Lol. Heard that plenty from guard bums. Regardless, I do not miss those days (all UAV's / NSAv)
This is true, but remember that's minority of UPT students who are usually in their early 20s, at the bud of their career, and making decent money for the first time in their life. The last thing they want to do is think about a family, and the dating scene in Omaha isn't for everyone either.
Too true! I am an older married guy going to UPT in the fall and after 4 bases in the last 8 years, the thought of one base for over 4 brings me blissful joy hahaha!

11Rs generally struggle to gain relevance in the flying community. They are continually relegated to bus drivers with little buy-in to the mission, very little tactical mentoring, and low opportunity for career broadening. They also tend to get pigeon holed into assignments because according to AFPC there is 0 transferability from an RC-135 to a KC-135. So unless you really love Omaha you really don't have a lot of future to go anywhere else.
Thank you for the detailed reply. I can see why many people avoid it if they are looking for more excitement. At least homesteading in Omaha will sit well with most families!

WE are definitely getting it this year lol. It’s my first time applying too. I’d be in the same boat next year. But I’d still apply!
💪 we definitely are!

FYSA There was about 13 TFCSD waiver applicants, including myself. I only saw 3 denied.
Heck yea! Stoked you got it. Those are solid odds for folks applying.

First and last because of age?
I’m at 7 years of service. I was told I don’t really have a chance of getting a waiver next year (hopefully that was false info). I’ll still fight for it if I need to next year.

I got 94 AFOQT and 94 PCSM, but not ppl (hoping for the best with it being my first board). Having that ppl with good scores increases your chance a good deal. At least that’s what the stats show.No PPL for me as well; 98 AFOQT and 90 PCSM. First… and technically last time I can apply lol. In terms of strat… 1 of 1 haha. Not sure how that impacts the order of merit. Hoping for the best for us!

New USAF officer - retirement elections

Awesome! One thing I’d like to add is that she will get the automatic 1 percent matching after 60 days of service but she won’t get the full 5 percent matching till two years of service. Fully maxing her TSP might be difficult till she is around a 1 Lt. The additional matching in effect let’s you go over the contribution limit of 22.5k— but they are Traditional contributions by default for the matching.
