AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
tlr9489, your unit should put you through a PFA 30 days out of AMS. Are you in the March 25th class? if so too late to worry now, but if we're talking about 2013, then you have plenty of time to prepare. Start with walking, and build up to running. Just gotta do it. I see your location is Massechusetts... you wouldn't happen to know LT Barlow would you?

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
Unless you have access to a discounted download I wouldn't go spending hundreds on MS Office, it's already on the laptops at AMS. I would recommend getting an aircard, so that you can browse your own Internet. Also, recommend you wash the non dryclean items and clip the strings and such off your uniforms.

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
Writing to see how much free time we have at AMS? I'm only 4 classes away from completing my MBA, and Webster offers courses online. The Spring semester runs 9 January - 9 March, and my AMS is 22 Jan - 2 March. I was thinking about working with my MBA professor to do weeks 3-5 course work before I leave for AMS to cover the first two weeks of AMS hell. and then catch up once we have free time. BTW, I'm a SSgt and I'm reading up on the OTSMAN. I consider myself a pretty good student - if I can get 4-6 hours per week of free time I would have no problem handing the course load. If you're wondering why I'm even considering this... if I don't enroll, then I have to start paying back the student loans in April. Unfortunately I can't defer this because the active duty is "training." Also, I'm a Navigator candidate, so my IFS training falls smack in the middle of the Spring 2 semester which further delays enrollment, and then Nav training starts in June and I know I won't be able to handle the course load with Aviation training.

CSO Training Length
Hello, I was recently selected to be a C-130 navigator for the Illinois National Guard. Its been a long approval process (over a year) and since I originally applied back in early 2010, the training path has changed. From my understanding it breaks down into AMS (6weeks @ McGee-Tyson) -> IFS (length? @ Pueblo,CO) -> Undergraduate Nav (9 months? @ Pensacola,FL) --> HC-130 Nav Training (where? how long?) Survival School (water and combat? length?) --> Seasoning days at home guard unit (45-90 days) Does anyone know if the training program is back to back, or if there are breaks in between for Guard/Reserve? Also, should I study anything before going to IFS/Nav school? I come from a computer science background, and I've only taken one flight lesson. Thanks in advance for your comments.
