Columbus was my #1! I've got my orders already and I'm PCS'ing from my current base on 1 Apr. I have a 6 May RNLTD with a 6 Jun class date. The other guy in my sqdn that got picked up got Laughlin (his #1) with the same PDD, RNLTD, and class date as I have.

I talked with the Transition flight folk at Columbus and they said that even though AFPC told me I'm in the 6 Jun class, I'm not currently on that class's roster and it's pretty common to sit and wait at least a few months as your class date will keep getting delayed since they're pretty backed up. For Columbus, they said the first month you arrive they let you get settled and then after that you'll be assigned a casual job where you'll work about 4 hrs a day. My dream of being a casual captain is coming true 🥰

Great data! That’s awesome they give you a whole month to “get settled”. The job I excelled most at was casual Lt so I’m pretty stocked to join you in captain casual.

My guess is I’ll be heading there anywhere from Aug to Nov

you have a PPL I’m guessing? I still have IFT

Just used the EFMP trick to find out I'm headed to Columbus!! Not sure of dates yet though.

EFMP Trick (from @Arkbird last year)

    - Log into vMPF and click under self-service actions
    - Click on Assignments (while in self-service) and go down to the EFMP section
    - In the new tab, click on the "apply to change/cancel assignment
    - If this doesn't kick back with "MILPDS doesn't reflect an assignment loaded, click on next and choose any of the options then next again. This next screen will tell you what unit and base you will be going to.

Looks like mine just says the assignment I would have gone to had i not been selected for pilot!

    Do you have your ppl?

So I sat down with my Gp/CC today to get feedback about what he thinks happened (why Iower stratted guys from the wing got picked up with objectively worse packages).

Best guess is it was more subjective based on letter of rec and personal letter. The other 2 have stronger bullets by virtue of simply doing the job longer. We are all the same AFSC, but I've been operational only a year, they've been operational 2-3 years. He didn't sugarcoat it, he says mine was "more fluff"  because I just didn't have as many things I could say yet.

I'm glad I got feedback from him. He doesn't know what AFPC specifically looked at but that's his best guess because all of my scores and numbers on the AF215 were better than theirs. It's encouraging that all I have to do is continue doing my job well for the next year and accumulate stronger bullets.

If anybody is confused, I recommend getting feedback!

Edit: he also said he would look into the alternate process and would get back to me with any info. I'll pass that along on here when he does!

100%. My package was crap last year and I got 5 of 5 at the WG this year I was 1 and 4 and selected. I as a person didn't change but the stuff in my package made me look better. Give it a year and you'll have a lot more "cred"

How do you mean? Like they accidentally released the wrong names or made a mistake?

Like AFPC didn’t release you from the career field of 12f. I could be very wrong it just seems odd you wouldn’t get selected over the other one.

I’ve heard of this happening in my career field. Guy got 1/6 and they picked the 2 and 3 and didn’t release the number 1 due to manning shortages in his current AFSC.

I guess I'm genuinely more confused now because they selected a guy from my base with an all-around worse package than mine

    I was stratted above him

Neither of us have a PPL but I have more civilian hours (25 vs 12)

I have a 99s across the board on the AFOQT and his pilot score was in the 80s

My PCSM score is 87 and his was much, much lower

I had the wing/cc (O-6) write my LoR. He had his Sq/CC (O-5) write his.

Idk if personal letters made the difference but I had several ppl proofread mine and they all gave thumbs up to it.

This hurts but at least I've got a good package for next year. For everybody with a worse package than mine but haven't heard yet, stay positive. As I just indicated it's still very possible for you

Dude to me this might be a release issue from AFPC….that is very odd!

    Bummer. Didn't get picked up

99 pilot, 87 PCSM, stratted 2nd from the wing, Wing/CC wrote my LoR, but no PPL. 5th year in the AF but first time applying. I knew not having not a PPL could hurt but I was hopeful because I thought I had a good application otherwise

Dang! I don’t have a PPL either and wondering if they switched to a more PPL or bust. Second out of? This is rough.

    How do you know?

You won't see it secure. Only mpfs and commanders can see it

It’s on the af portal page that we got the Dec 20 update. My commander can’t find the secure thing!

    or I wasn’t accepted so he doesn’t have the option… 😢
