MountainHerc are you sure about those timelines? I remember the wording being terribly confusing for PC but I thought the directions were set a separation date for a minimum of 8 weeks out up to 180 days.

The new PSD Separations guide says no less than 180 days. If anyone wants it, it really helps clear up the PC process just PM me. I tried to press to test the sub 180 and had AFPC kick it back with a RFI for a new separation date. It delayed my PC process by about two weeks.

  2. Your requested date of separation must be no sooner than 6 months from the date you enter it into CMS. That date is the day you actually click the apply button. I would back it off another month to get all your paperwork in order and give yourself some slop for folks to sign stuff. I would say 7 months from when you start the Paperwork till your Req DOS is a pretty standard timeline.

  3. My info may be out of date, but wouldn't that be an all guard crew?

And I can't pass on this opportunity to say ballnut on the interwebs

They fly mixed ANG/AD crews from both the 187/30AS. There are mostly guard folks, with a few AD thrown in.

  4. Just to clarify MountainHerc, is that sandals in the DFAC w/ straps or is that standard Ocean Pacific flip flops. Back in the day, this was an issue. Thanks

You can get away with any version of flip flops in the chow hall, including the $0.99 bx shower shoes. Beats by Dre are also strongly encouraged.

    What Fatty_Driver said.

  5. You can wear sandals at the DFAC as long as its not your shower shoes (how they would know, not a clue). They dont want you to wear sweaty PT stuff to the chow hall. I've seen a couple guys get shwacked for having their flight suit sleeves rolled in the Fox bar. Problem there is you dont know if its an E-2 or O-6 thats talking to you because everyone is in their civi's. If you go off base you can wear shorts and Tshirts. They have relaxed that policy (used to be khaki's and polo shirt).

Thats basically it from what I've seen.

  6. So odd considering how much emphasis has been placed on palace chase by the current FM debacle. I guess those trying to come in of the street are at the far end I the budget/manning whip.

Yeah. The budget cuts are also slashing the number of aircraft units have, and which units are going to be TFI's vs stay total guard. Units like the Idaho unit MIGHT be losing their Aircraft and going to a TFI. Typically that means same amount of A/C and twice as many pilots. Then look at units like the ORANG that might be losing up to 15 planes. Thats a huge hit to the pilot manning requirements. Yes, there are a lot of guys that are being forced out of AD, but that also might mean more qualified guys are going to be looking for jobs. It will be interesting to see where the off the street guys will sit in a few months when the dust settles.

  7. I'm not a personnelist, but from a friend of mine: there is a services "agency" underneath the AFPC umbrella that dictates what is served in AF chow halls.

I still dont see how this supersedes the AFCENT authority for decisions on services. I know the base commander can make decisions based on the health of his folks, ie, the great BAF debacle of 2011 (PT Tests upon boots on ground and no fast food), but AFPC making decisions for AFCENT? Seems like they are stepping on toes.

  8. Who doesn't love the Green Bean MOAC, 2 Rip It's and some DFAC coffee challenge? Making Tac airlift more exciting for everyone involved.

And is anyone really surprised that this is AFPC's focus at this point? After all, this decision was probably made while relaxing in the Burger King and after pushing into effect the "strategic delay" of the FM programs and was loosely based on what they heard from one of their friends who deployed once back a few years ago.
