  1. Dude pick the hog. You will get down to 500ft on your 8th ride in the jet, shoot the gun on the 13th ride and pretty much every sortie from that point on. You can also loiter high and drop jdams/lgbs for hours on end. The c model has amazing capes and will be around for a long time. We deal with the army, marines, special forces, and any grunt on the ground who needs our assistance.

Sure its slow and it sucks at bfm....but can you find any other negatives?

You realize after flying the Hog that it wasn't built to go fast, fly formation, go on cross country, shoot multiple inst approaches, or do all kinds of cool aerobatics. It was designed to fly low, carry a metric shit ton of weapons and kill any fucking thing on the ground....period dot. Thats what it does, and thats what we train for.

    easy decision imo

  2. I dont on inside interview details, or how often units have them. You need to talk to the specific unit for details like that. You need to visit that specific unit. Do you have any contacts there or anyway you can call/email them and ask to stop by for a visit. Unless you deploy with them, or happen to know guys in the unit, thats about it.

Its also good to have a few good reasons why you want to be there. Family there, from that location, civilain job lined up...ect

    good luck

  3. the paper cockpit won't help in the beginning...as it's been said before, boldface/ops limits, then -1 (systems & EPs). When it comes time to learn your "flow", go sit in the UTDs and actually flip switches...way more effective IMO.

flipping switches helps a ton int he UTD, but they are not always open and its great to have that poster on your wall to look at if you need help remmeber where a switch is while doing ground ops. Sure it may not be best thing to study right when you start, but it wont hinder you when you start doing sims week 2 or 3.

And even if you are guard still go in with the attitude that your gonna kick ass and do your best. AT the end of the day, being guard has some added pressure others dont have. Dont slack and get the "classic guard guy" stink on you....your life will suck.

  4. When I was there back in late June, we attended a roll call at the 22 squadron. It was an experiance let me say.......not as much fun as we thought it would be.

We couldnt get anyone to give us a clear answer on seeing a 22. But we probably asked the wrong people. Find someone over in the 22 squadron and they will most likely have the best advice?

    isuguy....you from Vance?

  5. If you want to enlist fine....but I say the biggest thing to get hired is not being a doush. Call them and be a professional yet down to earth guy looking for information. Ask if you wanted to visit the unit how would you go about it. Get an email to contact and pick a date to visit. Dont email them every week asking questions, getting advice or other annoying stuff. Go visit and DONT BE A NERDY DOUSH!!! Just hang out, have fun, and get as much info as possible. Find out when applications are due and turn in one thats professional. Also, dont bug them on board dates after the visit. Drop an email saying you appreciate their hospitality and thats it.

  6. Im an avid shooter and plan on taking my two handguns and Mosin Nagant rifle with me to Columbus. I plan on living on base and Im not really sure how to store the weapons and so forth. Im also interested if there are any rifle/handgun ranges in or near Columbus. Does anyone here have any advice or can point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!!
