  1. Personally, I think Powell would be a good choice, but I might end up eating those words. At a minimum, I definitely agree with the Powell doctrine.

I think Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf would be a great fit right now...

    Cheers

  2. Wow, that didn't take long. Everyone knows you can't put the F-15 or the F-22 in a $hitty location! Sucks for the future 16 bubbas, Phoenix is a great town. Not sure about what kind for ranges they have out at Holloman but it's hard to beat the BMGR.

AFSOC should have moved to Holloman(MUCH better than Cannon) instead of Cannon and 22's should have been at Cannon, that way when the 22s leave the base would shut down for good...

    cheers

  3. Probably via the stupid-ass manpurse "they" require you to wear at the Deid (with your ID card fully visible through the transparency).

Every time I read about this kind of shit happening (E disrespects O, O corrects E on the spot, E cries to Dad ASAP, Dad smashes O later), it truly boggles my mind that officer leadership in the United States Air Force has degraded to this level.

    Management...

    cheers

  4. On the bright side, we lost BK and Pizza Hut, but gained KFC at KAF! $15 two piece special anyone? Nothing goes better with fried chicken than the lofty aroma of four shit ponds within a stone's throw of everything. I'll take the Deid anyday.

    Charlie, How's KAF?

Get rid of the Shoes at the Deid and it wouldn't be half bad... Until then, I'll take Bagram anyday.

    cheers

  5. Can anyone point me to a regulation or reference that mandates that the tanker and receiver exchange tail #s during AR? I understand why we do this (mostly accounting, scheduling, but also in the event that bad gas gets passed), but i need to find some place where it is written down for instructional purposes.

    It's been nice knowing you...

  6. The BUFF is from the same era & company and the YB-52 first flew 15 April 1952 (58+ years ago... :-P)

They sure don't make 'em like the used to...

The Herk is coming up on 56 as well, 23 Aug 54 if I'm not mistaken.

And you're right in saying they definitely don't make like they used to.

    cheers

  7. I have no idea.. I read 2 Navs.... but have no idea if its single ship? Formation? Nav and FCO are the same on the Whiskey as far as I understand......?

Have you gone through Little Rock? The rest of your training will be here at Cannon. You WILL be busy when you get qualed. PM me if you have any questions.

    Good luck

    cheers

  8. Sweet Jesus, no. Dragon Spear implementation is bad enough, we don't need every AMC aircraft/crew out there strapping on guns and going to town so that they can "bring more to the fight".

Gunship guys don't do night low level terrain following threat penetration airdrop for a reason. The same logic works the other way around as well.

Schwartz was at one time qualified in gunships although I wouldn't classify him as an "old gunship guy". He was also qualified in the YMC-130. You don't see that every day.

    What does that mean?

I know what DS is... I am curious to know what you meant.

  9. #1. What AC/EC/MC-130 can AR at 20k?

#2. You COMPLETELY missed the point. I understand the limitations of ATC, the point is don't wait until we ask to coordinate.

Huh? How much AR have you done? The POS boom interphone rarely works to the point of comprehension.

CH hit it right on the head, we said "we are very heavy and will need a toboggan..."

We were at 10k and tobogganed to 7k... yeah we were extremely heavy well above 155k.

    cheers

  10. Good to know. 95% of the times I have refueled C-130s were on BE's we do to HRT. They aren't taking much if any gas. We always coordinate on what speed they want. 190-200 is usually what they ask for.

EC/ACs arent the only 130's that need the toboggan, MC's definitely need it too.

In a recent contingency I fell off the boom at max power, I requested the toboggan and had pre-briefed it with the tanker crew enroute to the track so I thought they would go right into it. When I asked for it the said stand by for coordination, un-fvckin believable! I was slightly annoyed when we had to wait another few minutes for the coordination with atc and then they started the decent without saying anything.

I could complain more but I was just happy to have gotten the gas and not needed to divert for gas.

    cheers

  11. Do you really think there will be a follow-on? I know of no human yet who has escaped the graviational pull of Creech. I know one guy who was able to get to a B-52 TX-course following a Pred assignment...but he got pulled mid-way through the course. He is now in his second tour at Creech. The numbers simply aren't in favor of AFPC's follow-on promise at this point.

And, your follow on to the MQ-1 predator will be the... MQ-9 Reaper!!!

    Congrats, I'm kidding...

    but seriously

cheers  you're going to need it

  12. I tried searching "archery" and didn't get the answers I was looking for. If there's something I missed or if this should be part of another thread, please let me know.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the rules for having a compound bow and equipment on base (or who I could contact to find out). Do I have to store it at the Armory like I would a gun? I'm at Columbus if that helps. Thanks!

I had my bow on base back at Little Rock, they even had an archery range on base. Shouldn't be an issue...

    cheers

  13. When we call ground for clearance, we don't give a destination, just "tactical to the north." I wasn't on the crew, but I heard about it later, when a copilot gave their destination ICAO to the tower chief.

Ground: Ooohhhh Crome XX, you tell me destination is Baghdad. I call Al Quaida. Five thousand dollars and I won't call them!

I got the chance to meet him back in '05 and the guy has some stories to tell, if you get the chance it's worth it.

I have been in the other theater for the past couple years so it sounds like I've missed out on some gems...

    cheers

  14. First off, the guy in Toro's post is only just obese--he's a big boy in terms of height and bone structure.

I don't see a problem at all with charging extra for a person above X amount of pounds. Most airlines now charge an extra fee for bags and their reasoning was due to the added weight coupled with higher fuel costs. So why should I have to pay an extra $30 or whatever for a 40 lb bag when I only weigh 155 lbs? What I think they should do is either charge a surcharge per X amount of lbs after 200 lbs or say that everyone gets to board with 250 lbs (yourself including your bags) and anything more is an additional surcharge.

I'm not all about the airlines nickel and diming everyone but I am about people paying their fair share--and also not having to sit between two, let's just say 'huge' individuals, that would be nice too. By the way, how come I never get to sit next to the hot chick that I see waiting in line to board?

200 lbs and then you pay extra?!?! WTF? I'm 6'3" 215 and would look ridiculous if I weighed 155 it would be impossible to keep up with. I know many other guys that are of the same profile.

But 200? Seriously? Granted I do feel that there should be some line to differentiate between your average human and the fatty but whether that should be at the discretion of the Airline who knows. Maybe they should have a sample space like they have for carry-on bags, if you can't fit in the seat then you pay extra.

    f'it

    cheers

  15. Do they teach French test pilots how to put up the landing gear? I hope they wrote up the overspeed.

The whole thing about having two sets of engines and props is going to be a tremendous ass pain when this abomination starts to deploy... Or when the ever reliable computer $hits the bed. Whatever, I'll continue to fly my 88 model 130 and be completely happy.

    I'm just saying

    Cheers
