  1. Briere's first goal against the Pens last night was BS. He was offsides by a long shot. Still - doesn't excuse sitting back for 2 periods and blowing a 3 goal lead. Inexcusable.
  2. Any update on this 3 week online Beta program? Sucks more/less, any word on making it official, etc? My number is soon going to be up for SOS and I'm curious which program I'll ultimately have to suffer through.
  3. Hmmm... You could be right, since I never actually saw the kid. Maybe he hadn't hit the flightline yet. But it's a legit bio from the base. Trust but verify. EDIT - If he flies well and isn't a goober, no one will care what this piece of paper says. On the other hand, if the dude has a bad attitude, just like anyone else, I'm sure that the IPs will squash him. Sarcasm and ridicule required - Ill will, not so much.
  4. This is one of those times that you couldn't make it up... this is what the dude's bio actually said. I know, because I saw it about 2 months ago when this guy first hit the T-6 flightline. Whether or not he was joking, I couldn't tell you... wasn't my flight he went to. But I can tell you that he DID submit this as his official autobio in his first week of UPT at DLF! You'd be surprised at the stupid things people say in these little blurbs, especially considering they are included in CR packages if a dude washes out. Most of the time it gets chalked up to naivete. But every once in a while, there's a real winner who IDENTs early. Definitely one of those dudes... I'm surprised it took this long to be leaked.
  5. Has anyone here ever purchased a jacket straight-up from Pops? I was thinking about snagging one from there since mine is currently shedding its plastic "shell" faster than Penn State could sh*t-can Joe Pa. Too soon?
  6. Found it originally on Fox..Thanks for making us proud, douche. When Haley Sides moved to Seattle after four years in the Air Force, she chose to settle in Wallingford so her 6-year-old daughter could attend John Stanford International School... "It pains me to think that at a school that emphasizes thinking globally we would institute something that makes our children think that this country alone is where their allegiance lies," said Sides. 7. "2" on what Fury said, but at the same rate (rant on), when is enough going to be enough? I'm personally sick of being told on an ALMOST DAILY basis by commanders, MEO etc. that the Air Force operates in a "color/sex/ethnicity" blind environment. As far as I can tell, it is openly favoring some if its personnel based SOLELY upon their color, religion or gender. How much more divisive can we possibly get?? At this pace, the next big PA article might as well be on a tanker crew consisting entirely of dudes who have dogs. "RARE BREED - MUST LOVE DOGS!" The inanity of this type of "reporting" is unacceptable. Fine. You're a woman who flies/flies in a fighter. You're obviously better than me and the rest of the dudes out there because we have balls. I forgot that's considered a handicap now. You know what - if it's so important that the Air Force and the public see women performing all these jobs, then maybe we ought to let them. Go for it. 80% of the Air Force can just pack up and seek other employment - cuz you know what? The DUDETTES have this handled! THANK GOD! (Rant off)
  8. As far as I know, IFF is still operating at Randolph, Laughlin, Columbus and Sheppard. Word on the street is that Laughlin's is on the verge of shutting down. I don't know all the specifics, but there are 2 blocks of BFM - OB and DB, about 4 rides each. Then, airframe dependent, there are some ACM rides thrown into the mix. The program is supposed to last six weeks. Again, those with better or recent knowledge please chime in.
  9. Don't be so sure they don't have the capabilities or motivation for that matter. http://www.tamus.edu/systemwide/05/09/research/china.html "Governments have also used extra males in the development of unexplored territories and encouraged them to migrate to other countries. To more extreme ends, some governments facing similar dilemmas have ignored in-group violence and even encouraged divisions among excess males, leading to increased violence and self-destruction, he explains. Even more disturbing, China might be tempted to send its excess manpower to invade another country, possibly Taiwan, Poston says, noting that Portugal sent its extra males off to wars in North Africa. China, he says, is already co-opting young and poor unmarried males into the People's Liberation Army and into the paramilitary People's Armed Police. In the next few decades there will be many millions more such males available for these kinds of activities, he adds." The Chinese don't need that carrier they are building, or all those J-10s. They'll be able to build a bridge of people to Taiwan. Overpopulation could be impetus enough for China to become quite the conflagration - throw in the global economic collapse (which, mind you is reported as being even worse overseas than it has been here) and you have a region ripe for war of one kind of another. Before WWII started, millions of people across the globe thought that worldwide conflict would be impossible - we were too closely tied economically and weapons of war had become far too powerful to actually use. Ironically, this was the same attitude that permeated societies before WWI, the Russo-Japanese war, the Austria-Prussian War of the 1870s and even our own Revolution. I am not saying that battle with China or any struggling nation is inevitable, but given the challenges that our and other nations face, and the naturally emotional and irrational behavior of large groups of troubled people, it is certainly overwhelmingly arrogant of us to dismiss the idea as preposterous. Now more than ever, we should be extremely wary of our ability to defend ourselves and our assets. Remember, that no matter how "interdependent" the talking craniums on TV say the global community is, when push comes to shove, the big dog has to eat. In time, the only question may be, who is the biggest dog on the block? And I sure as hell hope he's on my side.
  10. The stud pilot was a buddy of mine from college. He was a dedicated husband and officer, and all around good dude. He'll be missed by all. Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers. Guys like these represent the best we can offer our country. Godspeed.
  11. Just a curiosity item - I know it's been discussed before, but we were told a few weeks ago that the CAF has basically had its fighter pipeline shutdown. Story is that the 16 schoolhouse has a minimum 12-13 month wait for the forseeable future. Does anyone else have the latest word on A-10s, 15Cs, etc? I know a few 10s dropped across the bases last time around and I've been told that there are about 30 dudes chilling at Tyndall as we speak still waiting to start Eagle RTU. A few of us were just wondering if we should just expect more of the same out of 38s in the next few months as we've been seeing.
