  1. i think that they are all pretty much the same-from what i have seen-jeppesen sure is nice though
  2. yes you have to buy your uniforms-in your freshmen year you gave the uniform guy a deposit to "rent" the uniforms for four years. if you make it to commissioning then you pony up and pay the piper for the rest of what is owed. it is a far supperrior deal to buy them at your det. especially if you go in and get new ones 1/2 way through your senior year.
  3. I will be IFS complete in a week-my RNLT date is 5 dec. class start date is 14 dec. so if i understand correctly i can take the 7 days to PCS show up on say the 29 of november and report in. then they would give me 8 days to find a place. that would bring me to the 5 of dec. so would training start on the 5 or not until the 14? el roy- you say living onbase is not that bad. i have a wife, so what kinda options do you think would be our best. pros/cons to being on base. training is only 10 mos. right? thanks
  4. i am an ad lt awaiting nav training in Dec. per the rules i was offered up to 10 days for free leave to go house hunting with the wife. the obvious catch is that i pay travel/lodging and such. basically it is free leave, as ya'll already know. anyway, us this a good idea to go down there, can i save money by taking space A or is that just not realistic for a 10 day trip to randolph. ok-or can i take the 10 days house hunting free leave predate from my RNLT date plus 8 days permissive TDY so it is actually 18 days pre RNLT date. which would all be paid for because it is travel time. also they give like 7 days to drive so really it would be 25 days worth of paid travel. I know this is not right, and i know that something important happens on my RNLT date but what-the overiding questin here is how to best makismize the dollar and time. search function was accomplished thanks dudes [ 20. 5. was just wondering the different ideas/therories behind the navy and AF having different refuleing setups. like the probe or the basket. why not have them all the same so that they would be interchangeable. [ 08. August 2006, 18:02: Message edited by: Toro ]
  6. i think that you have to be retired
  7. I thought the Air Force issued the ASS MASTER to its Globmaster community?
  8. okay no sleeping but what i meant was dipping/chewing/copenhagen/snoosing on the airplane-do the IN's get pissed? thanks
  9. do the IN's get pissed that your calculations are off or do they expect it and it is no big deal-also what did you train in w/ the navy
  10. was just wondering what you nav studs out there thought of the T-43. is it like flying on an airliner or what. did they build you a window to look out of. do you ever do any low level work. or are you just to busy to care about the ride. also, another serious question, do the IN's get pissed if you snoose on the plane. 11. yes i started IFS, the process is fairly simple. go to, http://19afpub.randolph.af.mil and download the IFS package. make sure it is the IFS and not the IFT/NIFT because that is still up there. it was easier for me with the FBO that I went through because they have dealt with guys in my situation before as far as dealing with insurance/rates and such. anyway, contact 19AF/HQ and get an authorization # to begin flying. fax AETC form 410 "hazardous activities" w/ your bosses signature along with AF FROM 127a. (all these are on the packet) and that is all that you need to start. I think that you have two weeks to download and start, I think that it says on your orders. feel free to PM w/ any q's good luck [ 02. August 2006, 06:13: Message edited by: Toro ]

  13. Really? are thought that they were in high demand?
  14. can one make a career as a nav, in todays AF, with new trends in technology and such, starting riiiiiiiiight now.
  15. yea no offense meant by my comment. my POV is pretty limited and all of my oppinions are purely speculation. thats why i am asking the pros
  16. i tried to find some direct opinions on the matter. however, my question is what ya'll think the future of navigators/CSO is going to be. certainly technology can replace them. why are they in high demand now? are they going to be groomed into UAV pilots? has the curriculum changed at UNT drastically/often?
  17. ive heard that you only get three chances to pass either a check ride or written test at UNT/Randolph, the whole time, and it is very realistic that one may drop out. on the flip side ive heard that you get like forty tries in UPT and you are basically forced through the program. how do the two compare with regards to attrtion and tolerance? that is one thing that i have heard-however i have also heard that i would be exempt from that rule because i would be married and have that one dependant (obviously)-apparently if you are married then you get DLA the first time around is the argument
