  1. Any dudes (or dudettes) on their way to IFS and in need of a good study tool for Boldface and Ops limits I stumbled upon a little gem today. I had the idea of putting flashcards on my iPhone for studying while on the go. Turns out I wasn't the first one. The app is call Flashcardlet and has the Boldface and Ops limits for the DA-20 already loaded on their server. I haven't had the time to double check each value against Doss IFS website so user beware. Follow the link for more info. Cheers!

  2. Soooooo that was enough one-eyed pilots to crew one jet?

Thanks, folks, I'll be here all week.

I'm guessing if you have a cat, you are gonna get laid with this one...

Just for the crazy factor if nothing else. :hitit:

If you thought that was funny, be sure to check out this gem! Courtesy of Songify This!

    And no doubt :hitit:

  3. So I'm trying to navigate the murky waters that is Tricare. I'm a Guard guy who is going to AMS in Nov on Title 10 orders, and IFS is January on Title 32 orders. My civilian employer drops my family medical coverage when I'm on military leave for longer than 30 days (which both sets of orders will be). How does Tricare handle the difference in Title 10 and Title 32 orders? And to further complicate things my son requires special medical supplies a normal kid does not. Does anyone know of special programs offered to ensure that he will continue to get the special medical care that he needs when I'm at AMS, IFS, and UPT? Or at least a contact of someone who might know? Any help is much appreciated.

  4. Does anyone have a class dates for the fall (September or so) yet? I am waiting on class dates and am trying to get some idea of what to expect. Also, I have heard pilots usually get January and March dates because most UPT classes start in the summer. Anyone know if this is true?

My dates start the first week of November thru mid December. Just got my dates a couple of weeks ago. I start UPT in March.

  5. As of this morning, the View New Content button doesn't seem to work. It states that there is no new content, but when I check the forums, I can see plenty of new posts. Anyone else having similiar issues?

    x2

At least it isn't working when I try accessing from my phone.

  6. I get a kick out of the folks bitching about certain locals in the Gulf. A better joke:

Kosovo still qualifies for CZTE and HDP.

I spent about 8 months in the 'VO' and wondered the whole time why I was getting CZTE and HDP. The closest I got to 'combat' was guarding the fruit truck to the nearby bases to make sure the locals didn't rob us blind.

  7. They just held a board in December. Not sure when the next board will be. End of the year at the earliest. But to answer your question, get in touch with Ops and ask to speak to who is in charge of the pilot board. That's how I got in for a visit. Good luck, never too early to start trying.

  8. I would rather avoid enlisting, just because I want to focus on college and not worry about duties and deployments.

Dude, you're 17. Enlisting would provide a lot of good experience. The unit will care more about you enlisting than they will about you have x amount of ratings and hours. Most dudes I know that got picked up in a guard unit weren't picked up until they were 25 or 26 anyways. Leaves a lot of time for you to experience the military life and still finish college. Not to mention they Guard will probably pay for most if not all of your tuition. I guess what I'm trying to say is to keep an open mind. Don't discount the idea, more than likely a couple of the interview board members will be prior enlisted while in college and make take offense to you not wanting to 'worry about duties and deployments'. But either way good luck on your endeavors.

  9. Evidently it is often loud near Air Force bases. But I think this LTC had the proper response. Beer to him!

Backstory: Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilians that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were.. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.

On a different note. Found a cool website with stuff that only the military could appreciate. Where you can see cool stuff like this

    they-never-saw-08_25_10-3.jpg?w=500

    and of course this

    female-us-pilots-1.jpg?w=920&h=690

Anyway, worth checking out the website if you get a chance. Pretty good stuff.
