  1. Not surprisingly though, that article is extremely similar to a paper I had to write for TUIU. But seriously, I read that article thinking there was going to be something helpful after the "balls have a tough life" attention step. Nope.

Who knows though? Maybe there is some suicidal sports fanatic out there that just changed his mind because he can now relate to a Bocce Ball.

  2. Here's a sneak peek for you ladies at what I'll be doing if I get RIF'd... writing ChickLit. It's probably just as important to the defense of the nation as the monkey dance I do on a daily basis right now anyway.

The Wg/CC enters the building on a friday shortly after the lunch push. As he walks the corridors that are dimly lit by flickering fluorescent lighting, he overhears muffled laughter deep within the training office.

"Clearly, this can't be productive." He mutters under his Elmer's glue scented breath. "Laughter in the office can only come from a sexual or racially insensitive joke."

The colonel continues his journey to the squadron commander's office, hell bent to know why his people are not taking the training seriously...

  3. I don't know how these broadband internet providers are allowed to get such a monopoly.

Below: Map of Americans with access to only on broadband ISP. I would like to see if North Dakota's service is better than the national average.

  4. The best SROs I've seen were harder on the other studs than the IPs were. The worst SRO I've seen let people have shitty attitudes without 'adjusting' them in the study room. Remind them the government is paying them (very well) to do something really cool. Half assing it is not only wasteful, it's insulting to a tax payer.

Dropbox, Google Docs sometimes don't work on a gov computer. I'd suggest making a gmail account for the class and emailing everything worthwhile there. You can open that anywhere, including .mil computers. Plus, you can directly email it to yourself or add anything, anywhere without any specific software.

  5. If you get an email this week saying that your approval had been a mistake, then you'll know

Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

I was told I wasn't going to Base X because it didn't have services for my daughter. The day I started my drive to my TDY enroute, AFPC told me that they changed their minds. They strung me along for a good 3 weeks.

  6. Apples and oranges in terms of acceptable risk and rationale for ORM.

On one hand, if the AF loses an aircraft, it has potentially lost highly trained crewmembers and a valuable asset critical to the defense of the nation.

Yeah, but buses are expensive too...

    Well, it's a technique.

WTF, you need a PSA to not $hit in the street? Crazy Indians.

This is why every time you hear a headline of "Baby Born with 8 arms", it's usually in India.

  8. That's no different than closing every gate into a base for 4 hours for an exercise. I get it, you need to show that you can stop traffic in and out of the base and secure it. Why can't they just roll the gates shut for 69 seconds, re-open them and slap a piece of paper with "SIM CLOSED" on it? We simulate everything else for God's sake and the guards were just standing there looking at the cars. This happened at Laughlin with my wife and 1 month old daughter stuck 3 cars from the front of the line.
