  1. As a female , I take exception to the sexually suggestive mini-movies that some member users are using on this forum- especially the "boob" ones! Why are these allowed?; I bet if I had a guy doing similar things with his private area on mine, it would be taken off...? Sure, some will say, if you don't like it don't participate in this forum. It's not just for horny guys is it???

As another female, I think you need to get over yourself.

  2. Was your husband in Blues?

Reason why I ask is this:

You said that while you were stationed at the UPT base, everyone was cool. Chances are that most of the time you are hanging out with these people, they were in Flight suites. While there are rules and regs about PDA in flight suites, when you are a flight suite, it's pretty lax. Plus, chances are you might have been at the club or squadron bar or something along those lines where it wasn't "formal-ish"

Now, if he was in blues, chances are he was in a more "formal-ish" setting, and that's why you get "yelled" at. I don't think the major had any right to yell at YOU, he/she should have taken your husband aside and said something, IMO.

My husband has been in for 11yrs, he has "different" personallities in each uniform. If he's in blues, he's very rigid, by the book, and no touching at all. If he's in his BDU's, he's the same, only he'll give me a hug if we are parting ways or something, but he will not hold my hand or anything. Now, if he is in his Flight suite... He'll put his arm around me or hold my hand.

I hope that answers some of your questions.

Keep in mind, some people are more lax on issues then others.

  3. I've lived on Base for the past two years, and I have to say that most (not all) of teh gate guards here at Vance are either:

    A) Retired Military

    B) "Active" Army/Air National Guard, and this is their job when they aren't deployed or doing drill.

    C) Are Police Officers or Sherrifs, and this is their second job.

Most of the guys/gals here are very curtious and friendly. They do their job well, and if you get a "pissy" gate guard, well it's propbably the fault of one of your pompous co-workers.

  4. Ello!

    - Who is able to get stationed at Korea? Can it be anyone (heavy/fighter) or just fighter?

    - If you are able to make it a 3yr tour, can one bring his/her dogs (along with the spouse, of course!)?

    Thanks!

  5. It depends. I'm not trying to be difficult, but that's the best answer anyone is going to be able to give you. If your assignment is to Laughlin AFB, the chances of her getting a job are just about zero. If you end up at Andrews, she will probably be able to find a great job.

It is frustrating trying to have a career while being a military spouse, but you can definitely make it work. Not every job will be the best paying job, or your dream job, or a job that is exactly what you studied in school, but you can usually find something.

Ditto what KM said, also, if she isn't opposed to a commute, she could always commute to a job, Like if you were stationed at Vance, she could commute to OKC, Tulsa, or Witchita.

  6. I have Sprint, and I get sub par service in housing on base here on NASCC. I called them, asking about canceling since I was on orders, etc. They told me I could (talk to retentions, they helped the most) but they offered me an additional 5% a month discount on my bill plus a free early upgrade on a phone. I took that since I won't be here long, and the service is tolerable. Regardless, they said I could without any issues.

    Thanks! This is most helpful!

  7. I'm totally thread-jacking here...

Has anyone used PCS orders to get out of their cell phone contract? (There was a thread about this... somewhere... I can't find it!)

We're moving, and we have Sprint. According to Sprints homepage, the coverage in the area we will be at is either no coverage or "fair."

I called Sprint and asked the CSR, but she seemed clueless as to the questions I was asking.

I'm sorry for posting this question here, I can't find that thread anywhere! (and it's 4:45am, and I haven't gone to bed yet! :>)

    Thanks!

  8. My fiance and I are considering doing the legal (courthouse) marriage about 1 year before our big wedding ceremony - does anyone know if the Catholic church will still marry you if you have a courthouse marriage? I heard they will because they don't recognize the other one and I also heard they won't marry you.

Anyone have a similar experience or know someone who did?

Now, I didn't get married in a catholic church..

But, You might still have to go through "counseling" and/or take a "are you compatable together'' test and what have you before they will "marry" you again.

Your best bet would be to ask the priest who is going to marry you what HIS requierments are, and go from there.

  9. Is the Dole plantation still up and running? I heard that it was getting closed down sometime? Could have been a rumor..

I LOVED the Dole Plantation! It should be open too!!!

I stayed at the Hale Koa for my honeymoon, and it was BEAUTIFUL! We had one wall that was a huge glass wall, and it was alll water views!!!!! AMAZING!!!!

We also did the Pearl Harbor tour... very very touching... amazing.. I suggest that every American do that tour at least once in their life.... We didn't do any "special" for military only tour.. we did the typical tourist tour.

  10. I saw an e-mail last week welcoming the new AD squadron commander in a few days. We've had sponsor meetings, done up proposals for each office on how we're going to integrate the AD folks and I've personally met 3 people while I was deployed who had orders for this summer's PCS cycle coming to Pease, as well as knowing friends who have orders to March and Scott, so it seems to be rolling right along from what I can see.

I guess they aren't taking any more UPT grads till the squadron is in works.

The only reason why I asked, is because I would like to get contact info on the spouses.. see who gets where first (I know out of the UPT guys, we're the first ones to PSC there....)-- maybe they can get info for new AD families coming to pease and have you.. My intentions are good, I swear.

  11. Hey, I know this information was posted awhile ago, so I was wondering if it is still valid, or if anyone could recommend a good OB/GYN in Enid that I would be able to see fairly quickly. We're arriving on base on May 12, and I'll be almost 6 months pregnant. I also have a two-year-old, so if anyone could give me the name of a good pediatrician, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

The Pediatrician on base is really good, from what I hear.

Are you high risk? If so, Dr. McFadden is a great DR.

Dr.Parker--580-242-3870 (he just delivered my neighbor's baby) and Dr. Weaver ( he is my GYNO.. I adore him.. if I was to get PG, I would fly back just to see him..)--580-233-1100 are all really good DR's.

    Keuchel David M DO--(580) 237-7280

  12. The 33rd DO or SQ/CC's house (Can't remember if he moved to the CC office or not) was hit last night at VN. They're trying to sell, so bad timing. Keep them in your prayers, everyone was okay.

The 33rd's DO lives on base, three houses up from me, so you must be talking about Cappy and his family!

They will definitly be in my thoughts!
