  1. So did you get the procedure done? and if so were you able to take your FC1?
  2. Any Guard guys have to pay their own way out to wright pat for the FC1?
  3. Over the last few months have had a feeling of fullness and a small bit of hearing loss in my right ear. Additionally, when I swallow you can hear popping in the ear sort of like it is equalizing. After three appointments at the flight doc (claritin, sudafed, nasal rinse didnt work) they finally sent me to an ent. The ent tried to scope my sinuses but said that it was way to tight to even get into the right side and my Eustachian tube was blocked. He prescribed me a steroid and antibitocis after another two weeks that did not work so on the next visit he perforated my ear drum and gave me some nasonex. It has been two days and still no improvement. I am looking for any advice to try and clear this problem....
  4. expect to become security forces if you are going in open general especially if your asvab scores weren't over 75 which I believe is the qualifying score for ATC. 14 hours days working the gate checking id's. I'd rethink the whole open general thing but that's just my opinion. Not really sure what your recruiter is telling you but it seems he has done you a dis-service by allowing you to sign an open general contract. I'd like to sugar coat it for you but I really cant... if you really want to become a pilot then you might want to take a hold of your career path rather than just rolling the dice and letting the Air Force decide where you end up.
  5. Here is my 2 cents, I joined the active duty after a year of doing nothing around my town and decided I needed direction. I was lucky to get a good job with AD ( Air Traffic Control). After about 2 years of training the job pretty much turns into just going to work 5 days a week and going home. Plus there is plenty of time to finish your degree. I finished my degree after only 4 years in and after coming out of pocket for my VFR, the post 911 GI bill paid for my instrument and commercial certifications. So with all that the AD has worked out pretty well for me and gave me a six figure career for when I am flying with a guard unit. I am currently applying to units. My advice is if you are going to enlist, choose a job that will work for you and allow you to get the most out of the Air Force towards your goal of becoming a pilot.
  6. Good news about the sinus's, sorry to hear about the pants
  7. Has anyone recently been DQ'ed during their FC1 for having the surgery to unblock their sinus's?
  8. Thanks everyone for the advice ill keep trying
  9. What if you have an alternate slot at a unit and they tell you that you are pretty much guaranteed the next slot that opens but nothing is on paper, would you be hesitant about applying to a different unit?
  10. I am taking my AFOQT for the first time tomorrow morning. As I was going through one of my study guides I noticed that each practice test says that the score on this section is based out of the number of questions I answer correctly. This may be a stupid question but is it to my advantage to only answer the questions I am positive I am correct or should I answer all questions no matter what?
