  1. I bet it was a B courser. Raptor studs fly Fighting Falcons for 6-9 rides prior to starting Raptor RTU to get used to flying side-stick electric pieces o'shit.

My pure speculation WAG is that it was too high of an aerobrake and drug the stabs. And since it's a Raptor, that probably costs about 50 million.

He's right about this. The average Raptor Stud is at his "Captain's boards" with nothing but training reports when you add that they now do two b-courses.

  2. Guard, prior enlisted

    Interviewed - Jun 2009

    Selected Alternate - Jul 2009

    Primary DQ'd, given slot - Nov 2010

FCI Wright Patt - Apr 2011

    RS Waiver apprv'd - Jun 2011

    AMS - Sep 2011

    SERE - Jan 2012

    IFS - Feb 2012

    Water Survival - Apr 2012

    UPT - May 2012

You're going to need an age waiver when you get to the B-course.

I'm kidding, but anybody reading this thread expect nothing faster than 1 year.

  3. Re-read the Palace Chase reg. If you see the table that shows who is eligible and who is not it says you are not eligible if you already have a separation date, have a school slot and assignment, have PCS'd within 2 years, or are within 2/3ds to 1/2 of ADSC, depending on the ADSC. If you have a separation date, then you Call Palace Front. I do not know if those dates can be slid.

  4. Cap 10 -

the out processing packet I got said I specifically get to keep my ID card (four months ago). It doesn't really matter, because you need to get a NEW card once you join the R/ANG. Apparently they can't reprogram that piece of shit little chip. You also won't get said new card until DEERs, a computer system that can be updated with a mouse click, registers you as attached to your unit.

It's been great for some, one guy had 4 weeks of CT flying and not one email.

I assume when Big Blue discovers all the CBTs we're missing that policy will change.

As for TRICARE, there's TAMP. The readiness person at your new unit will know all about it. It's 180 days of TRS while orders get sorted out. It specifically designed for Palace Chase/Front types. As long as your family is in DEERs, regardless of if you shows AD/ANG/R it can still be processed.

    Hope it helps.

  5. Steve, great stuff. That kind of research is probably why I'm enjoying Red Eagles so much right now.

A few questions (not scoffs) - If the F-15A/B was introduced in 1976, and the E model in design finalized in the mid 80s, where did they get 20 years of data?

I would also add that the loads on the strike are borderline mutually exclusive from that of the C model. That, and in the early 80s the simulation software that could project that kind of fatigue just wasn't that robust.

In any case, good info. But more importantly, glad to hear these guys got out. .

  6. I'm pretty sure the design life was originally 8,000 hrs, but a study was conducted saying "yeah they should be though enough for double that as long as we monitor these things".

In any case, what possible level of engineering could project 16,000 hrs of wear and tear on an airframe with a 90% confidence? Especially while we cut maintenance and back shop.

  7. Your blurry picture of a LGPOS isn't exactly boner-inducing...lead by example.

Lead from the front? is that what our leadership teaches us? (I didn't get a masters but i think all of you should! I didn't do a staff tour but you all need too!)

Honestly though, probably the most valid call out ever done. New image shortly.

I tried 6-9 boob gifs, none worked. Base Ops managers, BRING BACK THE BOOBS! (or tell me how I ######ed this up)

  8. I need to know more about this Raspberry - seriously she is a case study in why, even though her UDM/Safety/Records Management program is top notch, we will not be ready for the next big th-ang that kicks off. At least not all of us. (Why did she send this ppt in the first place, looking for a promotion/new job/full of herself/really proud of the Panther graphic?)

Someone reach out to a Navy pro and let me know if she's been shit canned or promoted yet.

  9. Rumor mill turned out "Tyndall, 2014, full up". No real facts or jet flow dates, just an end date.

Supposedly Florida's Congressmen are beaked that they lost 4 Fighter Squadrons from Tyndall & Eglin. The JSF Squadrons they were promised aren't showing up and the "noise" issue still exist.

Plus the sims are still at Tyndall. Yes, the Air Force gave the contractors for the F-15C sims a 5 year deal, then cut the B course a year later. They've been sitting there doing 1 sim a month ever sense. Yet we had to RIF dudes.

  10. I'm with noonin on this. I used it to buy a new car (emotional purchase, but damnit i wanted it!) and my fiance a wedding ring. I had some left over for other expenses, and if you've never been a 2d Lt before let me tell you - you may not get paid for 2-3 months, or at least not get paid correctly, you may buy a house at your base and need a down payment, you may want to install cable, pay your bills, and at the very least pay off your student loans with it (3% vs 6%, SAVE money by taking out a loan!).

Your choice. Don't use it to party with. I know a guy who did that and he was a lush, blew 25k his senior year and thought he was entitled to it. He was a shit O and was given the choice between a crap assignment or getting out. That's basically how the AF fires you.

  11. I don't have an answer but I can post a symptom - notice none of the new recruiting commercials show fighters? Instead it's battlestar satellites, uavs on mars, and transforming c-17s. Maybe were afraid of really kicking ass. Navy has the same issue "global force for good" - and here I thought they were a satanic breed.

  12. Spaw2001 - I'm an atheist against abortion so your initial premiss sucks. But I digress (I refuse to thread hijack)

It does get more and more disheartening to see things like this, to hear about how rolling my sleeves down, throwing away my patches, and completely detaching squadron morale seems to be a better way to win a war then rugged individualism and tactical prowess - especially when people asking that of us are simply unqualified to do our job.

If you read Robin's book, he would WIN IT. That was his advice to the Pentagon upon returning from Vietnam. I think our real answer isn't to ask what he would do but do it. Instead of writing letters complaining to Gen Welsh we should write letters saying "I'm doing this, I hope you have my back - Sir."

Prime Example - At Robin's first group commander job he was ordered to stop the tradition of glass breaking in the bar. He enforced that order unquestionably but he refused to leave his men with nothing - so instead of breaking all the glass he and the men broke every piece of furniture in the place the first night he showed up!

Conclusion - tear shit up and don't bitch out! If a Chief tells you our out of line remind him what the Air Force does :airforce: , it's history, and how we kick ass with or without our sleeves rolled up or down. But we'd rather do it in style! Oh and that your an officer and that he is way off base.

    Cheers,

  13. Target 2. Mustaches. If you wear one, it will be worn properly. Tom Selleck’s, Pancho Villa’s and Robin Old’s mustaches do not meet the AF standard. Period. For ease in reference, I’ve included a picture for those of you who may be visual learners. If you’re approached by me or someone else scoping-out your ‘stache…it may be because you’re pretty close to the vertical line. It’s not personal…just 100% professional. If anything, I hope everyone takes a look in a mirror at least once during the day for a vector-check on ALL standards. NOTE: Some folks may actually think that purposefully wearing a mustache “out of regs” is cool. Think again, since your example is far from cool & the people in your leadership chain might start questioning your commitment to other standards.

Robin Old's was a ######ing hero Chief. Ever say anything less than exceptional about him again and I'll hurt you, slowly :flipoff: .
