  1. Going into O521 I’m a 1APZ with 3/8 IAPZ eligibles and 7/90 WG Majors...with a P. If I don’t get promoted how much time do I have to develop my path to the Guard/Reserve before I need to sign continuation?
  2. I was counting on walking from from Bonus commitment if passed over. Does a 2APZ mean I now have to get passed over 3 times before I can walk?
  3. I contacted the Scottsdale FSDO and was told that I can take my practical up to 6 months after my overseas assignment. He told me to bring my orders and SFAR-100-12 to my examiner. I took my written while based in the US, it expires July 2016. I am trying to find an examiner who concurs before I punt the practical to after my return. Does anyone know a school/examiner that is familiar with this?
  4. I imagine it is pure speculation at this point but are these all AD jets or could this be cuts for both AD and guard/reserve?
  5. I'm soon headed to the viper. I do legs (squats, leg press, lunges, and ham string curls) twice a week. I dont do too much cardio and I eat fairly well. I've been told that those who have nearly 9G resting tolerances have horrible diets, drink tons of coffee and smoke. I would think clogged arteries would slow down blood flow trying to get back to the brain under G. What are some things I can do to improve my G tolerance? should I take up smoking and drinking a gallon of coffee every day(half serious)?
  6. I havn't waived the right, I could miss two days of work, fly to grand junction colorado, rent a car, drive 2 hours to moab utah, next week....I am 100% certain of my speedo error, I have talked with a dozen jeepers that confirm 32 inch tires, with 4.10 gears and a 32 tooth speedo gear equal a 105% readout of actual speed on the speedo. And although not a source of hard evidence every time I drive by a 'your speed is' my speed is say 60 when my speedo shows 67. I'll try calling the DA tomorrow. If the AF wasn't waiting until 2008 to give me a class date I could have stayed in Utah until tomorrow, as I need my job until the AF provides me one I had to be back home in kansas city for work tomorrow. 7. I was heading to Moab Utah in my lifted jeep when I got pulled over by a Utah trooper coming the other direction. He told me I was doing 82. I laughed outloud because me jeep would fall apart if I was going that speed. He didn't believe me but gave me a ticket for doing 74 in a 65. That is still BS cause I never speed in my jeep as it kills my gas mileage. I was more likely doing 62 than 82. I am still waiting for an OTS date after being selected for a pilot slot on 0505. I had two speeding tickets at that time when I was selected, those I deserved. This one I didn't. I didn't stay in Moab to protest to the judge as I need to be at work on monday. Any advise, will this hurt? [ 09. October 2005, 17:43: Message edited by: Sean00xj ]
  8. It is from my recruiter. I know that recruiters do not carry much weight around here but he has not led me astray yet. Gosh it seems like everyone was planning on the next two boards? Maybe the rumor of only 50 applicants for 30 spots on the 0505 board is accurate
  9. I am applying for OTS. Instead of paying off my CC's I have taken advantage of low interest offers (I have not payed a dollar in balance transfer fees). I have about 18,000 in debt on which I am paying an average of 2.5% interest. In various accounts I have 25,000 in assets. IE: stocks and bonds. I have never been late for a credit card payment. Could this have a negative impact on my OTS application. Obviously I could pay off my debt tomorrow but I choose not to as I believe I can earn more than 2.5% on my investments.
  10. "If you pass the ATSB I can assure you that you will get a pilot slot"-Marine recruiter I took the ATSB today. I also talked to my AF recruiter who told me that my SC interview went well and the commander marked 'outstanding' on every aspect...I think I'll wait for the june OTS release before persueing the marines further
  11. What I was told is that the AF is 'downsizing' and the Marines are 'growing' as they are a more mobile force... The big thing here is that OCC is 10 weeks of absolute hell. You become a Marine THEN you become a pilot. you have a pilot slot when you sign up but you still will become a Marine first. My buddy who is flying T45's said the amount of running and carrying your m16 around is sickening. He had shinsplints. Guys washout not because they are incompetent but because of bad luck; IE a guy falls in front of you, you trip over him hurt yourself and you're gone...He did the two summer program as he was still in college. His first session 40% made it, of that 40% half came back for the second session. He himself wanted Helo's and is still a little upset he was asigned to jets interesting stuff...
  12. I am an interview away from being finished with my AF OTS application. My scores are 88p 80n and 91pcsm. I will not know if I am accepted until June 3 SO...I called a marine officer recruiter today just to get information and got off the phone with my head spinning and an appointment to take the ATSB next Wednesday. The recruiter said that pilot is a 'hot priority' for the marines right now and acceptance is not to hard to get. I have a friend who is flying t45's in Texas who went through OCC with the marines, what I would go through. He did mention that in OCC even the best candidates have a 20% chance of washing out due to unlucky events such as a twisted ankle. He confirmed the belief that most marines want helo's and C130’s and a lot of guys are upset to have to fly f18's or harriers. I figured I could start the application process with the marines and get a select/non-select after I find out from the AF. But after talking to the recruiter I think they might move much quicker than the AF. If I do apply I will try to slow things down so that I hear from the AF first. So is there any reason I should not start applying to the Marines? Is there any chance it could compromise an AF pilot selection? I know the AF is a nicer life but if I get the feeling I have a strong chance of getting an 18 I do not know if I would turn down the Marines for the AF.
