10 U.S. Code § 616: The number of below-zone promotions cannot exceed 10 percent of the number of officers authorized for promotion by a statutory board selecting officers on the ADL. However, the SECDEF is allowed to authorize up to 15 percent.
Ol’ Fingers should probably get on it.... “Promote to Retain”

Honest question, did you retire or separate prior to 20?

I did the job as a non-vol 2012-2013. I’m not going to defend it.
My point is that the threat of a 365 right now is way overblown by fear mongers here.
Ah yes, the syndrome of “I had to so you should/don’t care if you have to”
Lines again blurred between this thread and “What’s wrong with the AF”

So is the desire to not do 179s? Or 365s? I'm confused.
What do you want? To never deploy again?
How about not deploying to be a PowerPoint/Excel secretary for a self serving “bonus taker” O-6+

Yup, guilty as charged. Prior Enlisted also so it makes sense for my family. Once i signed a 10 year commitment for UPT i was in it for 20. I totally agree that the current bonus doesn’t move the needle on people’s decision. I’ve been fortunate to have great commanders, worked hard, and also had a degree of luck. Also i don’t understand why people say it’s not about the money. The correct statement is: it’s not only about the money. I love serving but your second commitment economics do play a part. Anyone who says different is lying to themselves.
Perfect example why the bonus doesn’t work.....
Dudes that are staying in anyway boosting the take rate for the managers to hang their hat on.
Should move this to “What’s Wrong” thread.

Young guys take note. Set yourself up early to be financially independent of the military retirement. Read up on investing during deployments, spend/save/invest your money wisely, and make yourself marketable to the outside world. You will have much less stress when the time comes to decide to stay or punch from the AF.
Exactly. ACSC in correspondence won’t be going on my airline apps, but that bullsh1t masters I “had to get” to make major will.... choose wisely.

Either I get promoted, or I get continued... And with the bonus, I'll be paid like an O-5 even if I get passed over.
Buwahahha! You really think the bean counters haven’t figured this out?!
What would it cost to pay you as a Lt Col in retirement vs Major for the rest of your life?

You know it. Just let me take out my retainer first.
And put a little extra tape on your glasses.

Report is out. Way better than I expected. 1% better take rate than last year. 11F went up to 44% and 11M down to 38%. Messaging up front is rather doom and gloom with the overall pilot inventory decreasing over the next five years.
I may be too skeptical, but I’d truly like to see the data used to green up the spreadsheet with these “results”

Valid point. Minimal. But even in a relatively small sample size such as a single squadron, it is still better than nothing.Far more impact when the top of the heap in the squadron gets passed over for useless dogsh1t.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but you aren’t changing much of anything if you don’t get promoted. What would he be able to change if he was?

Whatever. I did what I needed to do in my time to play by the advertised rules for promotion. Don’t like it? Don’t do it. But don’t cry when you get passed over.
No crying here... Even getting promoted is not enough to stay a single day past a UPT commitment.
The “leaders” that self identified by clicking a mouse(on or off duty) to “do what’s needed” in order to make rank is one more reason pilots are out ASAP.

Homestar.... your level of blue koolaid consumption is commendable.
Your comments make it sound like “since I had to, YOU have to”

I’ll be willing to bet that no IDE by any method will lead to being passed over. You just showed up at your new unit and the accounting is with the new CC? Good luck. Or are you Duck and hoping to get passed over?
Passing guys over with great strats/record for not doing an online ballwash is just one more reason the spiral downward continues to tighten.
This is a a complete press to test for me...CSAF claims correspondence courses should no longer be a discriminator? Prove it.
I honestly hope this shows a trend in the right direction for the AF. (But I have no faith)

In a previous post I believe you mentioned not having done IDE in correspondence. If this is the case, you’re not going to get promoted, so who gives a fvck who writes your PRF?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI hope he gets promoted. ACSC in correspondence is USELESS.

If anyone thinks the AF will stand up flying clubs, you’re in a dream world...just reference how long it takes to complete a fvxking PFT.... How many videos do I have to watch? Two separate documents to fill out? I can only imagine the stupid lawyered up BS that would have to be “accomplished” prior to even opening the door of an AF owned C-172

I don't think AMC realizes that getting rid of 12Ms will eventually result in a massive shortage of rated dudes on staff. There are a lot of 12Ms working staff, AMLO, CRG, etc right now. But they can't stay in those jobs forever.
What percentage of nav’s took the bonus? Oh yeah....
Maybe not FOREVER but have fun sitting sideways pushing paper to 22 YOS.

Does the AF publish the numbers of pilots turning down continuation?
If you decline continuation, are you still eligible for guard/reserve?
Anyone get offered 24 and negotiate to only 20?
