Risk to fill squadrons with nothing but Lieutenants and Captains is acceptable. Enough FGOs will stick around to adequately fill the commander positions. The research is conclusive. People on this forum don’t want to hear that, but not wanting to hear something doesn’t mean it’s not true. The Pentagon is 100% focused on production ramp to 1500.
You must have forgotten your morning coffee enema before that briefing. The slide I saw said 1500 Fighter pilots. That's in addition to the 1500 pilots for everywhere else. The studies and data have proven that this is possible through hot pits and shutting down only 1 engine for T-38 crew swaps on the 8 go days. A request for best practices from Delta will give us an idea on how to keep the Sims going 24/7. On a happy side note, they also briefed how they were able to reduce finance's hours of operations to 10-1300 with a 1.5 hour lunch by simply taking phones off the hook. Very productive days ahead guys!

I just took a high-level briefing on this- Take rates are WAY up this year IN THE GUARD compared to last. The percentages are actually pretty staggering. We are well on our way to solving this crisis.

3rd year Delta (expect other majors to bump shortly) first officer pay will be ~$210,000 per year plus profit sharing + 401k.
I’d say the USAF has some problems coming up.
Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile appTech pay for a Viper IP in Tucson that sits alert starts at ~$205,000 + TSP match up to 5% + profit sharing at 69%. $4k/ year pay raises each year for the first 4 years then potential for annual bonuses after that.

By genitalia of course you mean the gender by which one identifies as today, right? Wouldn't want you to be labeled as transphobic.

Not true for the F-16 FTU. One of the squadrons has been on the chopping block for a couple of years. Which general did you hear this from?

So I'd like a serious answer on this. I understand the hate toward the idea of it but hear me out.
As someone who is "qualified" (Aero/mech engineering, Master's, hockey, 600 hour CFI, 8 years building nuclear subs) but who may have trouble getting a guard slot flying fighters my heart leaped out my chest reading this post and I know I will not be the only one. To get to fly something like the T-6 that can go upside down with the Air Force even if not in the Air Force is a big friggin deal to me and I know I will not be the only one. Can I have a realistic answer as to if this is a good path or not, or will I get shit on as a civilian contractor? Also any idea on what would happen if you can get a guard slot after you accept or a half way through?
First off, you won't be a civilian contractor. You'll be a civilian employee to the government. Big difference in that you won't be beholden to contact renegotiations and other instability. Govt civilian has it's pluses and minuses. It will be interesting to see how they manage these people as the civilian structure is much different from the military structure to include performance, feedback and removal from positions.
Will you be shit on as a civilian? This is a complicated question. Will you get work the mil guys don't want to do? Depends on how they write the position. Will you be respected by students and other IPs? You'll definitely have an uphill battle to earn respect as an IP. You'll be missing the "been there done that" of the military in general. I would imagine students will avoid going to these guys for mentoring and insight as they will not be relevant for military flying outside the few T-6 hours gained at PIT.
That said, if you can be humble and do the job for what it is, you'll probably have a great time doing something your peers won't be able to do. No reason to pass on it if your motivation is purely for the flying experience.
As for bailing for the guard, I haven't seen a civilian position come with a commitment and I don't know if that's even legal. If you don't have a contract, you can pack your bags at any point.

Don't expect a UPT board from the 162d any time soon.
-
Why stop there. Why not just contract Embry Riddle to instruct all UPT? Or Draken and Top Aces to man our Fighter Squadrons. This has to be a joke, right?

Ok I've finally had it with USAA. I'm moving all my stuff (banking, credit card, car/home insurance) NLT 31 Dec 22 after they nerfed their limitless cash back card, which currently is a great deal at 2.5% unlimited cash back. Their website has gotten worse and worse over time, customer service ain't what it used to be, and it just blows trying to keep external accounts updated.
Who are y'all banking with? Who has a slicker system for keeping a financial dashboard up to date? I basically want to see checking, savings, Amex & Chase credit cards all in one place with easy transfers and billpay. Bonus if they integrate car/home insurance but I can find that elsewhere if need be.
Ally? PenFed? Navy Federal?
Wait it out! There's probably a really sweet coffee mug that is neither microwave nor dishwasher safe in the mail to thank you for your time using their credit card. I just got mine 2 days ago and it totally made me forget about the 2.5 to 1.5 rate change along with all the other problems they're having. $0.69 mug made in Chinese sweat shop=USAA member for life!

So I’m confused…Biden said we’ll use our military to defend Taiwan against China, but right after he made that statement, his staff was quick to make a a “clarification”? So which is it?
Biden Says U.S. Will ‘Militarily Defend’ Taiwan against Chinese Invasionhttps://news.yahoo.com/biden-says-u-militarily-defend-141519941.html
No one, including Biden, truly knows.

What are these downgrades and Q1, 2, and 3?
EQ = Exceptionally qualified
Q1 = fully qualified
Q2 = remedial training
Q3 = unqualified
These are the overall evaluation qual level. Downgrades are for individual tasks not meeting the criteria outlined in the vol 2 for Qual. For each task, you can be evaluated at Qual (Q), Qual - (Q-), or Unqual (U). Q and Q- have specific criteria. Want to stay clear of Q3 and U's.

Viper SEFE. Never given a Q3 to a US pilot. I've seen only 2 Q3's in my 19 years - both FTU students. Q1 no hits is by far the norm. Probably because our community is made of pretty awesome pilots...

Look into defectors into the US. Pretty sure we got a few teenager MiGs thanks to N Korean pilots, maybe some others.

I don't understand why they didn't try a super bonus for a year or two just to see what the take rate would be.
Because it's not authorized by congress. Can't remember what the USAF wanted a few years ago but it was more than $35k and that's what they got.

Interesting article on a congressional investigation into military aviation crashes.
Summary of findings:
- Do more with less due to Continuing Resolutions and Sequestration
- Sims don’t replace hands on training
- Admin has eaten into time that should be spent on training.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkFunny that the congressional findings basically implicate... Congress. And who's responsible to create fixes for the congressionally created problems? Not sure, but I am pretty sure it won't be congress.
I bet the next budget post Trillions $$ spending on COVID will fix the root cause.

Flyovers are excellent training and I don't care who you are or what you fly. Simply being able to be at a specific place at a specific time has more real world combat implications than any BFM larping you'd rather be doing.
Every day I hit the start of my airspace time at the entry point I'm at a specific place at a specific time.
Post retirement part-time military job

When you are on orders or in any military status (flying airplanes) you don't collect retirement, it's prorated. In order to collect full retirement, you would need a title 5 position (civilian only) which does not have USERRA protection. Letters of indispensability are very possible for under O-6. We have several IPs doing it now as O-5s.
