  1. Yep. 3849 singed by Wg/CC on 26 April. Palace Chase application submitted on 3 June and approved a couple of weeks ago. Not a peep about the 3849 being out there in the system, so the post above is probably correct about the two offices not talking to each other. I'm pretty sure I got an e-mail saying that if you wanted to be withdrawn from the IDE board's consideration you had to submit a memo in writing stating why (routed through your MAJCOM?), but I decided to let sleeping dogs lie and wait out the Palace Chase results before I even thought about such action. Now I've got my final out in 3 weeks so eventually Big Blue will figure it out.
  2. Palace Chase approved. 11MXX. Applied 3 June, notified 22 Aug. ADSCs: GI Bill (14 months waived), UPT (6 months waived), PCS (4 months waived). Sq/CC, Wg/CC recommended approval. Found someone with CMS access to check progress and verified AFPC recommended approval as well (despite being told by functional they would not). Hired as an ART prior to applying.
  3. Concur with RTB...this was something AFPC was in agreement on no matter who I talked to. You can't get rid of the ADSC once you sign the transfer. As to where this is written, no one knows. From my research the underlying laws for the Post-9/11 GI Bill are part of the US Code but each individual branch of the military decides how they want to implement it from there. I found a random Coast Guard memo online that they use to remove the ADSC if the GI BIll transfer is revoked, but no such luck for the AF. I think you'll have to go with a Palace Chase.
  4. I asked three different people at AFPC this question and got three different answers. The functionals (mobility types) told me "an ADSC is an ADSC" and since it's a retention tool they'll recommend disapproval of a PC if you have an ADSC for it. However, I thought that was BS so I got in touch with the AFPC Chief of Educational Services and Benefits and this was his response: "Yes you can serve out the remainder of your ADSC with the Reserves through the Palace Chase program. Reference AFI36-2306, Attachment 9, paragraph A9.18.8.6.1: If the Airman was a member of the active component, the Airman may join a Selected Reserve unit and regain the authority to transfer benefits if the Airman agrees to serve at least the remaining length of time which was not served under the original agreement." II would think you would still be a Palace Chase. In my situation my UPT ADSC expires in the spring of 2014 but my GI Bill ADSC isn't up until Dec 2014, so it was definitely a PC. Submitted the papers last week with a recommend from both Sq/CC and Wg/CC...but we'll see what happens. I added the e-mail from the AFPC Education Chief to my application as insurance.
  5. Agreed that most of the "well, I heard from a guy who knows somebody who works for a dude..." is usually much ado about nothing, but I'm deployed and not exactly getting up to the minute info. Honestly, whether the rumor is true or not won't matter to me -- as long as I can still apply that's all that matters, and it appears from the vMPF that you can still submit and application. So as soon as the Reserve unit gives me the green light...at that point all the discussion will be academic. My expectations are pretty low, but if you can't expect to win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket!
  6. Source was an in-service Reserve recruiter.
  7. Buddy of mine says they shut down the Palace Chase pipeline for 11MXXs in Feb for the rest of the fiscal year...probably just the rumor mill, but has anyone else heard this?
  8. Ok, figured I'd kick my situation out to the forum and see what y'all think... From the talking to fellow pilots/AFPC Functional and reading this forum, it seems that chances are pretty good for Palace Chase approval if you're within a year of your furthest ADSC. Well, my furthest ADSC the GI Bill transfer, thus my Palace Chase DOS request will be about 6 months prior to the expiration of my UPT ADSC but 14 months prior to the expiration of my GI Bill ADSC. However, I've also read that you can serve the remainder of the GI Bill transfer ADSC with Guard/Reserve service, so my question is does anyone know what the Palace Chase powers-that-be stance is on this? Anyone been in the same boat and got approved? My functional told me point blank if you have over one year remaining on ANY ADSC he will non-concur, but since AFPC's input is only a recommendation to the SECAF, who cares. I just don't know if SECAF will see my application as wanting out 14 months early or 6 months early.
  9. I was an 01 kc135 pilot and palace chased last year w 10 months left and a friend with two years left got approved as well. HookEmAll - I just heard back from the functional...his recoomendation will be not to approve due to manning. I also expect the Wg/CC to recommend disapproval as well. Obviously these are just recommendations and the final decision is made in DC, BUT I don't know how often these things get approved when everyone is recommending disapproval. What was the situation in your case?
  10. Anybody PC out of the KC-135 community recently? I called down to the PC office and overall I think my odds of being approved are decent (within 12 months of completing my UPT ADSC/unit with an intent to hire) but it would depend on manning levels, which in my case would be the '02 yr group with an 11MF AFSC. I plan on talking to the functional to get his/her take, but I figured I'd see if anyone had had recent success.
  11. Can anyone out there confirm or deny if you can serve your Post-911 GI Bill 4-yr ADSC concurrently with Guard/Reserve service? I'd like to Palace Chase in early 2014 but my GI-Bill ADSC doesn't expire until Dec 2014. It would be my only ADSC at that point... AFI 36-2107 cites Title 38 U.S.C. Chapter 33 as the legal citation for the ADSC defines an eligible individual as someone who has completed "six years of service in the armed forces and enters into an agreement to serve at least four more years as a member of the uniformed services." To me, the Guard/Reserve would be included in the "armed forces" statement, but I haven't heard AFPC's take on it.
