Anyone have any luck with their IFT DTS auth and driving your POV vs flying? The email I just got said the directed mode was flying, but I’d rather have my POV even if I’m not reimbursed for everything (or at least up to the cost of the flights)

I'm going to Vance for the 01 Nov class! Send me a DM if you end up getting a chat started
1 Nov here too. I’ll join after my MFS is blessed off 😂

Who did you call for the dorms at Vance? The POC I was given by the MHO evidently is not inclined to pick up their phone. Thanks!
Officer Unaccompanied Housing (580-213-5410). MHO also verified Capts+ are off base

No, just call Housing. I gave them a call at Columbus, and they said I could start looking off base because I'm a Capt. Only single LTs will be in the dorms (at Columbus. other bases may be different).
Just called Vance and got the same answer. Capts+ not required on base unless you request it

I guess it depends on the base. But only single, first assignment officers should have to stay on base. Confirmed on Sheppard's housing website.
I’ll end up just reaching out to Vance. Everything the have posted in the new student guide seems geared toward brand new 2Lts vs Capts with a ton of HHGs

MFS takeaways:
- Lyft/Uber/Cabs can get on base from the airport.
- When you show up o/a 0730, they do basic height, weight, sitting measurements. Super quick and easy.
- Then until lunch, about 1100, they pull people back for vision tests 2-3 at a time. So there is a lot of waiting around and BSing. If you didn't eat or get coffee earlier, there is a coffee/food place upstairs. They do distance, color (with the "C" that rotates 90 degrees), and pictures of your eyes.
- Lunch is about an hour. Like I said earlier, food is in the building so if you don't have a rental, don't sweat it.
- After lunch are brutally long 2x personality, 2x cognitive tests on the computer. Not difficult for the most part, just time-consuming.
- A few of us had to extra eye tests; specifically, I had to do a visual spatial test to test functionality of something that looked "weird" in the scans.
BL: Pretty low-key and they are all super nice.
Not sure I’ve done the rotating C color test. Last one I did was matching letters on the laptop with a grey background

45-60 days prior is pretty standard per AFPC. There's a lot more inprocressing to do at formal training bases than a normal pcs additionally there's some required tasks (observe events) that CB requires prior to start unless you're guard/reserve or have previous experience (previous white jet IP time, etc).
All single students are required to stay on base unless you're a Capt or higher. I would say stay on base for the ease of convenience to everywhere you'll go. At least that's what I'm doing but I'll be in family housing.
Is there a written rule somewhere about the Capt+ being able to go straight off base? Everything I’ve read is if you’re “single” you can be on the hook for on base.

There’s mandatory and there’s mandatory. I know plenty of ex-Navs and ABMs who don’t rock the biplane. Nobody is going to ever call them out for not wearing a mandatory badge.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkTrue. I was just saying what my unit purchased for me. I’ll be buying a blank set without them

My unit added Cyber Wings with the name, since they’re mandatory wear….. I’ve seen dudes go through IFT with some generic black or leather looking name patches but I don’t know where they got them from

How responsive was AFPC when you emailed their workflow?
I’ve typically gotten a response within a few hours

Nice! I still haven't heard anything other than I'm going to Columbus. Can't even get to my CDB or AFPC Secure right now for some reason.
For what it’s worth my PDD is 1 Sept for 1 Nov class, so maybe everyone can calculate it that way unless it’s just a coincidence it’s exactly 60 days out like what was mentioned earlier

How did you find out your start date? I haven't seen anything.
Had to email DP2OR because my MFS was rescheduled, and they responded with a screenshot of the system showing all my dates. I wasn’t sure if anyone else had heard when they start or not
-
Anyone else with Vance and an 11/1 UPT start?
-
Anyone know why IFT is scheduled for a month and a half? Got my RIP for 1 Mar when AFPC was saying late spring/summer. Either I’ll PCS earlier than they said (Fall) or it’ll be an awkwardly long amount of time between IFT and UPT
-
I have bad memories from my MFS in college…. Got knocked out for color vision under the old standards. Fingered crossed I can pass for a third time under the current standards. Maybe this visit to Wright-Pat is redemption!

Does anyone have any update as to when class/IFT/MFS dates will be posted? I think last year it looked like they posted in your CDB a couple days after selection.
I reached out to AFPC/DP2OR about generic timelines for UPT selects specifically and was told their working to load MFS dates right now for those that need it, followed by IFT. Not sure if it's the same for everyone, but I was told late Spring-Summer for IFT and Fall PCS......... a bit later than I had hoped.

Yeah that’s what sucks lol. I thought my “well rounded airmen concept” would be my saving grace because I figured my numbers were mid average. Only downside was not finishing the ppl which made me 2 of 2 for applying. My wife is a CSO so things are limited. Might just take CSO and hope the age waiver stays around for the next time I apply. Would hate to apply next year and not get cso or pilot lol. Congrats on getting selected!!!! CSO was the only option I was on the fence about so of course that’s the one I get to ensure my stress levels are up 😂
I would double check the Board Results document before you decline if that's what you decide to do. I think there's a blurb in there that states if you had an approved ETP for age, then you are not eligible to reapply. I could be wrong though.

Have any of you other captains not had the chance to attend SOS yet? The UPT and follow on training timeline makes me fairly concerned as far as getting that done before Maj PRFs are due
