  1. Looking for info on the ski resorts in the Albuquerque area. Do Sandia Peak or Ski Santa Fe offer military discounts? I've read that Ski Santa Fe is better. Is it worth the drive up there if I'm only going to be in Albuquerque for a 3 day weekend (2 days of boarding)? Has anybody done the drive from Laughlin to Albuquerque? I'm figuring it'll take about 9-10 hours. Thanks.
  2. Me and the wife did space-a to Hawaii last summer. I took a month of leave and we wanted to spend 7 days in Hawaii. The trip ended up being 11 days with an extra 3 days spent in Hickam billeting and 1 at Travis. We got lucky with the flight out there, ended up catching a direct flight from Scott to Hickam. Trying to get back was when the fun started. Flights kept on getting canceled out of Hickam so we had to bag drag between the AMC terminal and billeting 3 days in a row trying to get out of there. Overall, it was a great trip though. Instead of paying commercial air we had to pay an extra 4 nights of billeting. Not a big deal. That Peppard site really helped because it shows all of the daily space-a schedules. I would not do it though if I only had 7 days of leave. I would recommend taking 14 days of leave for a 7 day trip. Also, you'll probably have better luck traveling in the spring or fall compared to summer because of all of the parents traveling with kids during the summer.
  3. eSnacko sells a gun barrel plaque. It doesn't say but I assume it's an M61 barrel since the plaque was made for the 433 Weapons Squadron Commander. I'm sure they could personalize it for your husband with his squadron. Gun Barrel Plaque
  4. The "T-6 by the numbers" gouge does tell you the recommended tire pressure for the main and nose gear along with every other number in the Dash 1. I don't feel that I wasted any penguins memorizing it and if you have free time at your BS casual job you might as well learn it. When you do start class, you don't have to waste time memorizing those numbers and can start on something else.
  5. For the most part it's pretty accurate. There are a handful of numbers (can't remember which ones off the top of my head) that are different but you'll figure them out when you get your Dash 1. I'd say it's worth memorizing if you have the time. Making flashcards is definitely the way to go. It's a metric fecal ton of notecards but it's easier to memorize. The new OG here at Laughlin told our class on day 1, "A lot of you were probably told not to study before UPT and enjoy your time off. You know who told you that? Satan." Take that FWIW.

  7. Trackman Here is the link to the announcement for 09 Active Duty Board. It states what needs to be in your package (sts). https://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/Docs/DPA/S...UFTBoardMsg.doc Flyaf05 is correct that you should give your package to your sq exec and then they'll foward it up the chain and send it to AFPC. You should put the package together yourself though. Make sure to write the bullets for your sq commander and wg commander on the second page. The deadline for complete applications to AFPC is 14 Nov so you really need to get the ball rolling. I was our sq exec last year and put together our squadron's applications. This is how we put ours together. The package should be in the standard blue AF folder with a Staff Summary Sheet on top. The package should have five tabs inside: 1. AF form 215 2. ADSC letter (ATCH 3 TO AFI 36-2205) 3. SF 88/93 (Flying Class 1 Physical and Medical History) 4. Copy of Private Pilot's License and last page of logbook 5. LORs. You can separate them with cardstock and use clips to attach to the folder. You should also include a 3.5 floppy that has your electronic version of 215 and any LORs. Hope that helps.
  8. University of Illinois has a real nice aviation program. Best ROTC Det around too and probably hotter girls than Purdue. Also #1 ranked basketball team.
