  1. I don't understand how we push this safety culture, yet we don't readily share safety information to everyone. The 'I have a secret' culture in many safety offices is rotten. Glad someone is bringing this up on a higher level.

Anyone read Approach magazine? Why doesn't the AF have something like that?

  2. Fozzy,

If you are looking for a decent 3B/2Ba house in the 'nicer' neighborhoods, you are looking at $1,500 and up just for the rent. That's right at the cap for an O3 w/ dependants. Good luck if you have pets, very few rentals allow pets and the ones that do charge up to a few hundred per pet.

AHRN is very fluid as demand is high for rentals, we also looked on real estate websites, craigs list, zillow, and trulia. Calling around to different realators was helpful as well. If you find something, you have to jump on it quickly.

  3. It is a huge step in the right direction that will put some pressure on the locals to lower the absorbent prices downtown. Perfect, nope, but a step forward.

Having drove around town for several days on the hunt for a good rental, I was amazed at the number of houses for sale. Friends there had told me, including one who's wife is a realator, how the market is definetly a buyer's market right now but it sucks for everyone trying to sell. I'm not a realestate expert, but I think that the new housing will hurt sellers for a period of time, but will drive down rental prices in the long run.

What infuriated me was that the rentals in Clovis were more expensive per sq/ft than anything I've ever seen, by a wide margin. Most rentals are two-three times the going mortgage rate if you bought a new house. Several friends bought a house since their mortgage was around 50% of their BAH. I just don't want to have any connection with Clovis when I get outa there. Fortunately, I got really lucky and found a great rental that is a new build AND within my BAH. Seriously felt like we won the powerball.

  4. What do you suppose she the foundation is after?

URGENT: If you live in West Virginia, Alabama, or Georgia and have purchased anything from “aviationautographs.com”, or if you attended Maxwell AFB Air Command & Staff College between 1982 and 2000, the General Yeager Foundation needs your help. Please contact editor@chuckyeager.net immediately. Thank you!

  5. It sounds more like they are trying to work out the queep on the pre tiral hearings in this case. I think this is the key paragraph:

The arguments the high court wants to hear apparently don’t involve the substance of the law – they involve at what point in a trial process a judge should hold a full hearing about whether evidence can be introduced about whether the defendant can assert that he enjoys immunity from prosecution because he was in fear for his life when he used deadly force. If a judge were to grant immunity, then a trial would not have to be held.

It seems that the defense attorney is butt hurt that the judge dismissed the motion for a full pre trial hearing (because it's absurd), but since the law wasn't clear on this point he decided to file the emergency petition with the S.C supreme court.

It's a matter of if a full pre trial hearing required. Not a change in the law. Don't worry, this guy is still gonna fry.

On a side note, good on law enforcement for re-examining the evidence. The murder was in 2005, they picked up this douchbag in 2012.

  6. Kirtland was supposed to have the grand opening of their gun counter this weekend. I was told they had $400,000 worth of inventory to debut and that included a lot of ammo.

...and it lasted all of 30 or so minutes. The BX was a zoo. The gun counter was a zoo on methanphetamines. The mariachi band was a nice touch though.

  7. Going to shoot my 597 this afternoon, zero it in and see how it shoots. Already have a list of mods (hammer and extractor first) to make it a fun little tack driver.

How is the ammo situation for you guys? It seems to be getting better here in ABQ if you stay away from the BBSGS and even they aren't typically selling out of stuff same day. I've been taking my wife with me so I can get 4 boxes of .22 LR (CCI & American Eagle) at a time, will have bought 1200 rounds in three days come tomorrow.

  8. I was back home recently and saw a lot of people out supporting the recall petition, it was awesome to see folks standing up against Morse and Giron. My home state has Colorado liberals have gone full retard and it's not just the gun stuff.

So back to the topic of guns, anyone here have any of the newer Remington 957s? I've shot the standard 22lr, but am curious about the heavy barrel versions. Just looking for a fun semi-auto 22 to help with the prairie dog population.

  9. Hit up a few breweries in Durango recently. Durango Brewing Company, Steamworks Brewing, and my favorite...SKA!

    Durango Brewing Co.

Blueberry Wheat - I don't like fruity beers, so I just had a sample since they were pushing as if they could convince me otherwise. I guess it wasn't all that bad, not super sweet or a glass of carbonated blueberry juice. My wife liked it...so there ya go

Durango Pale Ale - seemed like your average pale ale. Nothing really stood out.

    Steamworks Brewing Co.

Colorado Kölsch - pretty decent Kölsch. Crisp, light, very easy to drink.

Lizard Head Red - nice red, bit more kick from hops than most reds with a good malty taste.

    Ska Brewing

Mexican Logger - summer in a can. light lager, refreshing, could throw these back all day. Don't put a lime in it.

Decadent Imperial IPA - ever wonder what it would be like if a bushel of hops kicked down every tastebud in your mouth? Well here ya go.

True Blonde Dubbel - an ok dubbel, slight sour aftertaste

Vernal Minthe Stout - Suprisingly good, I expected some minty abomination here. Just the slightest touch of sweetness in this sout. Good session beer.

    Lip up fatty!

  10. When he was running 3rd AF, I flew with him multiple times to include a week long trip around France/Italy (rough life, I know). Great leader, down to earth, no-nonsense kinda guy, good pilot. Everyone that flew with him, liked him. Glad to see he's still at it.

  11. Can't speak for Republic's operating procedures, but I've been in a similar situation. Working underneath the approach to SFO and even with separation, both aircraft eyes on and non-converging, the Airbus went around and stated that they had to honor the RA.

I agree with Butters...honor it since ya don't know exactly who is causing it. No need to disregard it or do something different and end up like the 757/Tupelov over Switzerland.
