  1. This was the case until the TSP modernization act in 2017 which took effect in 2019. Now the fees are higher than they were, such that the fees in my Fidelity holdings are substantially similar. IOW low fees as a reason to hold onto TSP is no longer valid. I’ll move my TSP Roth into my Roth IRA as soon as I separate.

Ooh, I missed this. I’ll have to look into it. Thank you!
  2. It’s a pretty well known fact that sites like Parler and BitChute have become repositories for people and groups that have been kicked off more mainstream social media.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/11/right-wing-social-media-finalizes-its-divorce-reality/617177/

    From the article:
“A different type of influencer, however, was active on Parler: accounts that had been kicked off mainstream social communities because of assorted forms of bad behavior and terms-of-service violations. These included Roger Stone, Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, and leading QAnon acolytes.”

I see that article and pile on:

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2021/01/trump-rioters-wanted-more-violence-worse/617614/

The alternative social media sites are being used to coordinate these activities.

How does one explain the videos of capitol police letting people in to the capitol?

  3. Guardians.  Yep, they went Marvel for the membership name, you know, to go along with the Star Trek emblem.
    Pence names Space Force members
The commander of Space Force better be referred to as Star Lord.  And Groot must be on the patches.  And there better be some sweet tunes playing during any space op.
Edit.  From the article, The Space Force motto is “Sempa Supra,” or “Always Above” and, according to Pence, President Trump is its “founder.”
So, if you are on the moon, are you above Earth, or is Earth above the moon?  Is there an "up" side to the galaxy?  If creatures from two planets are looking up at each other, who's above?  Also, I thought Congress made the Space Force, just like they made the Air Force.
    Out.

  4. I mean shout out to all my 60/70s/80s/90s babies who died from polio...oh wait!
The science seems good here and I can’t wait to take the vaccine and end this long, shitty pandemic. There can always be problems, but the alternative is currently extremely problematic so I vote we go with a very promising solution.

At least this one doesn’t have a live/weakened virus...
  5. Is anyone able to give a KC-10 update?
    1. Ops tempo/schedules
    2. Deployments
    3. Yearly average for hours flown
    4. Manning. Copilot/AC/IP heavy in the community? Typical upgrade times?
    5. KC-46 transition timeline/factors to consider
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Not a lot of trips. Fly a few locals a month.
    2. Expect once a year or less moving forward.
    3. 3-500 including sims.
    4. Co spots are drying up. More AC upgrade spots replacing. AC upgrade 24 months less if you’re good/lucky. IP upgrade another 12 months.
    5. WRI transitions first. 2 ARS shuts down soon. SUU transitions second.

  6. Nope, it should function as written no matter what the leaning of the metropolis. Those are the rules and how our country operates.

The idea of California being at least three states, however, is definitely a good academic exercise because of how different things are in all those areas.

I propose it becomes “Cal” in the north, “Ifor” in the middle, and “Nia” in the south.

  7. How is there always a shortage of tankers at LFE vuls? I swear the -135 patches won’t graduate unless they gnat’s ass the fuel to the pound. Then someone’s TCAS breaks and the whole thing is a wreck.

My best guess is tanker units stopped shopping for things with sequestration...fly shorter sorties closer to home (see either 7BAx2 or 777 only). Then OSTs forgot they’re supposed to be managing training for the wing (forecasting training needs). Now, OSTs and OSOs have lost the corporate knowledge to seek out the training we need and units either get scraps or you see “hookups” begged for on Facebook.

Funny thing is our training requirements haven’t increased...we just forgot how to do what we used to do.
