    Future of E-8 JSTARS?

At one point the Gulfstream was in the running to replace the JSTARS... not sure how that panned out... but that sounds like the best 'forced crossover due to E-8 retirement' ever. Then again, maybe I'm thinking of the G550 replacing a different aircraft.

Anyone know the increments? ‘08 is 190 a month, assume is has to go up a bit...

    What's your favorite mission?

Being the first US military aircraft to ever land at a certain uncontrolled airfield in Afghanistan, bringing in medical supplies and personnel after a natural disaster... while an AC-130 was overhead ready to take down anyone that flinched.

    Rushing Units

Do us herk dudes a favor and stay elsewhere. You’re a herk guy or you’re not... ...and you’re not.

    Promotion and PRF Information

Fake news? Or did this just drop? Earlier today MyPers showed AFPC release as blank still, but other board releases were confirmed early June

    ENJJPT or UPT for AFSOC?

Go ENJJPT. I know three slick 130J pilots, four U-28 pilots, 1 AC-130 pilot... all within three classes of mine (and that’s just what I remember). Most wanted them, some didn’t, either way... the guys that wanted heavies/AFSOC... generally got what they wanted. Granted this was almost a decade ago... damn I’m getting old.

    Tanker to Fighter

I know a herk dude in vipers. If a prop guy can do it, anyone can!

    Columbus T-38 down

Maybe I’m not a purist... but i thought the C model trained just fine. Unsure why a trainer needs the aforementioned, its not exactly going to combat. If PMP/C-model increased safety and reliability, worth it... because that’s all that matters for initial training.
  9. That died in 2014-ish.. when certain deputy and group commanders left. Then there was a period of ‘trust’... then I left. Apparently bliss didn’t last too long.

    Pilot Math

I like the technique of telling the controller what crosswind I need to takeoff/land..the gusts usually take care of themselves. Plus most regs are ‘demonstrated’ crosswind limits...

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.

Jealous... I find zero job satisfaction on my third exec gig; nor do I wake up excited to go to work. I love the chances (which are minimal) when I get to fly, and I signed up for the QoL, as did my wife. But you’d be hard pressed to convince me that 12 hour workdays editing endless awards is “serving my country.” Pretty sure my wife would understand my absence better if my long days had a direct impact on national security. To each their own I suppose.

I think it’s a superb idea. The warrants can fly so us officers can focus on TMT approving MICT, flying is getting in the way.
  13. From what I understand, yes. Consolidated contract maintenance for the Gulfstreams and 737s is a big money-saver. Not sure what the C-21s use..
  14. OSA consolidation is in the NDAA FY19, once it’s signed by the President, the pieces will move fast. Expecting the signature sometime this fall, with consolidation in the Spring-ish timeframe (if Congress keeps it in the NDAA).
