  1. 10% truth? I was flying at aviano that week. I remember the event (last name spelled wrong on the lineup card and he had the #2 locker) but don't recall canceling the first go. I believe he went to the ops desk and said he was not in the mood to fly and jumped on the c-21. Later, he called the WG/CC to complain about the way the 555th did business. From then on he unfortunately flew exclusively with the 510th.

Sounds like he made a good decision. Buzzards RULE!

  2. I guess I'm a bit lost....what's the big deal about wearing a bag on the civilian flight home? If you have time to change, do it. If its the difference between you making the flight or not, and they force you to be in uniform on the rotator, you can bet I'd be on that flight home in my bag 10 out of 10 times.

  3. Here's a new one....to me at least. Wanted to see if any of you all had heard this, or experienced it. I'm currently 8.69 months into a 365. I volunteered for it as a result of getting the "you're getting a 365 next week" warning e-mail (my CC did some checking into it; it was valid and I was going to get a different one). Prior to all of this, I was assigned to the X4 band (1 Apr - 30 Sep 14) at an AETC base. Early last week, I started getting e-mails (to my home station e-mail) that I needed to complete my required X4 band CBTs. Then, yesterday, I received an e-mail from my CC that he was PCAing me to a different squadron so that I wouldn't get tagged for a 179 as my name is apparently being thrown around for it. Good for me that he's willing to help me avoid this, but really....WTF? Apparently, he was told that I could still be deployed (from my deployed location) or deployed again as soon as I get home in May. AFI 36-2110 clearly states:

5.6. Post Deployment Deferment Period. Airmen are exempt from extended deployment selection for 6 months following return from an AEF deployment or an Extended Deployment. Eligibility is calculated from return date to the date of first training or RDD (at time of selection), whichever is earlier. Approval authority to deploy Airmen before their deferment period expires will be for valid mission reasons only and will be approved by AFPC, Director of Assignments.

So, have any of you seen or heard this? I know the AF can do whatever they want (and the porch just broke a different promise to me 3 weeks ago, so my skepticism is at an all-time high), but has anyone else ever seen this?

  4. I wonder if you'd be better off if you were able to take the DU off before ejecting, of course you'd be missing the visor (which would be no different than flying sans visor with NVGs at night)... I'd be curious to see the stats on how many successful / unsuccessful ejections there have been with the JHMCS.

Is it the weight of the DU that does the damage? I guess I assumed it was the cable attached to the UHVI.

  5. I are not computer smart, so I thought I'd see if anyone else is having the same issue.

Currently deployed to a sandy location, so I'm a frequent user of VPN to gain access to Netflix, Pandora, and other blocked websites. About a week ago, Pandora stopped working, giving me the restricted/"no worky in your country" memo. Netflix still works fine (doesn't when I turn the VPN off) and so do the other webpages, so the issue doesn't seem to be the VPN (I use hotspot shield). Anyone else having problems Pandora (or not having problems with Pandora), or did Pandora start blocking known VPN IP addresses?

  6. Its my guess that he was quibbiling; trying to save face. :bash:

Asaiana just released the names of the pilots of 214: Captain Sum Ting Wong; Line Check Airman Wi To Lo; FO: Ho Lee Fuk; FO: Bang Ding Ow

    Spur

Where did you find this off of the NTSB's page or press release? Either way...well done!
