  1. Copied from www.HRworld.com. "30 Interview questions you cannot ask"

    1. What you can't ask: How far is your commute?
Although hiring employees who live close by may be convenient, you can't choose candidates based on their location. Find out about their availability instead.
What to ask instead: Are you able to start work at 8 a.m.?

    2. What you can't ask: Do you live nearby?
If your candidate lives outside of the city your company is hiring in, it may be necessary to have them move to your area. But again, you can't discriminate based on location. Rather, find out if the applicant is willing to move closer to the office.
What to ask instead: Are you willing to relocate?

If someone is not hired by a unit, they have nothing to lose by suing for discrimination (dick move, however). Units would be wise to avoid sticky legal situations by not making relocation a requirement/condition of employment. Run it by the JAG.

HRWorld.com probably does not apply to a Fighter pilot position that requires a certain alert status (tahts beside the fact that you are signing up for a MILITARY unit, there are tons of civilian rules that are legally discarded when it comes to military job requirements).

I promise you any federal attorney worth his/her salt would be able to argue a Bone fide needs case and win for the guard unit.....

  2. Im applying to pilot slots, mostly fighter units, and all the open ones are in the northern part of the states, and I live in Orlando, FL.

Fighter dudes I'm sure will chime in but I think most fighter squadrons require you to live pretty close to base. All the app packages I saw had a statement in there saying if you were offered a position you were willing to move to within XX (notice that does not have 4 X's) miles of the base.....

  3. For instance, Bank of America is one existing lender that is strict in this area. However, Wells Fargo, Citimortgage, US Bank are all pretty flexible on not requiring an appraisal (sometimes USAA loans are actually serviced by US Bank which does make them eligible for not needing an appraisal).

I just closed a VA streamline refi with BofA last month and they did not require an appraisal.

  4. WTF is up with you lately? :bash:

Tebow ain't doing too bad either!

    drewes_original.jpg

That chick was a rumor from his college days... I have bolded the most important part of that whole article

There have been a number of rumored relationships since Tebow's days on the University of Florida football team, although none of them have ever carried much weight. In 2007, a picture of Tebow with a very buxom brunette, Erin Drewes, surfaced on the Internet. Drewes, who was then a senior at the University of Florida, insisted to Playboy.com that she wasn't Tim's girlfriend—and that they'd never even dated. She did, however, pose for the site with Tebow's football uniform painted on her impressive frame

  5. Is anyone else here wanting to go through the June Board? If so, what are your scores, what sponsors and what base are you looking at? Cargo or Fighters?

I've been sponsored by a unit to go to the June boards...Scores:

    PCSM: 94

AFOQT Pilot: 93 (I can't remember my other scores...I'm already commissioned and its been a long time since I looked at my other scores)

Undergrad GPA: 3.3 (I might be off +/- .1.I would need to pull up my resume)

    MBA GPA: 3.7

Prior Service Crew Chief on 141s & C5s

Not sure what other scores I could post without going into OPRs, etc

I am about to post a sticky but check out :

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/AFRC-Undergraduate-Flying-Training/239245746115580

Its a direct link to the people who run the AFRC board and they want people to ask questions. That way, you are getting the most up-to-date info

  6. ...but we all know they'll buy a less capable POS from the lowest bidder owned by a minority chick.

Hate to admit it but your probably right...it will be hard for the program office to justify a brand name purchase (iPad) when you have so much competition out there.....unless the correct software is only available to certain devices, or the justification could be written that only brand X tablet processes fast enough to respond within a certain limit during EP's, etc... that might be a saving grace....

Then you could buy iPads from the POS minority chick owned small business

    Edit:

My buddy(C-21 pilot) just sent me this:

  7. It won't go down. I just checked my LES and I am still getting the rate for 2010 ($1380), but the 2011 rate is $1320. 2012 rate is $1332, so I'm assuming I'll keep my 2010 rate another year.

I believe the only time it will reduce on your LES is

    a. You PCS

    b. You promote (when you promote is still goes "up" to reflect your new rank however you get whatever the current CY BAH rate is)

If your still at the same base with the same rank during a drop in BAH I don't believe it drops until either a/b above happens.....

  8. yea I got alternate again..... just wish I knew the reason. This is just getting stupid.

How were your numbers vs the averages posted? I am heading to the June board and the only number I am a bit worried about is my flight time.....

Also, for the dudes who were selected, do they just tell you where your going for UPT or can you request a base (dream sheet type thing)?

  9. That's alot better than the last board I heard there were like 15 more applicants last board.

Swore in yesterday as an E-5 anyone else sworn in yet or had and info on dates?

I think last June was an anomaly stemming from the Sept/Nov 2010 board mess up PLUS all the medical stuff moving to WP. Hopefully the boards from here on out will be like this past Novembers.....

  10. I am also curious as to what current guard/reserve guys do (who don't fly for airlines). I am looking at maybe being a GS civilian. Anybody work for the government during the week and fly? I'm a business major (currently contracting officer in the AF) and I've been sponsored by a unit. Just curious what types of jobs and/or companies dudes have had a good experience with supporting their flying duties.

  11. So for you guys meeting the Nov board (or any upcoming board), is it a requirement to have both your MFS and FC1 or just your FC1 to meet the board? Reason I ask is because I am sitting on a FC1 that I had done at Hill AFB (w/ AETC stamped approved waiver for PRK) but I have not done the MFS at Wright-Patt. Any body have a link or something to the official guidance on what is required to meet the board (medically speaking) now?

  12. So for you guys meeting this board, was it a requirement to have both your MFS and FC1 or just your FC1 to meet the board? 13. If people use that reasoning, then we shouldn't be able to give checkrides within our own squadrons because the O-3 SEFe might feel pressured by an O-4 ADO. We should have to have another squadron SEFE give checkrides for our squadron. But then, they're in the same wing, so maybe another wing should do it. But they might be in the same numbered AF and feel pressured because of that. Maybe we should just have only SEFEs from another service give the AF checkrides, that'd fix any ability to cheat.

Or we could trust our people to have integrity and squash those caught cheating.

I got it..we should set up a testing cell comprised of civilians, that way, when the checkrides are accomplished, the unquestionable ethics of Bob the blob will put his stamp of approval on the checkride...we can call it Flying Assessment Cells......it will be legandary....

  14. Air Force Entertainment is currently accepting applications for the 2012 Worldwide Talent Search which will be held at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland AFB TX from 9-16 Jan 2012. Interested applicants should go to the Tops In Blue website for guidelines and the application. The competition is opened to Active duty, Reserve and Guard Air Force members. They are looking for Vocalist, Instrumentalist, Dancers, Comedians, Magicians, Dramatists, Audio, Lighting and Staging Technicians as well as Bus and Truck drivers.

Additionally, a talent consultant from Tops In Blue will be available between 1400-1600 hrs at each venue on the day of a show to speak with interested applicants and assist with their videotaping. A schedule of upcoming performances is located on the Tops In Blue website. The deadline for all applications and video auditions is 15 Nov 2011.

Gentlemen, get your apps in...personally I plan on going for one of the two bolded above...especially if they let me wear a trucker hat or have hot bishes as my magical assistants...

Seriously fist me, they HIRE a "talent" consultant for these things.....w.t.f. :vomit:

  15. Revival.

I have heard rumors about Wright Patt looking for Active Duty IP's to help with the transition from the C-5. Anyone from the 89th AS on here that might be able to shed some light?

This is a little late and they just recently had a change of command but when I sat down with the previous 89th commander in December 2010 he said they were trying hard to get guys off AD.....he said they were in hiring mode because their UMD went from 50 to 75 pilots and alot of their dudes were getting ready to retire....they were hiring for the UPT studs and mid-level (IPs, ACs) to backfill the guys retiring........

  16. So quasi-off topic but I had nightmares over this last night.....I was in the clinic for some shots yesterday, I look up and what do my eyes see, some SSgt walking down the hall with a reflective belt in. his. blues....please tell me this is not becoming a trend across the AF?!

  17. So any news on getting rid of the FACs or are those just rumors?

They are officially getting cut at Hill AFB and when I asked "Since Hill AFB is cutting them, that should mean the rest of the AF is cutting them" I was told that was an accurate statement....

  18. We have a winner. A quick skim of the material is all you need to pass. Min run the 3 tests and be done with it. Is having to do it in correspondence before you go in residence stupid? Yes. Is it hard work? No.

I was actually thinking of implementing this and then trying the first test...if I fail, no biggie becuase I can retake it without losing anything...

  19. I got bigger laughs from watching a bunch of "athletically challenged" future shoe clerks slip and stumble all over a wet field. 2 minutes in and they're all wheezing like they've got asthma.

Pretty sure there are fatty's on both sides of the fence......actually I distinctly remember a pilot candidate in my flight (but lets face it, EVERYONE at ASBC was a potentical shoe clerk because nobody had gone to UPT yet) who couldn't pass the PT test. They had to have him run it 3 times (this was before the auto-fail that we have now) just to get him to BARELY pass with a 76.....there was another pilot candidate who failed not one, but BOTH of the written tests......how you manage that, one will never know.....both were ring knockers too...

I still stand by my original thoughts on Icarus...lol

ugh....now I need to get back to making my eyes bleed again by choking thru SOS via coorespondence.....

  20. A month and a half of per diem partying every night wasn't too bad (Except as a case of Air Force F,W&A) as a brand new Lt though...

Icarus! Thats what that was...don't get me wrong, I made a ton of money even after drinking a ton at ASBC, plus I golfed 2-3 times a week and hit the driving range every night.....

    "Sir,

Surely you are not deriding the noble sport of ICARUS. You probably hated it because your team made you be a SAM.

    "

I was all three of those awesome positions (what offense/F-15, defense/F-16, and SAM's correct?)

Your still gayer than a fanny pack full of dicks if you were one of those douchnuggets that ran around and acted like you won the super bowl for playing Icarus......although watching "missiles" miss targets and nail the craniums of unsuspecting players made for some good laughs.....
