Does anyone have any experience / advice with AAFES car sales? Additionally do you get the same deal at Al Udeid / Bagram that you'd get at Kadena / Mildenhall (ie. is there an advantage buying it "in the shit?")

Thanks!

From what I remember of Bagram/Kadena the prices where the same but I never purchased so I don't know if there were tax breaks involved...

I looked into buying from AAFES while deployed. You pay way too much for the car. It's better to go through USAA or get a True Car price report and negotiate with a dealer. I ended up custom ordering a Mustang through my local dealer and got it about 4K cheaper than AAFES. The exception is if you want a special edition car like a GT500. Dealers typically charge over MSRP for special edition cars and you have to buy what they have in stock. AAFES sells the special edition cars below MSRP so it is a way better deal.

I haven't used it yet, but the new Auto Circle program from USAA sounds like it could get you some good deals. Auto Circle

Same downrange as at overseas bases. Generally not very good deals on cars/trucks. Great deals on Harley's, but you've got to buy a year-end closeout for the best prices. "2" on the BMW military sales program. Mercedes and Porsche also have excellent military sales programs. Expect a 10-13% discount off MSRP with no sales tax. Beware though, when you get back to the states, some states make you pay state tax to register :darkcloud: .
