  1. FWIW, I just talked to a buddy who flies at SWA and he pointed out one (potential) disadvantage to getting a 737 type is that since SWA is the only airline that requires one, any other airline may look at it and see that they're not you're #1 choice. That had never crossed my mind 'til he mentioned it. AWACS has a Level D sim, which I think means it would be eligible. I guess that would be the only upside of flying E-3s. That and the sweet 707 type rating.
  2. I think there are definitely instances when it could work (being passed over might help), but to me it seems the exception to the rule in today's military. When I look at an O-6 and contemplate his/her schedule, I don't want to be showing up every day at 0630 and staying until 1900 (or later), then showing up every Saturday to work on OPRs etc. (I've even seen some O-5 SQ/CCs do this). I would rather be doing other things with my life.
  3. "2." Somebody once said, in answer to the question "are you going to do 20?" "No, because I don't want to be that guy up on the stage at my retirement ceremony apologizing to my family." That kinda stuck with me.
  4. WG/SE has paper copies if you want to read it. Also, I'm pretty sure SQ/SE will let you read the report, the SQ is just doing an "official" brief in 3 weeks. I admit, when I heard the reason for the 3 week delay, I thought it was pretty absurd, but ultimately I suppose it's the CC's decision when to brief his SQ...
  5. Rachel Maddow also makes a few of the same points as this article does in her book Drift, which I thought was pretty well written.
  6. Liquid, Let me guess-you take leave on Saturdays and Sundays so you don't ever have use or lose... smh
