You do realize Slife wants to take ALL the guns off the AC-130...and make the PSP a roll on roll off so the MC community can provide "fratricide"...I mean CAS.

Im gonna go with that was just a realistic expectation and not a dig on the MC community at large.

We've been down this road before with the Combat Wombat and I think you’d be 100% correct that forcing an MDS to “specialize” in two distinctly different mission sets is asking for disaster. However comma there could be some benefits with a common platform. Have dedicated gunship squadrons with associated ranges stateside whose crews could go forward quickly to meet up with pre-staged equipment from overseas MC units? Might be some goodness there.

That being said, much like the ACE debacle it would probably executed in the dumbest way possible.

  2. If you’re still waiting to find out if you made O-4, try registering for ACSC by correspondence. A few years ago I used that trick to find out early that I made O-5 with AWC (Although registering is as far as I went with that! 🍺) Apparently Air University gets the list even before Senior Raters. At least they used to, they might’ve fixed the glitch by now though.

Starship Troopers? Yes. It was ok, not my fav of the genre but still a classic obviously. I actually prefer the movie!

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman is excellent and IMHO superior to Starship Troopers; well worth your time if you haven’t read it.

    Fair enough!

Forever War was great, Forever Peace was meh… interesting concept though.

1000% disagree. Having obtainable naturalization and birthright citizenship is a huge leg up for the US and always has been. Furthermore, the cultural norm that an “American” isn’t a race or a people that one either has or doesn’t but rather a set of ideals and something you can choose is at the foundation of our enduring strength.

I would actually support universal national service for all young people that conferred benefits like college or job training money & opportunities.

But a just-naturalized Bulgarian-American or a second-generation, US-born Colombian-American is just as much a citizen as you or I, and I sincerely believe that is a feature that makes the US superior to other countries.

You can move to China and speak Chinese and live there for 50 years but you’ll never “be Chinese” and that’s simply not the case here.

Honest question, have you read the book?

For those who've read their Robert Heinlein, I can thoroughly envision a near future where the veterans in society have to save it from itself.

I encourage as many people as I can to READ Starship Troopers. The universal reaction is usually “holy shit”.

Ah yes! The glorious liberation of Pro Freedom Peoples Republic of Belgorod! It is wonderful that heavy weapons for this spontaneous uprising were locally obtained and available at local military surplus stores! Any Ukrainians who might happen to be in the area are there on vacation purely of their own free will. If you really think about it, it makes sense for them to seek independence from Moscow since Belgorod was historically never actually a part of Russia, but ended up there as a result of the post-Soviet breakup. This message happily brought to you by the Little Green Legion.

We dwellers are a highly varied breed.  Some are respectful and treat the house as our own.   Others, not so much.  If there were level below 'rental',  it's 'crashpad'.

😂 I’m now picturing every aircrew dorm while deployed. I’ll keep it personal and thanks for the advice!

Of course the big question is why aren’t you moving to that base sooner…are you talking about not getting that base for a while because it’s senior?

Big question and fair! Seniority mostly combined with the wife has a good job here now that may be able to relocate later.

  9. Not to break the current trend, but…

Im looking at commuting my first couple of years post-AF. Since it sounds like there’s a lot of sitting reserve, how crazy of an idea is it to plan on buying a home at the base you’re reserve at with the intention of fixing it up and eventually moving in with the family while using it as a crash pad until then?

Increased amount. Early take option. Additional ADSC for assignment of preference. More contract options. Gen Miller briefed it in a small group I was a part of a couple weeks ago. Those were the interesting parts I remember

As someone who got ed the last time the AF offered early take, absolutely don’t ing do it.

May I please have “Fük” added to my list of words I can use?

Agreed! Diamond Dave is a legend. I casually use several phrases from that video in normal conversation and it's funny when some young zoomer kid who hasn't seen it looks at me like, "WTF are you talking about?"
