  1. I got mine four years ago in Texas, it should cost about $4000 if everything falls in place, ie the weather stays good the whole time, planes don't break, there are no delays getting your FAA medical etc, all of these things mean that you may not fly atleast once or twice a week. For some people that means that it will take a few more lessons to really get proficient. I guess there the short answer is that if everything works out perfectly and you get done right at the FAA min of 40 hours then $4000 is a good general estimate depending on the exact prices, but expect to spend alittle more than the minimum.
  2. What do most guys do for computers at UPT? Is it advisable to grab a good laptop that you can take with you to class, or just stick to a desktop in your quarters?
  3. So, looking over all of the postings recently, there has been alot of talk about the tweet gouge. Everyone seems to agree that guys inbound for UPT should at least know the Boldface, but there has been alot of talk about the boldface having changed. Can it really change so much that it is nolonger worth looking at? Also what is the Boldface test like, fill in the blank, multiple guess, or is it verbatium write out every boldface? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Wow, did not quite expect this many replies. Thanks, but to possibly add to the furry, what is happening with the training unit that the AF stood up, I believe at Luke? Are we still training the intial cadre or has that been put on hold?
  5. Anybody out there know what the current story on the Osprey is?I know they are back in testing, saw one flying around Edwards two days ago, but what is their proposed IOC date? If you have got any info I would appreciate it.
  6. A question for all of the IPs and UPT guys out there. I have got my PPL and a little over 150 hours VFR with a few multi hours dispersed through out from flying down in TX. But the reality is that other than my BFR I haven't sat through formal training in nearly 4 years. I remember all of the things that come with sitting and burning holes flying VFR and GPS X-country, but items like weather and X-country planning have slipped. The powers that be are shipping me straight out to CAFB for class. How much of this knowledge are we expected to know and how much is retaught after IFT? Thanks for the help. [ 05.
