  1. Does Boxer's comment remind anyone of a movie at all........

Col. Jessep: Do you have any more questions for me, Counselor?

    Judge Randolph: Lt. Kaffee?

    [pause]

Judge Randolph: Lieutenant, do you have anything further for this witness?

[Jessep defiantly gets up to leave the courtroom]

Col. Jessep: Thanks, Danny. I love Washington.

Kaffee: Excuse me. I didn't dismiss you.

Col. Jessep: I beg your pardon?

Kaffee: I'm not finished with my examination. Sit down.

    Col. Jessep: Colonel!

    Kaffee: What's that?

Col. Jessep: I would appreciate it if he would address me as Colonel or Sir. I believe I've earned it.

Judge Randolph: Defense counsel will address the witness as Colonel or Sir.

Col. Jessep: [to Judge] I don't know what the hell kind of unit you're running here.

Judge Randolph: And the witness will address this court as Judge or Your Honor. I'm quite certain I've earned it. Take your seat, Colonel.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

    And for Miss Boxer........ :flipoff:

Great reference. However you can argue the point that Senator Boxer didn't "earn" her title...she was elected to it. Being elected senator isn't based on merit, but more so on personal wealth...and lying enough to convince people to vote for you. Despite knowing a couple generals that were promoted to general despite their own douchebaggery, most earned the title. Elected does not equal "earning" the title.

  2. Barbara Boxer: Please Call Me 'Senator'

Overheard at a Senate hearing yesterday:

"Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?' It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."

--Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to Brigadier General Michael Walsh during Senate hearing Tuesday, when he the general repeatedly said, "Yes, ma'am," and "No, ma'am," when answering Boxer's questions at hearing she chaired on New Orleans' levee system.

"I ran into Enrique in front of the Borders at Penn Plaza, a prime tattoo-spotting location, as regular readers of Tattoosday know.

He sported three tattoos, including this fresh replica of his wings from the Air Force, where he was an E3 Airman 1st Class:"

Somebody punch A1C Enrique in the face if they see him

"Rudy Rodriguez gets his first tattoo by Mike Russi at Vanity Vault June 28, 2008. The tattoo is of Rudy's C-130 logo from the Air Force"

I'm not sure if that is the gunship version of the Commando Solo or Compass Call....wait, it might be the ABCCC version.

  4. And, believe or not, I am already looking for my next acquisition...

And yes, it is another Commie gun! A Nagant M1895 7.62x38R revolver.

    Cheers! M2

    M2,

Do you have a FFL 03? Makes it easy to get C&R guns like the above. Just got mine and it's an easy process. If you don't have one, and/or are interested, it was only $30 for 3 years. Link below explains it pretty well.

Let's you get the Nagant for $79 (plus $22 shipping) direct to your house.

  5. Depending on what ASE position you get and train for will detemine what systems you'll work with. Although over time the good ASE's I've flown with have known their job and parts of the others if they were't already qualified in another seat. ASE's are shit hot dudes (girls too) and I've seen the solder, tape, glue whatever it takes to get those jets and their systems up and running. Good luck at the FTU there's some shit hot instructors up there that I have flown with for a lot of years.

    Cooter

    Back to work Exec Monkey

  6. Im transferring to be an ASE on the RJ's and I was wondering if anyone had more insight as to the back of the plane, and how they support in flight.

    Really?

    Google it for unclass info.

ASE = Airborne Systems Engineer. You will be engineering the systems while airborne. You'll learn more when you report to the FTU.

  7. Isn't that what Shirts primarily do?

I swear after a TDY I have to sit in front of Outlook for the better part of an hour deleting all of the pointless emails that the Shirt sent out (usually forwarded) regarding things that I'm pretty sure no one cares about.

Shirt Email = Microsoft Office Auto Delete Rule. Works for me.

  8. Dear Spoo,

I'm sorry you got confused dear.

    I don't give a...

You get it. Fight like a man. At least Old Crow pulled rank...more than I can say for you.

    BENDY

Bendy, I welcome discussion and debate. Unfortunately your assumptions, name calling (not to mention grammar and spelling) do not lend credibility to your posts. We can agree to disagree, and that's fine. You're entitled to your opinions and free to lead/or be corrected anyway you want.

This has spiraled into a useless discussion. Out.

  9. Good thinking there, LT.

I'm willing to bet 2 bagsa dongs that that guy would just light you up.

He is responsible to police the enlisted ranks, but your ass is not different.

I would NOT be surprised if you went around yelling at 19 year old kids, that work a lot harder than you, about why you didn't get saluted.

If I know one thing: It's that the people that for 1) Actaully talk to Dale, don't feel the need to mention it on Baseops.net and 2) People that talk to Dale, don't actually have any other place for him to report to other than HIS SQ/CC's desk.

Don't bull shit me. I've played this game you claim to have played 3 times. Everytime he reported to my SQ/CC, not me. F_ck, I don't even have a desk over there.

There are right ways to do shit and wrong ones. I suppose you'll figure this one out. Good luck with that.

    Nice avatar BTW.

    BENDY

    Good thinking there, LT.

Wrong. Just off a few grades, but nice assumption

I'm willing to bet 2 bagsa dongs that that guy would just light you up.

Once again, since when does a SMSgt get to "light up" an officer?

He is responsible to police the enlisted ranks, but your ass is not different.

Yes my ass is. Respectfully pointing out my 'stache is out of regs is fine. The fact that it occurred in the Chow Hall, yes I said Chow Hall, leads me to believe that this was more than just a SNCO pulling a Capt aside and mentioning it privately. The tone from Dale's email also leads me to this assumption.

I would NOT be surprised if you went around yelling at 19 year old kids, that work a lot harder than you, about why you didn't get saluted.

I don't yell, but I do correct them. I do the same to officers that don't salute

If I know one thing: It's that the people that for 1) Actaully talk to Dale, don't feel the need to mention it on Baseops.net and 2) People that talk to Dale, don't actually have any other place for him to report to other than HIS SQ/CC's desk.

I have no idea what this means.

Don't bull shit me. I've played this game you claim to have played 3 times. Everytime he reported to my SQ/CC, not me. F_ck, I don't even have a desk over there.

I'm not sure about this quote either. What game have I claimed to played 3 times? I've never had a Dale report to me, but then again I've never received an email like the one Dale sent. You bet your ass I would do something if I got an email like that...having him report to me to discuss is just one way.

There are right ways to do shit and wrong ones. I suppose you'll figure this one out. Good luck with that.

You are absolutely right. Correcting officers (or anyone for that matter) in an embarrassing/disrespectful way is unsat. Not sure how Dale did it (though I have a guess after seeing this numerous times at PSAB and the Deid), but Dale's email was unprofessional and needs to be corrected. I think I've already figured it out in my 15+ years in the AF, but thanks for your advice.

I do agree with you Bendy that there is right and wrong way to do things, if that is your underlying point. Me pulling the Group CC aside privately and letting him know his collar is ######ed up, is much different than yelling it across the room. Dale privately letting me know I'm not in compliance with 35-10 (36-2903) is fine. Dale telling me again in a disrepectful email is not. Failure to correct that is poor officership. You're right, pick your battles, but Dale's email is a battle I would fight.

  10. He was a SMSgt, AMXS, herbivore type. Not sure what aircraft.

Officers that allow this type of crap to continue enable these "NCOs" to feel more empowered.

"Sergeant, report to me at whatever time to discuss" would have been my emailed response. When Dale (nice professionalism there SMSgt), reported I would thank him for his attention to detail and knowledge of the regulations. I would also complement him on letting me know that he thought the 'stache was out of regs. I would then remind Dale of his responsible to police the enlisted ranks and that his email to me was inappropriate...especially this part:

To my dismay you returned to the DFAC on the 19th mustache unchanged. I did not reengage you at this time because of your attitude the night before. Please resolve this issue at your earliest convenience, so we can put this issue behind us.

What happened next would depend on his attitude. Guessing from his email, I think Dale might be put at attention and reminded in a more formal manner of basic military rank structure and customs/courtesies.

If you're an "O", stop letting this happen to you!!

  11. What prices were they offering? I paid $570 for mine a couple weeks ago and that was on the low end of the average I've been finding. Don't know about the mil discount- I asked at Cabela's where I bought mine and they said no discount.

i emailed Springfield direct about a military discount. it took them about 3-weeks to email me back. i'll post the price list and list of authorized dealers on Monday

  12. I have both Glocks and XDs. I like both and think you can't wrong with either, so pick what feels right.

Both Glock and XDs offer LE/AD military discounts. You have to purchase from an authorized dealer, but the savings are significant. For example, I just picked up a new Glock 26 for $435. XD prices are similar.

  13. Only dudes I ever see wearing the Flag are Navy or cadets...does it really matter? We all know why we are serving, I don't really need the flag on my shoulder to prove how patriotic I am. Do I honor the Flag at all times, absolutely, would I rather and do I wear my Wing patch, yes. My $0.02.

and i would rather wear the US Flag instead of a wing patch. leave Enid more and you might see a lot more folks other than Navy or cadets wearing them

  14. Big Blue still keeping the Nav down. I'm not eligible for ACP until having over 20 TAFMS and under 22 TAS for this round of the $15K bonus. The AF is targeting retirement eligible O-4s and O-5s. Way to keep the mid-level experienced navs, EWOs and WSOs happy. If that wasn't bad enough, ABMs are eligible for their $15K six years after "winging."

    I'm just sayin'

  15. Alright... XD-45 or 1911?

Well, I thought I was at the gunshop for a shotgun, but a barely-used 4" XD-45 made it's way into my hand. I like it! However... I haven't shot an XD. $435; 2 mags but no case or holster.

In the same display case was a barely-used Springfield Armory 1911 GI. Of course I like it! I have shot 1911s before, and liked it. $535.

I put $100 on the XD to hold it until I can get to the rental-range and shoot their XD-45 - the guy at the gunshop said the used XDs he gets go pretty quickly, whereas the 1911s are slower to move these days.

I'm a little concerned that the XD is gonna be a little too much for my wife's small hands; I don't think the 1911 would be a problem. Since she's 8 months pregnant, going to the range with me is out.

Help me decide, Mister Springfield a.k.a. M2!

Have both, but would get the XD. Hell, I bought the XD because of M2's advice. That being said, the XD45 might be a little big for small hands. Why not take your wife to the gun store and hold it.

FYI, $425 is a pretty good deal. Just saw used XDs today for $450 to $499.

  16. How was working with Bud's? I am looking at buying my M1A Scout Squad from them if I can't find one cheaper or close to the same price with shipping locally.

Bud's was great. I bought my XD from them with no issues. Gun was used, but exactly as described and no problem shipping to my local FFL.

    Bud's = :thumbsup:
