  1. Ok, just saw a dude in a flight suit, with cyber wings, AND A WEAPON SCHOOL GRADUATE PATCH at the Died CC chow hall...WTFO??
  2. The picture of opening night with a bunch of dudes in ABUs pretty much summed it up. I bet they have sweet crud tournaments!
  3. Sent to the ENTIRE OG. Please little baby Jesus get me out of this "combat zone" before I go bat-sh** crazy. Oh and the kid put a sign on EVERY SINGLE door in CC, caddys, chow hall, laundry, you name it. We, the USAF, are absolutely pathetic. There are coffins coming through here daily and this is what people are worried about. -----Original Message----- From: XXXXXXXXXXX USAF AFCENT 379 XXXX Sent: Monday, April 26, 2010 8:43 AM To: 379 EMSG/CCE; 379 EMXG/CCE; 379 EMDG/CCE; 379 EOG All Personnel Subject: FW: i Phone lost XO, If you don't mind please send this out to your respective group ... During the recent bag drag at PAX Terminal, SrA WHINY BEEOTCH lost/dropped his Iphone. The phone is a black Iphone, in a black "Otterbox" case. If found please return to the XXXX (GAYSTARS) OPS desk or we can come get it from you. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. V/r //signed// XXXXXXXX, Capt, USAF
  4. I empty the 12 packs of water all at once so I always have a bottle handy...no gatorade here yet.
  5. Assuming you have a cool squadron you have nothing to worry about. It would be your first shirt doing any kind of inspections...don't think there is any wing program. 95% of dudes pee in bottles here so you have nothing to worry about. Subject change...just watched a 1-star bow his head and say Salami Lickem to the Qatari clerk at customs, followed by a female captain who CURTSIED as she handed in her ID. You think the Qatari generals bow to our shoe clerk customs agents? It was cool to see the HNCC actually look up from their book though when the general was in the room.
  6. Agree with most except couldn't disagree more about the new Caddy's...they are horrible. They smell bad, have pools of standing water on the floor, showers have no hot water/water pressure, shitter doors are already falling off...etc. etc. I walk a half mile to go to an old caddy to shower now, well worth the 10 minute walk.
  7. Great SR-71 story... https://gizmodo.com/5511236/the-thrill-of-flying-the-sr+71-blackbird
  8. How a guaranteed 10 years of employment doing a job most people dream about can be a bad thing is beyond me...
  9. If you aren't 155k (or whatever j-model max gross is) taking off you don't have enough gas.
  10. With the fast wireless though they are installing a new proxy server to start blocking websites. As of right now it's wide open, but when they put in the proxy next week it's anyone's guess how restrictive they are going to make it.
  11. Heard this juicy one today... The rumor is that when you are deployed, if your BAH is less than your mortgage payment, uncle sam will make up the difference. This can't be true or you could go buy a million dollar house and let the government make the payments for you. Can someone kill this one for me? I feel stupid for even posting but you never know...
  12. I have my iPhone unlocked...wondering if I can get a Qtel or vodaphone sim card with a data plan while I'm over there. Anyone messed around with an iPhone at the Died?
  13. If any pilots/co-pilots are interested in a 60 or 120 day tour at the Deid with an AFRC C-130 unit from Jan-Apr, send me a PM. The catch with a 60 day rot is that you have to have a buddy to do the other 60.
  14. That has to be a joke? You had me until NO WATER...and WTF do you do at the chow hall?
  15. Alright to wrap this up... Was about to buy the full kit for the helmet but they needed my helmet size. So I grabbed my helmet to look at lo-and behold wouldn't you know it I already have a zetaliner AND the earcups. I guess my squadron hooked me up at some point... Funny thing is it feels better now, guess that's psychological.
  16. What's wrong with the headpad?
  17. Sweet makes me feel better...damn expensive though. Going to be ~260 bucks for the bose and helmet upgrades. Pulling the trigger tomorrow after my show-time so I can check my helmet size. Thanks for the help.
  18. Awesome, thanks! Edit: Man I am getting up-sold like crazy...Looking to buy their helmet upgrades as well...anyone tried those?
  19. End of year money implies competent fiscal policy...
  20. Anyone know of a good place to get thicker cushions for my bose headset? Sick of my ears hurting at the end of a long sortie. Google found oregon aero which sells a kit for ~70 bucks but that seems like a lot. Anyone have any favorites they can reccomend?
  21. Are there active duty Herks there now or just AFRC?
  22. Here's the problem with the AMP: What extra capability does it give the AF? Obviously it's very sweet for us pilot types, but it still only gets you 60+2 somewhere at 300TAS. What's the point? And don't say cost savings by eliminating a crew position cause there is no way that would equal AMP'ing the fleet. Anyway the AMP sim is up and running at LRF. Rumor is the 189th will be the AMP schoolhouse. They have H models arriving this fall with AMP'ed birds in the pipeline. <---Can't wait to fly them, I just don't think they make sense big picture wise. P.S. My favorite part of that picture is the fact they left the shitty approach plate holder connections on there...Herk is still the Herk!
  23. Imagine that...another ambiguous AF reg that could be interpreted either way.
  24. Question...Vol 3 says : 5.7.2. Crewmembers will have seat belts fastened when occupying a duty position, unless crew duties dictate otherwise. 5.7.3. All crewmembers will have seat belts fastened during takeoff and landing unless crew duties dictate otherwise. Fasten shoulder harness unless crew duties dictate otherwise. Crewmembers performing instructor or flight examiner duties or are in upgrade training to instructor or flight examiner are exempt from seat belt requirements if not occupying a primary crew position; however, they will have a seat available with an operable seat belt My question is, do pilots have to wear their shoulder harnesses at all times? I read the second paragraph as saying they have to be on during takeoff and landing, but if you read the second sentence by itself you could apply it to all phases of flight. It's a poorly written rule that could be interpreted either way I guess, but what do you guys think? If they have to be on at all times then why do we reference it during the line-up and before landing checks?
  25. Anyone else think it's ridiculous that they fly pro in a 747? Talk about a waste of money...I guess you could apply that to all non-tac airlift. Airlines don't practice landings...why do we??
