  1. I'm in the process of doing my ATP in the next few weeks. Can anyone give any updates on mil friendly ATP courses in the Texas area? I'm not opposed to a type-rating program, but I'm not exactly seeking it out right now due to the SWA perception as mentioned in previous posts. I plan on doing the written through Sheppard Air and taking the actual exam here at DLF. Also, I've heard good things on the guy up in Boston, any updates there as well?

I'm too lazy to read back to see the references of SWA, but I did my ATP at Higher Power in September and got a B737 type with it all being in the sim. There is something about taking a check in the sim, they have a much better MC rate than an airplane... Or that was my luck in the 130. All that being said, the GI Bill paid for everything and I have an interview with SWA in a week. Just my $.02. Cheers

My crew and I fragged the shit out of that ford and managed to put our fair share of the holes in the towed vehicle on the first day of live fire.

To all you U-28 pansies getting out because of orders to Cannon, fuck you, hope you enjoyed florida and welcome to team cannon. I don't know about you, to the ones getting out because of cannon I'm sure I know about you, but I requested this place/command for the MISSION... I've had a blast here over the last 5 years and am getting out for other reasons. But seriously, if you dropped papers and still have a commitment... I'd welcome you and have a very nice house for sale in the North East of this amazing town and would give you a "friends" price but hope to be gone well before you show up.

    cheers

  3. Since the CG is shifting, is it better to get the cargo out as soon as possible, or as slowly as possible?

Why power back for a load of army dudes? Just to slow it up since dudes are jumping out of it?

The faster the load leaves the aircraft the better, makes the cg shift easier to handle than it happening slowly.

The reason for the power pull on paratroopers, think 60-ish jumpers weighing 250 lbs a piece all moving aft all at once and as each one jumps...

Again, never saw the cbt... Had to figure that out myself.

  4. This happened in CHS a couple years ago. The hangar was empty at the time. The foam was blowing all over the ramp after the doors were cracked. Pictures were up on Facebook so quickly that "leadership" had to send an e-mail telling people that photos of the flight-line were verboten unless approved through PA.

    CHS... Was the gear down?

  5. Please explain. Pred Reaper gets a 9 Line and clearance. Shot goes through the stack and all other players are unaware or not properly deconflicted. Its not the JTAC's fault and this becomes a story about how RPAs frequently shoot through stacks.

If the RPA is just shooting in a tic without clearance or SA on the stack, then I would hope there would be court martials.

If this is as common of an occurance as these posters make it appear, then I would have heard about it. If most fighter pilots have a story about a mystery hellfire dropping through an unprepared stack, then there would be a lot of comm about this.

Number one: not a fighter pilot... I think I'll head to the nearest kill box and shoot my internally carried load all over the place...

Are you fucking serious?!! I've had a 9-line passed via electronic means (not available to everyone)and the only reason I knew the engagement happened was the explosion that happened on the ground and the JTAC saying, yeah that's one of ours...

This shit happens more than you REMFs know/want to admit it does.

And you'll have to dig deep into the daytime sitreps but there are many occasions where this happened and nothing else was ever heard regarding these incidents.

  6. I landed on the center runway a few minutes after that intentional gear-up. I was surprised at how quickly it stopped and with very little damage.

How does someone intentionally land gear-up? Still have their wings?

What did the CVR record them saying? "Hold my beer and watch this shit?"

I saw a tweet do the same with speed break and flaps full land uneventfully, and flew the next day after it was hoisted onto a flatbed...

  7. This is about as WTF as it gets. But then again, could it be a ploy to get a conviction for murder while committing a felony? By claiming "stand your ground" he has essentially admitted to killing the homeowner in the process of committing a felony...armed at that. It would APPEAR the state may be setting up the perfect confession.

I'm not a SC Justice (I just studied SC Justiceology for one semester in college) but, I would say "stand your ground" doesn't apply when you are committing a crime. If that's the case, any criminal being chased by the cops who subsequently kills a cop can just claim that he thought his life was in danger...

    Nothing surprises me anymore...

If it goes it's just a sign of the state of our Country...

  8. Reminds me of a certain C-130 ramp at OAKN. It was designed to have Herks parking nose to nose, and would force them to reverse taxi uphill at max gross weight every time they wanted taxi out. Even though everyone involved knew it was ridiculous, they still spent $100K painting the lines that because the contract was already signed. When the ramp opened, we ignored the taxi lines until funding for removing and reprinting the lines was received (several hundreds of thousands more.)

Or a few maintainers and cans of yellow spray paint...

Back to the original topic; FWA in Afghanistan, I don't believe it.

    79 days left until freedom.

  9. Don't you insult her like that!

Read an interesting article in Rotor & Wing comparing this to the Sikorski X2. They mentioned that the X3 may not be able to handle crosswinds as well as a "traditional" compound helo design due to the fuselage blanking out one of the nacelles. Since the props provide the anti-torque in a hover, any null areas caused would significantly reduce performance. I have no idea if it is true or how the X3 performs with a crosswind, I just thought it was interesting.

Didn't we already have one? Albeit a few years ago, maybe when Rainman and M2 were still wet behind the ears Lts?
