Apparently AA allows military into any of their Admiral's Clubs for free as long as you are traveling same day on AA and have orders.  What kind of orders are they looking for?  I'm not sure.  But if you are active you are always on orders, AF 988 leave orders are just that, orders.

I'm going to try this on Friday afternoon at PHL and will report back.

Good on them... i knew there was a reason I had an app in their system. :)

Confirmed. Posting from Admirals club in A-west PHL. Presented boarding pass and ID and was welcomed graciously into the club.

Thanks g-man...checked the rules at their website -- can't believe I never knew about this before:

Military

If you’re on active military duty, you have complimentary access to all Admirals Club lounges when traveling the same day on an American Airlines operated flight.

When you arrive, please present your:

  • Boarding pass for same day travel on an American Airlines operated flight

  • Military ID

  • Working orders

They're not required to let you in if you are only traveling CONUS. There is an exceptions link.
