  1. I'm taking the wife and her sister to Orlando 23 March - 1 April. Just found out it's the only time Disney World has blackout dates on their tickets ITT sells because of spring break. Is there any way around this or other places that offer discounts?
  2. So I have an AGR spot lined up... however I went on mypers today and it talked about continuation.. outlined about 30 AFSCs that are considered "critical skills" .. so now im wondering if my palace chase package is ed now?
  3. Just out of curiosity... what drives a bonus for certain AFSCs anyways? Why are there a lot of critical skills not offered a bonus?
  4. No idea what the stats are this year.. and depends on your command. I don't have the info in front of me but AFSOC last year had a promotion rate of something like 18% for folks with a P.
  5. Nevermind.. I think I found my own answer. The reg points to a current profile and assigns a ALC to you based on your profile. So if the profile expired I should not have any sort of ALC that pops up when I submit my package..? However, the only ADSC I have is for GI benefit transfer which is a 4 year ADSC. I have only served 50% of it so now I'm concerned that might be an issue. In AFI 36-3205 table 1.1 states: Have completed at least two-thirds of the initial total ADSC by requested date of separation (DOS). EXCEPTION: Officers must complete at least 24 months of active duty before being eligible for release from active duty if applying for release under paragraph 1.3.8.2. Is that mainly talking about your initial ADSC upon entering? Pilot/Nav training ADSC.. or any ADSC you ever incur? I had thought GI Benefit Transfer was somewhat easy to get out of...

So was getting ready to submit my package and just got word from a buddy of mine that his PC package was denied due to him being exempt for a portion of the PT test.. not a perm thing but something that happened and lasted for a couple of months. Is this a real thing? PC is always denied if you are exempt from one component of the PT test??

  8. If I am at the 14 year point.. and decide to go RPA, does this $35000 apply to me? If not, what would I get as a RPA dude?
  9. I talked with someone at AFPC and they anticipate this as well. TERA will no longer be an option and folks get continuation just as prior to 2011. According to AFPC the last board in Sep (not sure what it was, non LAF O4?) offered continuation to everyone passed over. When I asked about the chances of non-continuation and then not getting TERA they said they is 0% chance of that happening.. other than negative discriminators on their record.

  11. I'm not sure how the H model community or instructors treated their students, but this guy is a W pipeline guy specifically talking to the W side of the 551,
  12. W Navs currently don't go to LR. The most difficult thing with teaching new navs is the Cat 1 procedures.. but they don't receive a checkride on it. All of this might change when/if AFSOC pipeline guys start going through Kirtland. Euro I hope you filled out a student critique when you departed the 551 if you felt you were wronged.
  13. From what I have heard... 30% is the magic number. But I have not seen this anywhere in a reg. The question I have is I am looking at going as a DSG on full-time orders in hopes that I get picked up for an AGR at some point. Because of this, I have held off on medical appointments for my back, ears, etc as I don't want to raise any flags. Do I still get to re-attack at the end of service for disability? Or is that going to be decided when I leave AD and go to the Guard?
  14. Seems like pilots (not sure how many) were offered continuation. No 12S were offered continuation this year. So TERA is authorized until 2018, and it seems this year anyone eligible for TERA was offered it. What are the chances it is still offered next year and the AF doesn't pull another rug?
  15. Pretty much dead on.. fwiw... I hate Cannon.. have been there 6+ years.. but wouldn't trade it for anything in the AF.

  18. The thing is.. I don't mind staying a O4 and doing my job for the next however many years. The problem is that the AF doesn't like to prepare people. I have more statistics than I care on why I didn't get promoted.. but the bottom line is that I want to know my chances at continuation. Were 80% 12S continued? 0%? Is continuation decided by the board members having a foamy sword LARPing battle after having a number of drinks? I have no idea.. I don't want to count on continuation if ZERO navigators or 12S folks were not continued.. How is this information not available?

  21. I am starting my search for ANG/Reserve jobs. I have 14 years AD and would like to find a full time job to finish out my 20 years and beyond if the unit lets me go past 20. Many of my buddies have fallen into AGR slots but it seems like I can't find anything. There are prospects here and there but most seems like timing...units standing up.. basically being in the right place at the right time. I have RPA experience.. 12S core right now.. have AC/MC/slick experience and what I think is a good resume but nothing seems to be out there. At this point I would accept a non-flying. There are no centralized websites for job searches.. one website has different jobs than another and it seems hit and miss. I have tried the Portal.. USAJOBS.. is there anything else out there? Should I contact units that are not advertising they are hiring? Kinda lost at this point..
  22. When would a unit ask someone to sign a waiver? What does preventing someone from getting an AD retirement do for that unit? I have heard that some units try to help their people out to get to the 18 year point.. I talked to one unit that said they would hire me GSG (?) tomorrow and pretty much be on orders as long as I want. And as AGR jobs open, guys typically get them as they are already in the unit. And as far as man days... if a unit says they have plenty of man days that's great. It concerns me a little if I were to be on man days.. If the end of my orders are up, what are the chances on average that someone doesn't get orders again? Paying mortgage, bills, etc becomes difficult.
  23. After 14 years AD I am thinking about going Guard or Reserve. I have been thinking the last couple years but the last O5 board made the decision a bit easier. I'm trying to learn everything I can about TR/ART/AGR etc but it's overwhelming right now. My ultimate goal is to retire after my 20 years and immediately draw retirement, so obviously an AGR position seems like the best bet. And I'm not picky.. I would accept pretty much anywhere doing anything to get an AGR. For anything other than an AGR AD service after 2008 is supposed to count towards reducing the retirement age from 60. So by the time I leave I could draw retirement at 52 or earlier after 20 good years. The question I have is on the reserve side... points.. and sanctuary. If I were to go into the reserve with 14 years would I have 5040(ish) points immediately towards my 7200? And from what I have heard when I reach 7200 points I can immediately draw that retirement..? So if I find a job even as a TR that puts me on mandays/orders continuously I could reach 6460 and declare sanctuary.. do 2 more years and draw a full AD retirement? Is it unit dependent whether this happens or not? I have read posts saying they "watch your days like a hawk" and prevent this. What is my best bet is this situation? Should I look for an AGR somewhere or take a chance as a TR at a unit that says they'll give me all the days I want?
