I believe it was Robin Olds who started the tradition, or at least he made it more popular. He grew an out of regs handlebar mustache that caused his men to love him even more. I highly recommend reading about him, he's an interesting guy.
Who is this Robin Olds ye speaketh of?

LOL. Holy shit, man. How can someone be so out of touch with the basics? Haha. Luckily her vote counts as much as mine and yours.

Should America ever ban firearms, I'm going back to Michigan. Immediately.

Thanks for the info, I suppose after my commitment it wouldn't really make much sense at that point. After my AD career, I have always wanted to get into politics, so a legal background would be helpful, but might make more sense to get a masters in International Affairs or political science (my BA background) due to time constraints
And why is law a good route to politics? Yeah, th majority of the guys running the show these days are so-called lawyers, but that doesn't mean that's the way it should be. Today's politicians are career politicians... not lawyers. I'd like it if more politicians were trained economists. Just an idea... If you plan on sticking with the AF for a considerable amount of time, I'd think you'd be better served acquiring an MBA or some other multipurpose degree coupled with extensive networking. Retire from AD and go straight to a executive position with a moderately-sized company.
But politics is a shitshow.

CB 09-03 Assignment Night
T1 Only:
C-17 McChord
C-17 Charleston
KC-135 McConnell
KC-10 Travis
KC-10 McGuire
C-21 Scott
UAS x 2 Creech
T-1 FAIP
E-3 Tinker
KC-135 New Jersey Gaurd
KC-135 Pennsylvania Gaurd
Only two of the assignments (one of the UAS was number three on the dude's list) were low on the dream sheet, so pretty good night for Columbus.
Correction... 1 of the UAS assignments was to Cannon.

1st generation flyer. 2nd generation AF.

I've posted this video before but ###### it, the PR guys need to recognise what a good recruiting commercial looks like:
Seen it numerous times before and I still think it's one of the best AF videos I've ever seen.

THe only problem with this thread is that I am forced to download each of these graphics. At least the video thread loads fast.

Should you reconsider? Absolutely not. Leave the flying to those with the passion for it. Not to knock on your desire to be an ABM... My experience is that most pilots know they want to be pilots. If you don't know that, then you probably don't. Yes, I'm painting with a broad brush, but I think you see my point.
Good luck with the boards, dude.

I get the distinct impression that, when someone asks about getting to the gym, people assume the person asking is a musclehead. Not necessarily so. And I had no intentions of playing lawyer with my IPs. Just curious what the requirements were. Thanks for the input.

The first Afghan to come to the states for UPT is in my class. Cultural differences abound, but his motivation is high... so I think he'll make it. Thye have him on the ALP program and he's going to be flying the T-6 here until April or so.

AFI 10-248 states in section 2.2.1 that "Physical training time must be included as an integral part of mission requirements." Being at UPT and currently on formal release, we're not really given the opportunity to get to the gym at all during the duty day. It is common understanding in my class that the unit is supposed to allot three 90-minute blocks for individual PT during the week.
Before going to the chain of command and embarassing ourselves, a couple questions. Is that "90 minutes, 3 times a week" thing even valid? 10-248 says that the American College of Sports Medicine recommends that as a minimum, but I couldn't find any verbiage saying our unit was obligated to give us that time. Am I missing something? If it is valid, are there special provisions for students in training?
Thanks.

Does this cross the line?
I'm thinking that it might. Haha.

I lived in Vegas for almost 18 years. As long as I can remember, my family went with Cox and never had a problem. There are a number of wireless broadband providers, but nothing compares to Cox's speed and reliability.

They can turn the border area into a wasteland of rotting corpses...a meat grinder for illegals and drug smugglers...
'Cause that is exactly how we want to control the border... Come on now...

Wow. Gotta push someone pretty hard to crack a rear window. Perhaps a bit hard on the push, but "daddy's boy" needs to know his place... or at least be put back into it. Todaro probably could have turned the intensity down a bit... but 3am, drinking... yeah.

Seems like they are just taking the History Channel "Dogfights" show to the next level by using live aircraft to re-enact the battles.
It's going to suck. Period. You can't re-enact the battles as they happened. Let's see Battle of Britain... "Where can I get 75 Spitfires and 160 Me-109s? What? You say there aren't that many flying anymore? Shit!" Dogfights has the format right. Love that show.

If anyone here is at Columbus, please PM me with what squadron they were in. One of my oldest friends is in the 43rd.
Thanks.
-38s are flown in the 49th and 50th squadrons.

We've got one of those floating around here at CB. Though I never see it around... always in the same spot.

Personal preference. It's very common at OTS. If you're going to do it, make it someone important to you such as your retired enlisted father/grandfather/whatever.

Glasses, shirts, stickers, mandatory fun, matching panties, etc... How much cash is UPT going to require? Just a curiousity. Every school I've been to thus far has hit me up for something or the other.

Regarding my class's patch...
1) Yes, we had two Japanese studs, one Slovak and the first Afghan to receive training here in the States. All were really good dudes. There were definitely cultural issues with the Afghan, but he's motivated and works hard. The Slovak and he are ALP studs and should be out of here in a couple months.
2) The original patch was as pictured in the link, but it had "one taco at a time" on a second line. Obvious double entendre, right? We submitted it up the chain and MEO disapproved it because it could be considered offensive to hispanics (no mention of the world's 3 billion women). So we removed that line, resubmitted and... shazzam. Approved! We wore it for a few months and eventually the jig was up. Word came down quickly that we were to remove it under threat of LOR. My SRO got reamed for it. We submitted another patch (donkey punch theme), had that shot down and were subsequently assigned a patch... a gray square with our class number in the middle in black... 3" on all sides. We'll be wearing that proudly until we graduate.
But mustaches! The majority of my class will be rocking a 'stache for the month... some better than others, of course.
