I was already selected by a reserve unit at their UPT board, but now they are turning to the option of sending me unsponsored to get the process moving quicker. I'm not sure how that all works. Looking through the AFRC articles about applying unsponsored, but not seeing too much other than the fact it exists and what it's for. Any insight?

What exactly are you asking?

If a reserve unit already selected you, all they need to do is have their wing CC (NAF CC is you need waivers) to sign the AF215 and send your package to the AFRC HQ board. The only difference with going unsponsored is that you do not have that signature. So, I am not sure how that would push you thru quicker.

I have no prior military service and I am trying to get a sponsorship because I got a 81 on my AFOQT and I needed a 90 according to my reserve recruiter. How would I go about doing this? I live in FL

Sponsored means you are hired by a unit prior to going to UPT. You have to apply to UPT boards, get interviewed, and get hired.
