  1. Hey all, this league is still going strong with mostly ops or ops related people in it. We need to fill one more spot for a 10 man roster. We are currently setup as a 1/2 PPR league with a 25$ buy in. 1st takes $150, 2nd $75 and 3rd $25. Post here if you'd like to join, we are up on Sleeper as Mors Ab Alto.

Just wanted to add something that I lucked into if any of the younger dudes are thinking about OLMP. If you take the captain's OLMP, do only the core classes, get maj sel, you can transfer the core classes to the majors OLMP and knock out IDE/JPME too.

How smooth was the process to switch to the Joint concentration after you got your line number?

AI had perfect data. I have no idea how they would get this info airborne. I'd imagine that will be a long way off.

In a visual engagement it could be a 360 camera with laser ranging? That would probably be enough data for the AI. Can you imagine having a BFM drone flying next to your 6th Gen fighter? Give it the Banzai command, get visual EID through your data link to the drone and watch it slay everything.

Question for the audience from a lowly T-1 stud - are the last drops of the year better or worse on average? FAIPs are saying it’s gonna be fire. Last drop of FY20 scheduled to be Aug 20 for classes 20-22/23

Are T-38s and T-1s dropping together or separate now?

  5. I'm a late to rate guy, with a kid, dropped Vipers and I'm at the B-course now. I know of four other Captains who went 38s of them they dropped RC-135s, B-2s, F-15Es, and F-16s. Just some data for you. I think that is bad gouge that you got. Being a Capt will not and should not prevent you from dropping a fighter if that's what you want.

  6. And WIC's response......

    Weapons School Graduates-
I’ve become aware that Air Force Material Command (AFMC) has published an article regarding a future Acquisitions Weapons School. Unfortunately, this article was not coordinated with The United States Air Force Weapons School. AFI 11-415 clearly details the requirements and rigor required to establish a Weapons Instructor Course. Rest assured, that if the Acquisition’s community wants to establish a Weapons School, they will be held to the same standards as all other WICs.

  7. There is a podcast called "Professionals Playbook" on iTunes and the host (current F-35 pilot) interviews someone who did exactly this. I believe he went through Medical School while being a ANG F-16 pilot. He had to take a pause when we was deployed during residency or something but said he was able to spend time with the deployed trauma units and learned a lot from that experience.

Zipper inserts may be worn, however they will be without design. [NOTE: Effective 1 Apr 2021, only Coyote Brown boots are authorized with the FDU/DFDU.] [NOTE: Only items approved as Safe-to-Fly will be worn during flying operations.

Not working for me right now. Flight med at my base are telling me they need a letter from my CC and an AFPC email before they can start.

Yea this is B.S. you don't need to provide anything to start your FC1. I did two at two different bases and the process was the same both times. Just call or walk in and schedule the appointment. Easy.

  10. We were told you that if you were selected for K. Falls then you would not go directly there after B-course. You would be assigned to another unit until you have enough hours/experience to make IP then you would return to K. Falls to teach the B-course. This is gouge from a few years ago so YMMV. As far as being assigned to either unit, you are applying for both and should expect to be hired by either one based on needs of the ORANG.

  11. DEVIL and FLEA are spot on. I did my PPL training in a C-172 before pilot training and after UPT graduation went to a FSDO and got my CMEL w/IFR ratings for free. Even though I have the license I would not feel confident flying IMC/IFR in a Cessna. VFR is fine but only since I have about 60 hours in 172s. GA flying is fun and I would definitely recommend it but do NOT over-estimate your UPT experience and think you can just go fly one without any training. Just my 2C.

I know that I’m supposed to go to SOS in the middle of January so I’m not entirely sure how that’s going to work.. hoping they’ll let me go so I don’t have to worry about it after training. Not sure if any of the “older heads” are in the same boat.

Go to SOS first. You won't have any good time once you get into the pipeline.

Can we go back to this brown boots with green bags topic?  Is this a thing?  If so I'm making the switch tomorrow.  it, I'll do it anyways.  Good talk boys!

Last I saw they took that line out of the AFI. So I'm not sure what the current green/coyote status is....

  14. I was in your shoes last year and knowing what I know now I would have pursued AFRC or ANG much earlier in my career. You get to pick your location, air frame/mission, and have significantly less stress in UPT than your AD brethren. What is not to like? Active Duty may have more overseas basing opportunities if that is what you want, but the daily QoL is going to be better in the AFRC/ANG.

If you are dead set on fighters then you should probably keep AD as an option. Getting a fighter slot in the AFRC is difficult and definitely not a guarantee, I'd argue you have equal if not slightly better chances to pickup fighters from an AD slot. If you're more into the AMC lifestyle then you have a lot more options in terms of units that you can apply for and get hired at in the AFRC. Your lack of waivers is a plus right now but that won't last long since you'll be coming up on both age and total active service time waivers real quick. If you are going to AFRC you best do it quick, because it seems like some (but not all) AFRC/ANG units are not interested in pursuing any waivers for their applicants.
