Regardless of whether it is masked or not, I would get it done to err on the conservative side so in 4-5 years when it becomes unmasked again, you aren't caught with your pants down.

Honestly, I'd just ask the cadre these questions. The more you communicate with them, the more they can help you and keep you informed of the correct info. I don't think they retroactively pull scholarships, but things always change.

I'm pretty sure you get a conditional anytime your GPA falls below 2.5. It's been a few years for me since ROTC, but I had mine go below 2.5 and they told me I had to get it above 2.5 to get rid of the conditional.

I want to know how you plan on telling who is in ROTC and who isn't.

I don't understand it, but these DDs need to take a step back and think about what they are doing and how they are acting. They are acting like the teacher's pet who tattles on everyone. Ridiculous. Keep fighting the good fight, even though I don't know how far it'll get considering leaders don't want to feel like they are "losing control." It is really sad that w/ all of the comforts the Deid has, sometimes you'd rather be a lot more uncomfortable in a forward deployed location in a more dangerous setting to avoid all of the ridiculous self-imposed baloney (i know, it's spelled bologna).

I bet many Deid individuals haven't read this reg, so it couldn't hurt to carry it around if you feel up to it.

the word is there is no replacement in the near future, but sky king is on to something. currently, there is no c-21 funding after 2012 so I guess that leaves southwest to move the boys around, but we'll see. currently, fargo, csprings, and bradley have c-21s and have been flying josac missions just like active duty. there is a good possibility all c-21s could go to the guard, but again, that's just speculation.

My wife worked in NYC in advertising while I finished up college and got commissioned. Her rule was that she wouldn't give it all up unless I "put a ring on it". We got engaged right before I commissioned and got married about 5 mos later. I got moved up in UPT by 6 mos and that was a shock to us both as our honeymoon ended up being over Thanksgiving break instead of getting to take a week of leave and go somewhere. I can't say that I've been in your same situation, but the only real advertising opportunities are in large cities, and there aren't many AF bases that fit that bill. Ultimately, she moved with me and has gotten the closest job to advertising at the places we've been. In your situation, something has to give. Either she has to give up her marketing career, you have to give up your AF dreams, or you can do the distance thing (which some people do also). I can't tell you which is best, but I can tell you that if you SIE from UPT, you will probably be cross trained into another career field and have to finish up your 4 year commitment from OTS. So your best situation is 4 years in the AF doing who knows what at who knows where. You will deploy and be gone a lot in many career fields to include pilot, and your girlfriend would have to accept that. Otherwise, you'll have to give up the AF or your girlfriend. Sorry, it sounds like a tough situation, and I can't, nor can anyone else, give you the easy answer. We can just give a few opinions.

I don't know what life is like at Ramstein, but I can speak for CONUS. Mission is the same, deployments are about 90-120 days once a year, training is still at Dallas and Keesler. If there is another assignment you really want, don't delay it for the C-21.

I've been here for 4 mos and am heading out this week. Regardless of the rule that "you shouldn't use the internet in the BPC building unless you live there", I've found that the internet works pretty damn well over there (I live in CC). Just don't make a lot of noise and mind your own business and nobody will say anything to you. I've rarely gotten the internet to work anywhere in CC. As for dehumidifiers, save the money and go downtown to the carrefour store. In the air freshener section, you can buy disposable dehumidifiers for about a dollar each. They last 30 days and pull a lot of moisture out of the room. I spent 4 bucks throughout the deployment and have been content w/ that. Good luck to those at the Deid...Peace out

Looks like the dumbness continues...got an email from the first sgt today saying that they are changing the auab uniform reg to require that pt shirts stay tucked in at ALL times (including while working out/running) and that we are required to salute in PT gear, even officers of a higher rank that are wearing PT gear that we recognize. I think some people were getting too much morale and we need to take it down a notch.

1234567...enjoy your time off. You run the risk of the numbers changing even if they are accurate right now. That will only hurt you. Plus, the advice I was given by a major when I was casual was "you'll never have it as easy as you do when your casual, so enjoy EVERY minute of it". If I only knew then how easy I had it, I would not have even considered worrying about studying for UPT that early. I'd say start working the boldface/ops limits 10 days out, that's it. Granted this is my post-UPT opinion, take it or leave it.

There is no set formula as it is different for everyone. I'd say be yourself and do those things that interest you b/c you will do better if you enjoy it. My grades stunk and I did no extracurricular ROTC activities. However, I showed up on time to all of the mandatory activities and gave them 100%, which led to a higher commander's ranking. I did well on the PFT to make up for grades. I was one of the few that commissioned that did not do AAS and I did fine at field training and got a pilot slot. If you are worried about DG in ROTC, you'll have to do all of the extra stuff (AAS, drill team, etc.), but in my case those extra activities did not factor into getting a pilot slot. Each person has to do ROTC their own way. Just curious from the previous posts, does "PT" stand for party time?:)
