Yes but they never would... and thats the issue here, people are being allowed to use their uniform to officially promote gay pride, but not other things... this should be all or nothing.

it's WTF because normally, we are not allowed to wear our uniforms to any kind of political event or any event where you are making a statement like that. I couldn't wear my uniform to do something that represents my church in some kind of rally, or to participate in some kind of other pride parade (be it religious, ethnic, etc) so why can homosexuals wear theirs to a gay pride parade? It is giving them special treatment and allowing them privileges that the rest of the service is denied.

What I have heard second hand, is that the HC-J has not started deploying or anything yet, and that there is only 1 at DM currently, and 2 at Kirtland... Can't comment much on the other issues as I haven't heard much about them. THere is a good comment about mission and deployment cycle for the legacy version in the CSO forum.

Maybe, except these stats have been pretty damn consistent for decades, long before cell phones and such, were popular. Plus other tests have shown that the male and female minds function differently and tend to be better at different things. Male brains tend to be better at spacial relations, which improves the chances of parking without incident. Not that it is impossible for women to be good at spacial relations (heck id put a good female fighter pilot or race car driver up against any average guy any day) but we are talking averages here, random sampling of each gender, the average score on spatial relations will be higher in the male sample than female sample. when i was in the fire department and EMS squad, we saw this regularly, when we would train people to drive the ambulances and fire trucks, on average, the guys learned how to handle the vehicles in tight places (STS) significantly quicker than the women did. There were exceptions, I remember one woman in the EMS squad who could drive circles around most of the guys (including me). Yet we didn't see this same disparity on open roads, or with other tasks all together (i.e. firefighting or medical training).

THat source, although citing others is a biased source, although it did prompt me to look into the issue further. The American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) says that there is evidence to support the health benefits but that it is small and not completely proven. THis caused them to drop it from "Routine" to "elective" citing that there may be benefits but the evidence is not strong enough to make it a routine procedure. Basically they say from a medical stand point it may be beneficial but there is not enough risk in not doing it to require a medical reason to not do it, and that it should be up to the parents, and if done, the earlier the better. But in the end, the most important issue is religious freedom. There is no evidence of long term harm from properly conducted circumcisions, no evidence that it reduces quality of life at all, nor that it reduces sexual pleasure... therefore there is no credible reason as far as I see, to stomp on a religious freedom. Female circumcision (brought up by someone else) does cause quality of life/sexual pleasure issues, and is not mandated by any religion as far as I know. Thus should be banned.

Seriously, so reduced risk of: urinary tract infections, certain STD's, and Penile Cancer are purely religious reasons? Not to mention the fact that doctors say that if it is going to be done, the earlier the better. Plus roughly 2/3 of american males are circumcised and yet the there is no evidence of it causing any problems (emotional or physical) except when done improperly (which is medical malpractice more than anything). Are you going to tell me that you think that 2/3 of american males are either Jewish or Muslim? Because saying this is purely a religious practice implies exactly that! Add to this, the fact that it is an important religious ceremony in some major religions that causes no harm and some medical benefits. I have to side with the Jews and Muslims on this one, not to mention multiple christian groups in the area who are against this ruling and the christians don't even believe it to be a religious necessity. this is a blatant stomp on religious freedom.

I've got a few friends from Nav school that are in that unit... This is really sad, hits me twice as a 130 nav and former firefighter.

The unit at McConnell still has them. They use Nav's for SOAR.

predominately looking for more current info than what is in the old threads. Stuff like deployment cycles, info about the Moody area, stuff of that nature. Most of that kind of info I find seems a bit dated. It's mostly out of curiosity. I also already have some good info on the pipeline from an instructor here at NPA, but he has been away from the CSAR community for a few years and has said that a lot of what he has told me regarding the assignment may be out of date.

I am a recent CSO grad and am starting the pipeline for the HC-130, I am going to the 71st Rescue Squadron at Moody. I have read through all the HC/MC threads I can find but would like to get more current info, plus any 71RQS specific info I can. Any helpful advice, info on what current deployments/deployment schedule is like, info about what type of stuff HC's are currently doing when deployed would be great! My RNLT Date is 28 Jun 2013 for moody, I start Little Rock next month, and do not yet have dates for SERE and Kirtland. so any tips for the pipeline would also be appreciated. current Moody info would also be appreciated. I know the flying crew chief who died's sister (she's one of my wife's best friends since High School). From everything I heard, he was a good guy and the pride of his family.

I doubt those numbers are accurate... I think those numbers reflected how many of each plane in the AD inventory as opposed to drops. Since I recently found out we have 22 HC-130's in the active inventory, plus looking at drop numbers so far, it seems to make sense.

'Merica (aka class 12-07) drop: B-1 F-15 X3 JSTARS C-130 (Res) RC-135 B-52 X4 U-28 X3 AC-130 x2 (one nav, one ewo, both Cannon) MC-130J (Cannon) C-130 x2(Guard) C-130 x5 (including one to Elmo and one to Yakota) AWACS LC-130 (Guard) HC-130 (Me, Moody) Many people got their top choices or close to it. To my knowledge only the JSTARS guy was disappointed.

Some of my Classmates have families and live on base. They say its not bad, but I have yet to meet a unmarried CSO stud who is on base and doesn't wish they were off base. Out the back gate there are plenty of nice neighborhoods as it has been said. Inexpensive there are a few nice apartment complexes right out the back gate. Out on perdido is a little pricey but is probably the nicest place in the area. Also going out the back gate to dog track road there are a bunch of nice subdivisions where you can rent a house cheaper than perdido but is still nice, clean and safe. Same goes for the places of 98 that are west of blue angel. If you want to be closer to the bars, there is a nice neighborhood just north of downtown that a few of my classmates live at. It's a little bit of a hike for the 0430 show times during some of training, but they like it out there.

Another thing to consider, Navy/USMC has a higher percentage of fighter aircraft compared to non-fighter types, so if you are looking for fighters, your odds are a little better with the navy. The Air Force has more variety though, Bombers, recce, transport, CSAR, Spec Ops etc... I'm about 3/4 through USAF CSO school.

For clarification, if the Guard unit is the Peoria unit, then I have someone from there in my class and they have Slicks so just 6 monthis at Little Rock... but if you happen to be in an actual HC-130 unit, then the time at Kirtland would be in addition... (source a few HC-130 guys who are now instructors... it is my 1st choice airframe)
