  1. So quasi-off topic but I had nightmares over this last night.....I was in the clinic for some shots yesterday, I look up and what do my eyes see, some SSgt walking down the hall with a reflective belt in. his. blues....please tell me this is not becoming a trend across the AF?!

God forbid a car comes driving through the clinic and the SSgt gets hit because he didn't have his disco belt on...

Too early in the week to start drinking?

    Cheers

  2. Does anyone know if MC-130W pilots are sent for training at Kirtland? Or is it all in-house after Little Rock?

It will be all in-house at the 551st at Cannon. Expect to be delayed and have a non-flying desk job at either the 551 or the 73rd.

You are joining the squadron at a very interesting time...

FW pm with any other questions

    Good luck and cheers

  3. Remember when a flight suit used to be a distinctive uniform? Now you can only be distinctive as a cook, flight attendant, or Equestrian Competitor.

    Chapter 9

    DISTINCTIVE UNIFORMS, ITEMS AND EQUIPMENT

9.3. USAF Honor Guard and Arlington National Cemetery Chaplains.

9.4. Installation and Base Honor Guard, Color Guard, Drill Team and Military Funeral Detail.

9.5. USAF Band, USAF Academy Band and USAF Regional Band.

    9.6. Security Forces.

    9.7. Air Force Food Service

    9.8. Flight Attendant Uniforms

    9.9. Medical Scrubs.

9.10. Equestrian Competition Service Dress Configuration

    Are you fvcking kidding me?

Horses!??? Talk about a useless program that could probably save a decent chunk of change...

I need a beer, cheers

  4. I think your MAJCOM determines specifics. Here's some stuff from PACAF's policy:

FOR CONTINGENCY TDYS SUCH AS OPERATION NORTHERN WATCH OR ENDURING FREEDOM, CURRENT POLICY IS THAT COMMANDERS WILL PROVIDE DEPLOYED PERSONNEL WITH 1 DAY OFF FOR EVERY 6 DAYS DEPLOYED, UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 14 DAYS OFF.

PACAF WILL MAKE AN ADDITIONAL PROVISION FOR CERTAIN PERSONNEL, APPROVED BY THE WING COMMANDER, WHO SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY SUPPORTED THE CONTINGENCY DEPLOYMENT FROM A NON-AOR BASE LOCATION. FOR EXAMPLE, TDY DUTY AS A DIRECT UTC BACKFILL. WING COMMANDERS ARE BEST SUITED TO DETERMINE WHICH INDIVIDUALS OR UNITS INCURRED SUCH SPECIFIC DUTY, AND THEY WILL APPLY THE SAME FORMULA AND POLICY ALLOTTED FOR DEPLOYED PERSONNEL IN DETERMINING TIME OFF UPON RETURN TO BASE.

FOR ALL OTHER NON-CONTINGENCY UNACCOMPANIED TDYS EXCEEDING 30 OR MORE CONSECUTIVE DAYS, COMMANDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CONSIDER THE CURRENT PASS POLICY (IAW 36-3003, PARAS 8.3 AND 8.4) AS A WAY TO PROVIDE R&C, AS WELL AS A LIBERAL LEAVE OPPORTUNITY.

And your Sq/CC can waive the rest of your recon past your first 4 days... I believe.

Remember what they say about beatings: they will continue until morale improves

    cheers

  5. If it were me, I'd rather the entire world not know my identity. America may be damn proud, but there's alot of folks out there who may want to harm my family. ...There's something to be said for quiet professionalism.

This shot makes me sad: There are slide-clickers even at the O-7 level.

You do know who that O-7 is don't you?

  6. Hey all,

I just dropped slicks to little rock, Most of this info is pretty old, I was just wondering what deployments are like for new co-pilots, what the lifestyle is like and just some general information about the community! Thanks!

    Which Squadron?

No matter which one you'll have a good time.

    Welcome

    Cheers

  7. Affirm.

At least we have a few months until the move so we're thinking we'll build. It will actually be cheaper than buying one of the inflated established properties.

Expect to pay atleast $115 per square foot for the "quality" houses here...

    :flipoff: this place

  8. A while back I heard a story of a civilian flight instructor giving an intro lesson to a girl. He told the young miss that she had to blow on the pitot tube to clear it out before the flight...little did she know he turned the pitot heat on. Oops. Apparently he got fired after she had to go to the hospital for the burns.

That worked on the Tweet too! One of the many parts student harassment program...

    Cheers

  9. Thanks for the input. Sounds like I shouldn't rule it out based on location and it's not as bad as it sounds. The job would definitely be a good one but I think I need to try to get down there and visit first to see the area.

    What job?

And yes go see it first...

    cheers

  10. High Desert Brewing Company. Trust me on this one. The place might not look like much, but damn is their beer tasty, and their food is pretty decent too. Never lived there though, just stopped one night on my way home from a TDY.

Great place to live! NMSU doesn't have much of a football team but the females are very nice. I went to college there and wouldn't trade it. As for Juarez... Great target practice :sniper:

    Cheers

    pm me with any questions

  11. And that's where your feelings are misplaced. Crews walk because Command Post forgot to call, no ,matter where I have been CP has been the weak link in crew pick up. So if you walked, give those guys a shout and ask them WTF? Becareful calling them, they record all phone calls. Out bound crew? Did your Ops office call for crew pickup?

I assure you we are more than just bus drivers. But then any cargo flyer is a bus driver.....so see we have alot in common.

I'm gonna feed the troll! Fvck you if you think I should do differently :flipoff:

I'm at a lovely little airbase in the southwestern US and no it's not Dyess, I don't know how many times we(the squadron) call (trans dispatch not CP) well over an hour ahead of requested pick up time. We are not a busy base and Trans is and has been atleast 20 minutes late to pick us up at the squadron. At bus time we call dispatch back and get "we were never called" or some other BS excuse. I'd walk but it's well over a mile each way and carrying all my shiite I refuse to do it! Seriously, take some personal pride and pride in your job and get us, the "Air" part of the Air Force to do our job. This isn't the Trans Force or the Personnel Force or the Shoe Force!

    FML

    cheers
