  2. You can only begin logging time in military aircraft (other than solo time) after you complete UPT, correct?

Why wouldn't you be able to log your UPT time if you're an appropriately rated pilot (FAA)?

EDIT: BTW, I've been using Logbook Pro for years and it rocks!

  3. I start UPT tomorrow and during my medical exam today I scored an H2 in my right ear. AFI 48-123 states that for "trained assets an H-2 profile alone does not require waiver" but I'm not yet trained and it doesn't say anything about people already selected awaiting training. Is this something that will require a waiver and if so, is that something the Flight Surgeons at CAFB can do or will it have to go through Brooks?

That's what I thought too but most of the dudes that sit casual here at CAFB get their TS-SCI prior to class start. I know for a fact that mine is a TS-SCI (DCID 1/4). May be part of the new requirement.

  5. I was also told that now all UPT studs must have a TS-SCI INITIATED prior to CSD. We have had MANY people start Phase I at CAFB without it completed. As a matter of fact, 90% of the Guard/Reserve bums don't have it completed prior to start. Mine was just completed in May which means that it took a little over a year to complete.

I am pretty sure that the only requirement prior to receiving orders is that the SSBI be initiated.

  6. I would also be careful how I handled UPT student time. It's a sticky point. If you are going to count it on your resume as flying time, you better know what is legit and what isn't.
Why wouldn't UPT student time be considered legit? If I have my complex and high-performance endorsements I should be able to log all of the time that I'm flying the T-6. Hell, according to the FAA, I can log all of the time that I am "sole manipulator of the controls" as PIC...even if there is an IP with me. Remember that the FAA has multiple definitions for logging PIC time...sole manipulator as mentioned above and "acting as PIC" which would be the IP on a dual flight. The T-6 doesn't require a type rating, however, the Tweet is a turbojet which would according to the FAA.

At least that is my understanding. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
