Cost of owning a plane
Rule of thumb I've heard from lots of GA folks is...if you don't put at least 100 hours on it every year your better off renting

Wow...Epic SR-71 story.
Brian Shul is the guest speaker at a CABAA event at the Rockford Airport (Near Chicago)on July 16th. Any of you in the northern Il area looking for a copy of the book (or hearing him speak), he will be signing them, I think, they are going for around $200. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can try and get more information for you. CABAA

Buff tail question
All aircraft (to my knowledge) have some type of elevator, be it a standard horizontally mounted elevator, an elevon or a ruddervator or whatever else some engineer has come up with. The h-stab is used to trim the aircraft so the pilot has full deflection of the elevator when trim is needed and is usually coupled to the autopilot system. Im sure there are more uses for it and possibly a better explanation, but I think that's the gist of it.

Anyone in Japan seen this stuff?
Heres some info. Sounds to be really hard to get a hold of now. Good luck! I'd like to try some, but I doubt you can get it in the states for less than a small fortune. Spirit Wholesalers Makers Mark Gold

Any Bourbon Drinkers?
I went to the makers mark ambassador weekend recently and had a chance to try the bookers masterpiece at a bourbon bar in Lexington...$35/oz and well worth it. The bartender said IF you can find one, its $200-300 a bottle. Woodford Reserve is also very good.
