATO reacted only after questions were posed by journalists.'

'Croatian investigators identified the unmanned aircraft that crashed in Zagreb as a Soviet-era Tu-141 that was used for reconnaissance missions in both countries in the 1980s.'

  15. Pentagon Press Briefing (about an hour ago): Some caution being exercised on this crazy Nuke stuff.

'Such provocative rhetoric and possible changes to nuclear posture involving the most consequential weapons in our respective arsenals is unacceptable. The United States has not taken any similar steps. And so in an effort to demonstrate that we have no intention in engaging in any actions that can be misunderstood or misconstrued, the secretary of defense has directed that our Minuteman-III intercontinental ballistic missile test launch scheduled for this week to be postponed.

Now, we did not take this decision lightly, but instead, to demonstrate that we are a responsible nuclear power. This is not a step backwards in our readiness, nor does it imply that we will necessarily cancel other routine activities to ensure a credible nuclear capability. We remain confident in our strategic posture, as we've said before, and our ability to defend the homeland and our allies and partners remains fully intact and ready. We recognize at this moment of tension how critical it is that both the United States and Russia bear in mind the risk of miscalculation, and take steps to reduce those risks.'
