Gotta love the 4-ship NDB procedure turn off a shitty SKE scope in the wx.
We did them every Tuesday and Wednesday at Ft Campbell, but usually a 2-ship. I miss the Herk.

I dint think it's ok. My point is that it's not limited to this administration. It isn't a GOP vs Dem thing... it's a giant bureaucracy that thrives on getting money from congress for perceived threats, with very little oversight on how the money is actually spent.
But add this to the other things the buffoons currently in charge and then it paints a very obvious picture to me. They are incompetent.

The hits keep coming with this administration. Have they done anything honest?!

The homeless in ANC are aggressive as well. Beware around the bus stop and Humpy’s.

Rule number one: Never pass up the opportunity to keep your mouth shut.
Cannot be stated enough, especially for the young, inexperienced ones.

Sue was the patch an epic TDY patch? Picture?
Back in the day flying 135s I got called out for wearing my friends BNA guard c-130 sq patch and a TN flag instead of the US flag while tdy to Mildenhall. “I’m still wearing my sac patch, what’s the problem” was my response.
I was a BNA C-130 guy. Who was your buddy? DM me

I think Chang needs to reveal himself upon retirement. Until then, keep enjoying the guessing game.

I’m just curious how this administration will use this to conduct the next social experiment.

I also never had any desire to be an airline pilot. But when it came time to retire, I realized I had a skill set that the airlines wanted to pay pretty decent money to utilize. And it ain’t just about the money. My life is much happier now without all of the bs while I served. I had a great 29 years but I now realize that life is much better on the outside. I really love my retirement career.

…this country was founded on christian principles and it has since strayed into anything but those. THAT is the root cause…
I honestly think this is the main problem we are facing.

Yup, but it will never go away. It kicks back a shit ton of money to the bases. Damn the time/drama/waste associated with it.
When I was a SQ/CC, the WG/CC pressured us to put members who were overdue on their cards in a deployed status so the wing wouldn’t lose its cash from the cc company.

During my RPA stint, I felt more like a system operator than a pilot. There were very few times I felt like I was piloting something. It made me miss the hell out of manned flying which I eventually returned to.

They know your wings mean Nav. On the flip side, I have no idea what any of their badges mean.

I don’t know, that’s giving them lots of credit. Most non flyers have no idea what plane is flown at their base.

What do you mean by this?
Mainly in jest but it did feel like they wanted us to look over here while something over there is happening. Kinda like a magician using slight of hand.

Does the type/quality of bottle matter? Like does it need to be some fancy whiskey or will some mediocre tequila do?
Be unique if you want. Maybe something local or well known, but don’t get something cheap.

I've only ever heard of one unit that had a distance requirement and it certainly wasn't for alert. We have alert on our base (fighters), but I can't imagine having a distance requirement. Many years ago, an OG/CC made a push for this, but he couldn't find a legal way to institute such a policy. Thankfully that dude was 100% by the book and since he couldn't find legal grounds to make it happen, he gave up. In all actuality, it isn't a big deal for my squadron because 95%+ of the squadron lives within 10 miles of the base, with a vast majority of those living within 5 miles. We're an odd spot where the area near the airport is actually the nicest part of the city.
I should have stated that it was a tanker unit without a true alert facility.

Keep the tradition alive and bring one. Give it to the person that greets/hosts you when you get there. Keep it simple.

Our "DNIF coverage," which has never really been a big problem, has always been to grab the nearest full-timer. If that didn't work, the sortie would cancel. Not really a common event. We would definitely not lean on DSG's to the point we would make them live within a certain distance.

I never heard any real discussions on “DNIF coverage” over my 29 yrs in the ANG. If someone went DNIF, someone else would, as you said, fill in or a canx.
Of the 3 units I was in, only 1 had a commute distance requirement and that was due to the alert mission.

I couldn't imagine giving a guard unit 8 days a month. That's a literal part time job at that point. But this sounds very much like a negative experience I had talking with a KC-135 unit that wanted all of their DSG's to live within 50nm of the base so they could be called in as DNIF coverage during the week.......
The unit I retired from has a 1 hr commute distance for crew, and it has nothing to do with DNIF coverage. It allows alert to be pulled at home.

I was Aeromedical Evacuation when I was enlisted a long time ago. When we had head injuries on board, we would request the lowest possible cabin altitude from the flight crew. BigRed is correct in that it has to do with intercranial pressures.

This is a very good question. I am also wondering what the answer may be, but I’m guessing it’s the loud voices.
