  1. I'm in the process of talking with the ALO folks. Thank you though!
  2. Hey all - I've been on hold with the total force call center for 45 minutes now, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to reach out to you fine folks and see if someone here has the answer I need. I understand that if I were to transfer my benefits today, I would have to commit to another 4 years of service. I am eligible to retire in January 2021, and I was wondering if they'd make me extend my service beyond that date?
  3. I would definitely consider it, but I would prefer no more deployments.
  4. Also, I’ve looked into various IMA gigs, but most (if not all) positions require long(ish) tours, that would require me taking mil leave from my civilian employer. That is definitely not what I am after.
  5. Forgive my ignorance, but I don’t know what a DSG position is.
  6. Hey guys, I’m a reservist pilot with a full time civilian job. I am finding it harder and harder to keep up with my currencies in the jet. Not to mention regular deployments and constant pay headaches. My heart is simply not into my job as a pilot anymore. I am nearing the point of dread every time I have to make the drive to the base. I have 2 years 5 months until retirement. I am looking for a seriously part time gig and even willing to go the points, no pay route if it means I can log points towards retirement, and not miss out on my civilian job and family events anymore. Does anyone have any good ideas on where to start? I have looked into the admissions liaison officer route, but that’s a tougher nut to crack than I thought. I apologize for the sob story, but I’m looking for some real advice. thanks
  7. Thanks for the replies! So is this 10 year commitment a FLYING commitment, or just a SERVICE commitment?
  8. Hey folks, I'm currently a tanker guy in the reserves, but I was considering an IMA job closer to my house. (My commute is killing me) I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a flying commitment for the USAFR? I have been flying since Oct 2010. I know of the ADSC, but does anything like that apply to the reserves? Does anyone have an AFI reference that I could look up? Thanks for the input. EDIT: I did find the AFRCI 36-2102 that addresses the issue. It does seem that even reservists incur a 10 year flying commitment after they get their wings. My new question is this: can I still look for an IMA job and still inter-fly with my current squadron?
  9. Lol I'm glad I could provide some entertainment. I have ties to Ft. Collins, but I am not limiting myself to only living there. I grew up in Colorado, so I'll be happy to live anywhere close to the foothills.
  10. Yeah, I know all about the 187th. I even know a former wing commander. I would love to move back to Fort Collins (Thus the avatar). I'm just not crazy about the Herc. Let me ask another question then. How hard is it to live in a different state than your tanker squadron and commute to keep currencies?
  11. Hey all, I'm wondering if there is any info on the 200th Airlift Squadron? I'm currently a tanker pilot out east, but I am interested in moving to Colorado with my family to settle down. I was a maintenance guy with the 140th Maintenance Squadron for 8 years, but left to pursue an aviation career. I have done a bit of reasearch on the internet machine, but can only find fact sheet type stuff on the 200th AS. If there is anyone who is a member of the 200th that could shed some light on hiring/lifestyle/ops tempo etc I would be very grateful! Cheers, Velo
