  1. Ok simple question. Girl not married, leases a place. Gets married to guy, guy goes AD and has to move. Can she use his orders to break the lease? If no, are there any other options? thanks, john.
  2. To tag onto his questions. How would ya'll guess career progression might be for the future. I know that the community is rather small so less opportunities for commander and leadership positions. Does this mean that a lot of guys don't go for 20? Not saying I'm in to make general, just wondering? With spec ops changing in the future, does speculation even matter? More specifically related to helo pilots, how come you rarely see or hear about colonels or GOs, am I blind or are they getting out early?
  3. I don't know if this is the right thread or not, but... What is the career progression like for most helo drivers. Is it unlikely, or much more competitive than the fighter or heavy world to make rank? It would seem that with the smaller community, there would be much fewer staff and command positions. Do pilots thinking career expect to be career flyers, or do pilots usually get fed up with the deployments and get out before that becomes a decision. Also, are a lot of the newest 22 guys going to make GO, just like the first guys to fly eagles and probably just like the new raptor guys probably will? john.
  4. This is a summary of the FC1 I received for ROTC at Brooks. I put it here instead of medical because I don't know if things are different for others trips to brooks. Day 1 Consisted of arrival from Clemson and transportation to the base. Nothing goes on other than checking in and fasting 12 hours before our start time of 7am. Day 2 First day of tests, you do blood work, first piss test, and dental x-ray (supposed to do dental exam, but the doc wasn’t there and we did it day 2) before you can eat. Then in whatever order possible, sitting/standing/knee height, vision tests (circle depth test/grid test/puffer machine/cornea picture/near and far vision tests/color blindness), ekg (echo if you have something weird) and audiology. Day 3 Second day. Vitals, drug piss test, more eye tests (double checking that dilation is ok, this is where if they found out your vision isn’t up to par, but still within regs, you will get the proper correction for flying), dilation and the associated tests, dental exam. Day 4 I had to do my physical (should have been done day 3 but there wasn’t enough docs), at this point the docs will fill you in on your test results. And finally travel home. Other The people were extremely nice and helpful for the most part, there was one lady that sucked but all the rest were great. Try not to stress to much, from my understanding they want you to pass and if there are problems they assist you as much as possible in getting the waiver. If you aren’t asked for more tests, you passed. And most importantly, be prepared to wait, a lot. Recommendations If you have enough people if your group, split the cost of a rental car. We had 6, and ended up spending way too much time on the bus or paying enough in cab fair to justify renting a car. San Antonio is cool, brooks city sucks something awful, go to SA every night. Casa Rio on the river walk is good and cheap Mexican, better than your standard Mexican, definite recommendation. The little red barn is not so good but ok if you don’t want to go all the way in to the downtown (its in brooks city), ok steaks, shady part of town. The county line also on the river walk is awesome, recommend for the last night, expensive beers, but all you can eat ribs and other bbq for a little over 20 bucks, its called the Cadillac. Coyote ugly isn’t cool at all, if you want to have a good time I hear cowboys near the interstate is the place to go. Pm me if you have any questions
  5. Just out of curiosity, how many people on here are contemplating mustache march? I'm only in ROTC now, but enough of my AD friends have got me thinking this will be fun. I'm rather slow in the growing department so me and my roommate started today. I'll even probably be going on spring break with mine. We'll also get the results back from big week while rocking these out. I'll attempt to post some pics once they get good. Good luck growing for everyone man enough to try john.
  6. Ok. Well I'll preface this by stating I am a ROTC cadet still currently without a slot, but will find out in March and am not too concerned with my chances. I want to know the truth about going to UPT at Pensacola. A lot of the things I have heard are bits a pieces from people that haven't actually gone there for training. I know about muster and I understand that it would probably take almost twice as long as AF UPT. But... I hear that there it is a lot more slack and the Navy feels that you have already earned something rather the AF idea that you still have a lot to prove as a stud. True? Also, is there any validity to the story that it is easier to get a 38 out of there? But that 'cola 38 studs don't do as well in phase 3 or what ever its called. I realize the location is cool, but what are the real advantages to going there? Thanks, John.
