  1. Work/Guard-life question: How often are you able to get in the jet given your hectic schedule? Any trouble getting a good year? Do you even have time to dip into the AFTP bucket? I know the challenge of balancing a non-airline .civ job with the ANG...but you are on a different level. The AFRC -135 unit at ADW able to get you on for a quick 1-1-1 now and then?

  2. As folks have mentioned anything with a start or end counts. So airshows..yes. Also deployments, ORI/UCIs (incl prep), process implementation (ie incorporation of E-readers, getting folks spun up/quald on new systems such as CTIIor testing out new systems. Large scale exercises are also legit....the planning, scenario development, beddown, execution, roll-up, etc. Be ready to be audited, tho. As long as you have some sort of documentation (ie OPRs) you will be good to go. An MFR from your boss saying yes, his application is legitIve reviewed it works. Be sure to also do some reading up on Agile (Scrum). No need to go and spend money on a scrum master course if you are newbut to say you know PM and are familiar with Agile is clutch on a resume/in an interview.

  3. The syracuse program is legit. Knocked out my PMP with them....which made me far more marketable as I get out of AD. Lots of other stuff in there as well for you, your troops and spouses. You may need to give em a call after you apply to follow up/get things moving...but other than that they have great customer service (surprising since it is all free)

  4. I think the time is dependent upon how long it takes for your AOs to get generated. I've known people that it took a couple months and on the flip side I know a guy that took a year and half because his losing AD base screwed up the process.

I've heard about getting the ARC commission...but had not heard about AOs being a sticking point. It it a AD HARM to ARC-HARM issue...or just the way business is done?

  5. Maybe not a sweeping change, but I'll take it...

Everyone please post all the stuff you heard when you were at SOS that never came true. Just a few years ago--ops guys who were IDE selects were probably not going to go because of operational requirements/365s/etc...but the promotion board would be told why you did not go in-res. This was (supposedly) going to happen to a lot of folks.

  6. This is pretty niche...but any experience from some who dropped a PC app while also having a IDE 3849 in the system/meeting the board? Unsure if that would cause an auto-reject for PC (you are applying to school...sorry). Lots can happen/change in the 6+ months between submitting a 3849 and having the results released/getting a RIP/7-day'ing said RIP.

  7. "Yes you can serve out the remainder of your ADSC with the Reserves through the Palace Chase program. Reference AFI36-2306, Attachment 9, paragraph A9.18.8.6.1:

If the Airman was a member of the active component, the Airman may join a Selected Reserve unit and regain the authority to transfer benefits if the Airman agrees to serve at least the remaining length of time which was not served under the original agreement."

Solid info. So COA 2-- I recend the transfer (this getting rid of the GiB ADSC totally), palace front (as I would have no commitment) then re-transfer when in the guard. Is this possible or are you only allowed to recend benefits once...and they are gone forever. Call me gunshy...but the idea of getting out on my own timeline and my own accord seems better than dealing with the bureaucracy of Palace Chase.

  8. I said this in the other string of comments about TEB and an ADSC....read the fine print on the ADSC. It states that a transfer incurs a 4 year service commitment in either the regular military OR the selective reserve (ie any normal active reservist). If anyone tells you that you must stay on active duty because of TEB they are WRONG. The Guard/Reserve ADSC for TEB reads just like my RegAF ADSC did. The only ADSCs that matter with regard to Palace Chase are UPT, advanced flying training (for some) or initial service commitments.

Just because someone works at AFPC or is otherwise in a position of authority doesn't necessarily mean the know the rules 100%. I had to remind AFPC people of their own rules on occasion when I PC'd. Know the rules. Know your rights.

So if the only ADSC is 9/11 transfer...then would that be Palace chase or front? Has anyone has success in getting out early to the ARC when your only ADSC is 9/11 GIB?

  9. He's also exLAPD. LAPD managed to shoot up a couple innocent women trying to deliver newspapers somehow thinking it was this guy or something.

He's also a former 8 FTS student at Vance....I remember him. Washed out pre-solo. Actually made the news up there when he and another student found some cash downtown. They turned it into the cops. it ended up belonging to a church. Big news that week in sleepy Enid.

  10. I don't understand why this has to be so stupid. Can't they just get together locally, eat and drink and talk about some volunteer activity. Once a month host a senior leader on something? WTF is all this other nonsense?

Why is their a regional/national chair person?

    Self importance. Its a drug.
