  1. The control wheels may help narrow it down a bit...
  2. How about the one right above it?
  3. This one's backward [ 29. January 2006, 12:35: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]
  4. Northrop N-1 Flying Wing. Grumman Widgeon Amphibian
  5. I had read about helicopters when I was a kid and learning to fly fixed wing. I "knew" what all the controls did, and was pretty sure because of that I would be able to somehow fly reasonably well. So...there we are, careening and fish-tailing through the sky, barely under control, and I'm thinking: "Huh, maybe this IS as hard as they say it is." One thing that I remember helping a lot was the Instructor telling me to look at the arc of the blades rotating and put that slightly above the horizon. That seemed to work. Someday when I've cash to burn. [ 29. January 2006, 01:23: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]
  6. TH-55 The only helicopter I've ever flown. (I never took a second dual hop, because I knew if I did, I'd mortgage the house and rob a bank to pay for lessons.) FUN stuff...
  7. I was afraid of that when I typed it. Took a chance and played the odds, sorry about that. I took the liberty of editing the previous post to reflect physiological reality. I hope your Dad enjoys the pics. [ 29. January 2006, 00:41: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]

  9. Wow! pretty good. "Pete "Dead Meat" Murdoch.......is dead."
  10. Correct on the Lear, but the next one is a production Fighter/Trainer.
  11. The USAF flew them for years as VC-140's, mostly out of the 89th, then in the eighties used them for flightcheck ops in europe. You'll still occasionally see a re-engined Jetstar like the one in the photo, you pretty much have to go to Mexico to see any of the GE Turbojet-powered airframes still flying these days.
  12. Here's a civilian cockpit. (My apologies)Non-standard avionics with an unsual picture angle. If you were a lineboy at some point in your career, you'll probably know this one.
  13. Here's another: [ 28. January 2006, 20:49: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]
  14. O.K, I was going to guess FA-18, but no tailhook handle, so with the older analogs, I'm guessing YF-17?
  15. No, it's got condition levers, which make it a turboprop, and the front canopy shape is pretty unmistakable. The ADI/HSI combination are early sixties, which dated it correctly too. My guess is the electronics equipment had something to do with that Ho Chi Minh trail recon thing the Army got tasked with early in Vietnam. I can't remember the name.
  16. OV-1? [ 28. January 2006, 19:16: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]
